It’s more interesting than the magic sistem in secret of mana, and maybe more balanced. Secret of mana is the closest game to this one in terms of mechanic, but there’s a certain tiger boss that is required to unlock the magic system and it’s something else entirely.
I don’t feel like the story telling was as good in Evermore. Secret of Mana grabbed me a lot more with it’s characters and it’s difficulty, and I always loved the plot despite some pretty obvious flaws. The music is still one of the best ever soundtracks too.
I think Evermore also got completely overshadowed by Chrono Trigger being released just 2 months before in the US.
Don't use best coding practices, do not make readable code following good naming/formatting standards, have it only make sense for you in the moment and require weeks to debug even by you
Ah the bug muck. I once made it to the Greek area before moving on to seiken densetsu 3 which I also did not finish because I went back and played through chrono trigger again even though I’ve finished it like 5 times on multiple platforms. Why some games never get finished is a mystery. It’s not a bad game for square usa’s first game.
This isn’t a reply to your question directly but I’ll suggest getting into a community league instead and test some waters.
I play Dota 2 mainly which has no pay to win mechanics and all characters are free but the game is difficult to get into. That being said there are many communities who host local tournaments/in-house league which are rank locked and you can make friends and find players to play with.
Most games have something similar on discord servers and then you can get into an actual competitive stage eventually!
Same as anything else, really. Find local tournaments or player hosted events that are smaller. Find out what the actual competition is like, and practice to rise above them.
Steam has refunds now though, so if I know I’m gonna play it day 1 I’ll pre-order it and pre-download it, but when it turns out it’s dogshit I’m refunding that shit ASAP (sorry stalker 2, hopefully you’ll be good one day!)
That’s wild, I was just thinking of a replay. Do you know about RetroAchevements? The achievements kind of give me goals which have helped me actually finish these games.
Edit: I wanna add that I was thinking it’d be good to play with my 3yo, I don’t think she can mess anything up playing as the dog lol
