I heard from one of the old big names of the space, AntVenom, way back when. The most important part is enjoying doing it, and I mean every part of it. You have to enjoy sitting there, talking to yourself while you play. You have to enjoy video editing. You have to enjoy collaborating with other content creators and putting a focus on making it interesting to watch more than interesting to play. If you don’t enjoy the process, you don’t actually want to do it. You want something you think you will get from it, and you won’t last.

Just pretend and give it a try. Use free (as in price) software for the first run. Play a game, something you were already interested in and just spout off to an empty room about whatever comes to mind, because that’s basically the gig. Then edit it down. This might take much, much longer than the recording. Regardless of whether you upload it or not, you get a taste. If you actually enjoy the process (not imagining what it might lead to, but the actual process) do it.

Ask yourself what niche do you want to fill, and what is that space like already? What would set you apart from others already there? What is your unique selling point, in order to get eyeballs on your videos?

Is gyro aiming cheating?

I don’t consider it to be, in fact I wish it was the default for FPS games. I just hate that a lot of the stuff that is supposed to be used by noobs for accessibility gets immediately taken by omegasweats to pubstomp even harder.

TrustedTyrant,

It depends but it can be. On PC you can just map it to kbm and not get aim assist so it’s not. On console games that don’t support it natively using something to get gyro aiming would be because of aim assist or in sieges case the lack of it.

Don’t play many sequel games, so it’s hard to say.

Destiny. Played the heck out of 1, and 2 is just… Annoying. I still play, but I actively disuade people from picking it up.

It went from a mechanically fun game with garbage storytelling but amazing lore, to mechanically complex and hyper specialzed, still mostly garbage storytelling, and lore that is trying to constantly one up itself or nonexistent. The seasonal model was a mistake and it’s grindy for the sake of money. It really took a terrible turn down sitcom alley of having the seasonal content need stakes, but also not really change anything drastic. So it just feels like tasks for the sake of tasks… Which it is. A neverending treadmill where grinding has only very short lived rewards.

Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel are two of my favorite games which I’m almost always down to replay.

Borderlands 3 has solid enough gameplay, but absolutely shit all over the storyline and characters.

Hey there! I work a side-gig as an eSports Producer. There’s lots happening depending on the types of games you like. Breakout does a ton with fighting games, there are lots of smaller shooter leagues and a community for just about every game.

If you have a specific game you like I’d be happy to try and help point you in the right direction.

Hop in a game’s Discord. They usually do tournaments and such. You can make a name for yourself there.

Read comments from your audience and reply to them. People are more likely to feel welcome and stick around if they’re included. Ask your audience questions. At the same time, don’t be upset if people don’t answer. A lot of the time, people just watch a stream as background noise. Or they’ve gone to the bathroom, or they’re making themselves a snack, or whatever.

Considering how many gaming YouTube content creators have been exposed for sexually grooming and abusing minors, my advise would be to dream something else. Anything else, really.

Also, thats a flooded market. Difficult to stand out. If you just be yourself then you will have a small following, most likely too small for it to support yourself on as your only source of income.

FF Cotw why in the everliving fuck put that idiot in the game. Sure you can make millions by putting CR7 in the game same as you can make 10 grand by sucking dicks for a 20 in an alleyway. I can’t believe how many shit decisions they make and still have enough money to burn on it.

Loved MK 1 then 2 blew my mind 3 was good 4 blew my mind again. Then until 9 I didn’t touch anything too goofy I haven’t been able to play the single player much (of DA Deception and Armageddon) but didn’t click anyway. MK9 was goated. Then MKX didn’t liked it at all (cant handle a game with such bad animations). Loved 11 and now MK1 is like meh.

Wasn’t a sequel but I used to love League until Yone and the healing meta. Sylas saved it for a while; like I love gimmick chars and a rebel to boost, sign me TF in. But all in all the BS balance the toxicity the lack of respect for my time, it was too much. Switched to WF and couldn’t believe how chill it was.

I’d second the fact that it’s really difficult to do it, and that you genuinely need to enjoy the process. More likely than not, you won’t “make it” and you’ll just be doing it as a hobby. Though, more than anything, you just need to do it. You might not know what to say today, tomorrow, or next month, but eventually you’ll find a rhythm and know what works for you. There’s no way to find that rhythm if you aren’t making anything.

My source for this is the fact that I’ve been doing YouTube for nearly 2 years now, creating weekly videos. I think they’ve been of pretty good quality for about 14 or so months now. I have just over 500 subs which, while I’m super proud of and thankful for that, isn’t even enough to enable ads on my channel. I also specifically chose a niche that’s a tad easier to stand out in, as the market for gaming videos is so so so saturated and difficult to stand out in, as the barrier for entry is so low.

I don’t mean to discourage, and of course wish you the best of luck, but I do want to share a realistic view on it based on my experiences being a small potato YouTube creator.

Personally I love Counter-Strike 2 or Rocket League, both have the simplest way to play competitively - You simply play Comp and then get ranked.

Cs2 you could use Faceit or Leetify to create a team and join tournaments, though I think some cost money with a prize pool.

RL is awesome though, you get like 5 - 6 mini tournaments a day hosted by RL themselves. Similar to CS2 you get ranked and then join a tourney with skill-alike players. Very fun, very easy to set down, always feel like you can play “competitively” no matter the time available or skill.

Both games have a very quick learning curve, and then as you play and practice you slowly get better (hopefully)
