sigmaklimgrindset,

It has been more than a decade since I opened my DS and played Phoenix Wright 1-5, but this instantly transported me back to sitting on my parents couch crying hysterically as my mother helped me point out the evidence room locker clue.

Thanks for helping your stupid child mum, you’re a real one. And thanks for the PTSD, Capcom.

sigmaklimgrindset,

Don’t tempt me! I just finished the Ace Attorney Chronicles last month, it was so good that I’m really considering going through the old trilogy before the Apollo collection comes to the Switch.

sigmaklimgrindset,

Damn, Larian is really gonna get all the Bioware sequels, eh? Larian Jade Empire when

sigmaklimgrindset,

I finally started up Persona 5.

No, not Royal. Vanilla P5.

I’ll probably get to Royal three years after Persona 6 has been released.

sigmaklimgrindset,

I picked up Baldur’s Gate 1+2 remastered as a combo on a Steam summer sale for like $20 last year, and I gotta say BG2’s story was a real high. Probably one of the best I’ve experienced in video games.

You really have to micromanage the combat though, so if you don’t like pausing and thinking about every single move your party needs to make, it might not be for you. I also played it before BG3, so I can’t really speak to how it’ll feel going backwards. But BG2 was really worth it for me.

sigmaklimgrindset,

The toughest part for me is that the game is based on 2e, an edition of DnD I had no experience with. It was rough lol

sigmaklimgrindset,

I actually played Fallout 2 over the pandemic lockdowns, and I gotta say I found BG2 less difficult. I don’t think I’ve ever spent as much time dying in a game as I did in FO2.

sigmaklimgrindset,

Ok grandpa, let’s get you to bed.

Jokes aside, I didn’t even know there was a paid version of Counter Strike.

sigmaklimgrindset,

Blizzard is so shit that when I had internship offers from two predatory gaming megacorps, Blizzard and EA, I took the EA position because they didn’t have a history of abusing and sexually harassing their employees.

Was a real Sophie’s Choice there for me.

sigmaklimgrindset,

Haha, I wish I could say I left their offices cussing and flipping them off, but I actually had a great experience working for them.

Their customer practices are horrendous, and management is 100% always down to nickel-and-dime every possible aspect of the games they can get away with. But the internal practices and office culture are actually pretty robust regarding toxicity, sexual harassment and work-life balance, at least at the office I was at. I can’t speak to fair compensation, since I was an intern.

Ok enough EA shilling. Don’t buy their games, they hate gamers and see you as nothing but bags of money, lol.

sigmaklimgrindset,

Can’t believe you said this about the Pinocchio Dark Souls game.

Now we’ll never get a Snow White boomer shooter 😔

sigmaklimgrindset,

I stayed up until 4am trying to beat Simon this past weekend. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry 🥹

sigmaklimgrindset,

Man, bear with me as I’m about sound like an absolute corporate cuck but I interned at EA during my undergrad and had a really positive experience. The work-life balance was probably the best I’ve experienced in a corporate setting.

I still won’t buy their games due to shitty monetization practices, but at least some of the profits (for the EA office I worked at) are actually funnelled into their employee’s compensation. Can’t really say that for FIFA’s oil bribes.

sigmaklimgrindset,

I mean isn’t RE4 VR coming soon? Great candidate for the Apple VR headset (that I have seen no one irl have)

sigmaklimgrindset,

The RE4Remake VR, not the original. It was announced in May.

Bluey's getting a four-player video game adaptation in November (www.eurogamer.net) angielski

Bluey, the Australian cartoon sensation (seriously, it's great and you should give it a watch even if you're not actually five years old), is being turned into a video game that's coming to Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC on 17th November this year....

sigmaklimgrindset,

I am the exact opposite. I enjoyed the combat and the voice acting, hated the story. It was like Game of Thrones with Japanese literary tropes thrown in (not anime tropes, those are different). Imo it dragged on too long.

The eye candy is absolutely surreal tho (and I don’t mean just Clive and Benedikta), especially the Eikon fights. I had a lot of fun with those and the Bahamut one is my current wallpaper.

sigmaklimgrindset,

This is very true, and I agree with you about the combat. The game makes it seem like you have a giant variety in how you can build Clive, but there’s actually like three or four optimal builds. And god help you if you stray from those builds, because the enemies are so tanky that it will take you twice as long to down them, ugh.

The AI controlled party members makes this even worse, as you can’t switch to them to try out a different playstyle like in previous FF. You hack and slash, and you LIKE IT.

Funniest part is the combat in XVI actually made me go back to DMC5. Now THATS some good shit.

sigmaklimgrindset,

Because Bethesda knows that the modding community will polish the game up for free.

sigmaklimgrindset,

So happy to hear this! I bought it on release and finished it yesterday. Then I went back and bought the soundtrack.

Loved the main characters, and loved that it knew exactly how long it needed to be without making it a grindfest. Reminds me very much of my time with Chrono Trigger.

sigmaklimgrindset,

I did a semi-completionist run (without a guide) and it took me about 38h start to finish! I played it on my school/work commutes and sank some evenings into it, the game is pretty generous with save points.

If you have a Switch or a Steam deck, I would highly recommend getting it on there, the game really lends itself to portability and has natural stop points that reminds me of how DS/3DS games were structured back in the day

sigmaklimgrindset,

Yeah I kind of agree with you there, the villain’s motivations were pretty weak imo. But the rest of the game was so charming that I really didn’t mind that much. It was the perfect breather to play in between Baldur’s Gate and Starfield for me.

I definitely have some nostalgia bias, don’t get me wrong, people that didn’t live through the Gameboy/DS/PSP era of RPGs might not be as forgiving. But it really made me miss the days of sitting on the train or the bus playing my DS on the way to school haha. Mobile gaming just doesn’t have the same feeling for me.

Stray is being turned into a movie (www.theverge.com) angielski

Stray, the hit Annapurna Interactive game starring a cat, is getting a “feature adaptation” from Annapurna Animation, according to a press release. Annapurna didn’t share much else about the movie — we still don’t know when it might come out or what it might look like — but if you were a fan of the game and looking...

sigmaklimgrindset,

Wait, I’m so out of the loop.

Nimona, like…the comic I used to read on Tumblr years ago? THAT Nimona???

sigmaklimgrindset,

You have to go into “manage settings” and the second header to get a “reject all cookies” option. Fucking bullshit tbh, because it was lagging out on my phone while I was trying to navigate it

Not counting games that were unfun because of bugs, what’s the most unfun video game that you’ve played and what made it unfun? (kbin.cafe) angielski

Most of the video games I’ve played were pretty good. The only one I can think of that I didn’t like was MySims Kingdom for the Nintendo DS. Dropped that pretty quickly. It was a long while ago, but I’ll guess it was because there were too many fetch quests and annoying controls.

sigmaklimgrindset,

Wait

(ending spoilers for Armored Core VI)

Doesn’t the game have multiple endings, each with it’s own boss fight?

My friend and I both got different endings on our first play throughs, and now we’re in NG+ trying to figure out where we diverged.

sigmaklimgrindset,

Yeah Ayre is the boss my friend got and he also had a hard time with it. I won’t tell you who I got, but it definitely wasn’t as bad.

I decided to Google why we got different bosses, and turns out Ayre is actually intended to be the NG+ boss lol. I have no idea why FromSoft would make two final bosses available for the first play through if they have an intended order for them.

sigmaklimgrindset,

I hope you enjoy the Apollo Justice series! Will you be playing the Investigations series with Edgeworth too?

I played all the Ace Attorney games for the first time during the pandemic and had an absolute blast! The Great Ace Attorney duology is definitely my favourite of the bunch by far, but they are all so charming!
