I played Ratchet and Clank: A Rift Apart recently because it was available free on PS+ and it is the most gorgeous game I have ever played in my life.
The graphical capabilities are astounding, the aesthetic is pleasing, and there is charm out the wazoo. You can’t look anywhere without seeing something interesting making use of all that fancy graphic tech. I kept it installed despite 100%ing it just to mess around with the photo mode.
Have you ever found that game where it plays well, mechanics are solid and the art is also up your alley. But at the end of each round you play you just see the little battle pass section trying to prey on your sense of FOMO, trying to scrape out just a little more, even though the price tag upfront is already a bit higher than what you’d normally pay for a game in the same vein.
I found a game I probably could’ve genuinely enjoyed for a long time. I was talking it up to my friends to buy it on release together so we could play co-op. The demo was really great.
For it to come with a Day 1 battle pass (plus online only access when it had singleplayer modes) makes the developer’s intent very clear: we want more money, and we’ll use every FOMO trick in the book to achieve it. And once you pay, you still have to work for those rewards you paid for.
Cosmetic DLCs are fine. I play a fair bit of DST and I enjoy collecting twitch drops and free skins, and if I wanted to support the Devs more I could buy a pack. That’s upfront and transparent. I don’t get reminded every time I build a chest that “There’s 16 more skins you can unlock for this item”. That would be scummy.
Recently released Lakeburg Legacy. It’s a small realm simulation: you build various workshops, allocate workers, gather resources, produce items to fill the need of the population.
And in the same time, each citizen had a love life, you can find them partners, chose talking subjects for their first date, decide if they should mary or not, some of them will break up after cheating on their partner…
Thats a neat concept, but it hasn’t made it to Playstation yet. I’ll keep an eye on it, though. It sounds like a great compromise between my love of watching my little dudes do stuff and her love of getting to know a little township.
the older stuff on newsdemon is hit or miss anyways cause of the way they handle their storage so it will be hard to know if its gone cause they suck or gone cause of takedown.
i can understand that about crypto. Fwiw, this discussion was posted recently about usenet and crypto, lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/2612428 Others take crypto and several of the ones mentioned take it directly without a processor and have better perf. than the newsdemon system.
I’ve been playing Subnautica Below Zero. Loved the first game and I’ve been meaning to try the second for ages. Nice and relaxing expect when it isn’t.
no big deal to pay with whatever. could change down the line of course. if paranoid just use crypto or mail them your payment. your providers wouldnt be my first choice, any reason you chose them?
I’m testing frugal right know and ist working fine but it seems to miss some content. So I took a look at the promotions page on r/Usenet and these two providers would be really cheap while being on different backbones. But I’m probably going to be alright with the yearly frugal subscription with the block account added
they all “miss” some content. if it has been taken down from usenet you may just have to look for a repost, seems like everything is reposted 8 different times. if its missing cause its to old then maybe you need the blocknews block for full retention like you said.
I know my school will sometimes use last year’s CC versions because they’re familiar with it, and it’s been tested to work with what they want to teach, so it won’t just break or not function as expected out of nowhere. Now why they use 2020’s version in 2023 is beyond me, stuff generally does not change drastically in 3 years.
Been slowly picking away at Blue Reflection Second Light. It’s nice and chill, and neat that the first game’s subtext of girls love isn’t subtext anymore.
Also been playing some Gundam EXVS Maxiboost On with a friend. Slowly getting our bearings and it’s neat how every session our play improves, as does our coordination.
