Some games use it to determine who is player one vs player two. i.e. whoever presses the button first is treated as player 1.

Damn, I just bought one of these too XD

I use mine mostly to play older games that cant be alt tabbed easily. Playing through Morrowind with the OpenMW engine lately, for example. Also been doing a lot of Yakuza 0. I have a 64 GB SD card as well though. For the really big stuff I can stream from my gaming PC.

What games have you played in the last 365 days that stand out to you as the most memorable experiences?

I think the most common answer is going to be Tears of the Kingdom, and that is one for me that stands out for sure, but I will try to add some more unique inputs as well. Many are games that came out longer than a year ago, but i didnt get around to playing until more recently....

Sea of Thieves. I’ve had so many great interactions with other pirates, and the freedom the game gives me allows fights/battles to go in some very interesting ways. I’m not sure I’ve played another game that lets me outsmart my opponent in so many ways, and the ability to speak to other pirates can provide for some very interesting or funny moments. The other day I was attacked by a reaper ship, once they knocked down our mast I started swimming with a gunpowder barrel towards their ship. They swam right past me while looking for me, unfortunately I was killed just feet from their ship. But they had no idea about my second gunpowder barrel and started sailing closer to my ship. As it sunk, the barrel was freed from the chains of gravity and hit their ship, killing most of their crew. We all had a laugh in the ferry of the damned after that. They were pouting that we had no treasure so we teased them with how we just sold a giant pile of it when they started chasing us.

Another time we were about to log off so me, in a sloop, approached some random galleon to give them all our supplies. We were really lucky with finding them and had an absolute fuckton of supplies. The first words from them as we approached were “They’re here” and they all jumped on our deck ready to attack. We told them we come in peace, with gifts, and gave them our supplies. In return, they gave us a key to one of our chests, which had three items we needed inside of it, that we would have otherwise missed out on. Got like 5 achievements out of that interaction.

Most emotional moments in games? (SPOILERS)

Just for the heads up, this thread will probably have a lot of spoilers. I’m gonna try to go vague on spoilers for anybody that hasn’t played Hotline Miami 2. If you’ve played the game, you’ll probably know what I mean, but I’m going to say some purposefully esoteric shit to keep it out of full spoiler territory....

I got yelled at for saying this on a reddit thread about emotional moments in video games. But I still feel bad for killing Mordin in ME3. I cried. And regret it.

Sea of Thieves with my SO lately, previously Earth Defense Force with her as well.

I’ve been playing through 0 for the first time and my first Yakuza game and I LOVE IT. Need to play all the other ones next.

Why Android? Linux with Proton would make so much more sense, Android games are mostly mobile trash…

I keep being tempted to pick one up but I’m not a huge fan of old handheld games. Even growing up I was always like “I wish these were more like the PC or console versions.” My first system was a GBC so maybe a bit before my time. Happily playing PC games on a steam deck these days though. My childhood dream is real now! lol

snowbell,
@snowbell@beehaw.org avatar

Those were all before my time, so I don’t really have any “favorites” I would want to play.

What type of game do you want to play that doesn't really exist?

Have you ever played a game and wondered what if you could do something that it doesn’t really allow you to do, for example being able to move around blocks in Minecraft fluidly instead of in sectors, edit the world in Hogwarts legacy with spells, be able to fly in a world like Elden Ring or Elder Scrolls with epic sky...

I ended up quitting the game because some early game enemies were too tough, on casual mode :(

When people say stuff like this it makes me feel like I’m missing something

Recommendations for open world games with focus on interaction instead of exploration or survival

I would like recommendations for open world games where the player has abundant ways to interact with the world, be it with the NPCs or buildings, and does not have to worry about survival aspects of the character or spending time exploring a static world. I would not mind if it comes at the cost of a smaller sized world, as...

Fallout: New Vegas might be enjoyable for you. It is a smaller game than skyrim, and has everything you like about skyrim and more.

Anyone else remember those giant scale maps that used to be in shooters? e.g. bathroom, kitchen, office, backyard, that made you feel so tiny? angielski

I miss those so much. Any modern games still playing with this concept? I remember Half Life had the bathroom, kitchen, and office, and I remember a backyard one in Quake 3 that was really cool.

Yep, exactly! What a cool concept.
