I bought a couple of tactics like games on steam and they all dont seem to be fun to me. I guess I like to grind a bit on fair but punishing tactics titles.
As a kid I was like ‘oh sure Rock Tunnel dark af let’s fkn go to Lavender’ but now I’m like ‘Rock Tunnel? That’s a lazy name’. Also Dark Cave in gen 2. No points for creativity.
Was gonna say it. This perfectly describes the last few Assassins Creed titles. Not bad enough to put them away, but also not good enough to leave any kind of lasting impact.
Yeah, Assassins Creed was cool at first but they just bled that shit to death with too many releases. It’s hard to keep things fresh when you put out like 10 sequels.

Dear lord you don’t see that often. I mean, it’s no surprise and it’s definitely deserved as the game is a hot pile of garbage but even then. They didn’t buy off a single reviewer?
I finally bought a blasting new computer to play Horizon Forbidden West! It’s so beautiful. Haven’t even gotten through the tutorial yet and it’s surpassed Zero Dawn already in terms of environment.
Well at least you didn’t give your money to gamepass.
Nothing wrong with buying too much art, just don’t piss all your money away to corporations charging artists rent instead of giving the money to the artists.
You gave a lot of money to artists, with such a generous spirit that truth be told you weren’t actually ever necessarily planning to experience the art because you already own a ton of awesome art, that is winning my friend.
For me it was war thunder. Seen this game advertised on youtube a while ago, and about year ago i decided to just install it and see what this game is. Firstly i liked it. It was fun game to play. After some time of playing this game, i wanted to see videos of this game on youtube, and thats where i found a lot of criticizm for this game. Only after hitting about 60 hours of total playtime, i started understanding the hate for this game myself. I did not played war thunder ever since. For context, the main reason for hate to this game is that it is too grindy, and it will take hundreds of hours to reach top tier, even with premium account.
I remember having a lot of fun in the first two or three tiers of war thunder. But then the higher tiers hit, everything gets way too fast and you have to deal with too many sweaters.
Can confirm, several hundred hours in and I have like, 3 usable jets with missiles. And I deliberately rushed the shortest tech line to get them faster. And Im basically permanent premium.
it’s very pay to win. it feels good to play at first then your progress stagnates to the point of frustration and paying players get put in the same matches as non paying players. paying players get access to entirely new planes and upgrades and they always kill me soon after i spawn.
Starfield. It’s the definition of a “mixed” rating on Steam. It’s not bad, but it’s not good either. You play it for an hour and your reward is that an hour has passed.
After running through the main story once, I modded it to where you cannot buy any natural resources - they must be harvested in person and/or setup a base and and ship all natural resources to a central storage planet. This essentially turned it into a spreadsheet-logistics game which gave me a a second, much more enjoyable playthrough. But I agree - absolutely medium-tier game.
To me it was the 2014 Thief. I never had any proper experience with the previous games of the series, only tried Thief 3 back when my PC could barely run it, so the low fps made me give up. My short time with new Thief wasn’t bad, though I didn’t finish the game as it was on my xbox1 and I never really sat down to play anything to completion on it. Online it’s all “Thief is shit, it’s a shit game” etc. Maybe I didn’t get to the shit part, I completed maybe 4 missions?, but while it wasn’t amazing, it felt like a decent stealth game and had me more interested in continuing than Styx Master of Shadows
Generation Zero was amazing, when it first came out and it was all new. The machines were actually scary to be up against. I remember playing the beta and freaking out that the dogs were following me around when I was in the bunker, how they would track you down. Just always put me on edge, but then you take down a few. Learn the ropes, get better gear. And that anxiety is gone. Its not longer difficult. It got too easy, not scary to be out at night alone.
I will say though that the engine used was fantastic. I have never before, or since, had a game that loads so fast, looks so nice on mid-low level hardware. You hit load game, and you are in the game. It ran fantastic and looked really nice. The concept was amazing and for the most part it did work. Until it didn’t. Fun game but nothing outstanding.
Yeah once you explore the whole map, it becomes a typical looter shooter where you're just grinding for 6 crown weapons. I will say though, having only played for a couple years, the dev team did a remarkable job adding new content over time, and not all of it locked behind DLC. Picking this game up on sale for $5 felt like I won the lottery. It might be "just ok" but I did have dozens of hours of fun in the game with my brother and friends.
