If they don’t do anything to fix it, not long

Well, Cities: Skylines 2 is here, and it's another broken game release. angielski

I don’t really understand how people make the review threads, but we’re sitting at a 77 on OpenCritic right now. Many were worried about game performance after the recommended specs were released, but it looks like it’s even worse than we expected. It sounds like the game is mostly a solid release except for the...

Its not good for the general aura surrounding the release. I don’t follow the game actively but all I hear is negativity.

ROCKSMITH 2014 LEAVING STORES - Ubisoft (www.ubisoft.com) angielski

You may want to know that Ubisoft’s Rocksmith® 2014 Edition will be de-listed from Steam after October 23rd, 2023 which is one week from this post date. This is a game that makes learning to play the guitar like Guitar Hero/Rockband, which can score you or let you slowly practice a part with scrolling fret indicators....

This is what happens with every single music license game in existence.

It sucks but there’s nothing they can do because the shrinking user base does not justify renewing the licenses, both in terms of fee and effort.

At least you get to keep the DLC titles you purchased, which probably wouldn’t happen with a SaaS title

twistedtxb,
@twistedtxb@lemmy.ca avatar

That’s a silly excuse. At roughly $20 / TB, a 150gb game shouldn’t be an issue

@twistedtxb@lemmy.ca avatar

Sincerely impressed by the Series S performance

twistedtxb,
@twistedtxb@lemmy.ca avatar

There’s your problem. Hiring an entire team for 6+ years and then cancelling the project. That’s hundreds of thousands, if not millions, down the drain.

The current AA / AAA gamedev industry isn’t sustainable

Sad to see a developer go but Saints Row was a cringefest.

Lightyears away from Descent

I sincerely didn’t know broadband Internet data caps were still a thing in 2023

I’m so happy for these guys. Can’t wait until tomorrow to finally play the game!

PlayStation Portal Doesn’t Have Bluetooth (gamingbolt.com)

Sony has officially unveiled the PlayStation Portal, and as a cloud-exclusive Remote Play handheld device, it’s obviously got a few caveats attached. The fact that it can’t play native games – or any native media – is, of course, one of them, while it’s also been confirmed that even the cloud library of PlayStation...

This is huge. DLSS3 was miles ahead of FSR2. So glad for AMD

51 and talking about retirement… I wish I could say the same

People still care about Saints Row? I think it’s time for Volition to move on

twistedtxb,
@twistedtxb@lemmy.ca avatar

I wonder why MGS let go of the Alan Wake franchise. The first title was such a great story driven game. It’s one of those games that sticks with you for a long time, if not ever.

I’m glad Remedy found a way to get the franchise back

twistedtxb,

Not everyone is able to afford a gaming PC, let alone a current gen gaming console.

Series S offers them a great opportunity. It is far from a mistake.

twistedtxb,
@twistedtxb@lemmy.ca avatar

Still twice a much as a series S. $600 is alot of money for many people

twistedtxb,
@twistedtxb@lemmy.ca avatar

I can easily see this being as big or bigger of a franchise than TES

twistedtxb,
@twistedtxb@lemmy.ca avatar

They can take all the time of the world and I’ll be there when it’s ready. The things the devs must have been going through… it’s a miracle it hasn’t been cancelled at this point

Star Wars: Dark Forces Remastered – Official Announcement Trailer (youtu.be) angielski

Get your first look at the remaster of the classic 1995 Star Wars first-person shooter Dark Forces, which is being developed by Nightdive Studios, the same team responsible for the recent remasters of Quake 2 and System Shock. Star Wars: Dark Forces Remastered is in development for all major platforms (PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and...

twistedtxb,

I hope I’m proven wrong, but I’m not sure this is the best title to receive the Nightdive treatment.

Apart for the dated visual, gameplay and overall game mechanics wise the game is very awkward by 2023 standards.

Heads up for Xbox owners: MGS HD Collection XB360 (physical release) is backwards compatible for newer consoles, has the same features and 4K/60

You can get it on eBay/marketplace for $20

twistedtxb,
@twistedtxb@lemmy.ca avatar

This is exactly like you do a proper remaster. I just finished the new expansion and this alone could justify a $40 price point.

Take Two should be ashamed of themselves

Weird, Firewatch was on GP like two months ago.

I never played the n64 version. I didn’t even know it existed!

Very short but had a lot of fun! Playing a n64 game in 4k/60 is quite surreal

Now that FIFA’s gone, EA needs another cash cow.

twistedtxb,

No Series S owner will be mad if a game has Series X specific exclusive content. MS is shooting itself in the foot

twistedtxb,
@twistedtxb@lemmy.ca avatar

There’s no way TakeTwo would let this happen for long unless they get their share.

Prepare for even more GTA “X” as a service content

twistedtxb,
@twistedtxb@lemmy.ca avatar

Does it have a “software rendering” looking mode?

I always thought games of this era looked better in software rendering vs those n64 esque shaders

twistedtxb,
@twistedtxb@lemmy.ca avatar

GTA as a service with monthly subscriptions to every single thing you can think of

twistedtxb,
@twistedtxb@lemmy.ca avatar

That would be a massive undertaking. Daikatana is almost “broken by design”. Quake II simply needs new textures and RT

Xbox's biggest crisis right now isn't games. It's hardware. (Opinion - Jez Corden) (www.windowscentral.com) angielski

"Today, PlayStation revealed that its PS5 has sold 40 million units. Microsoft doesn’t share hardware numbers typically, but court documents, math, and slides from an ID@Xbox in Brazil seem to suggest the Xbox Series X|S line-up is around 20-23 million units sold globally. That essentially puts the PS5 at a 2:1 advantage...

twistedtxb,
@twistedtxb@lemmy.ca avatar

Frankly MS doesn’t really care about as much about hardware considering the cost of production, as long as their services are profitable.

Sure they would prefer not to be outsold 2:1 but as long that Gamepass PC exists and sells well, they’re fine with this.
