That other thread got weird and defensive real fast.

You wish there were queues for the custom games like there is for quick play? Trying to understand your comment here.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

The Scylla songs are maybe my favorite part.of the game, and there’s more?!

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Part of the appeal of Hades for me is how it forces you to learn how to fight with different combinations of weapons and modifiers, as well as how differently those weapons play.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

I mean, the money does go somewhere. People get paid while the game is being developed. It’s just that the investors don’t get the ROI.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

It’s… not supposed to make the game better? It’s supposed to make working conditions for the team better.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

You said it’s not going to make the game better, so is the implication not that it’s supposed to make the game better somehow?

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Since the other person came in and tried to act cool or something by only caring about how it affects them (or doesn’t affect them?), I just want to put it out there that the OW team has been making lots of improvements to the game lately. The last patch added a new core game mode that has been pretty popular, along with a new hero, and they’ve reimplemented 6v6 which has been a complaint of a large portion of the playerbase since they went to 5v5 a few years ago.

So, contrary to that other person, I am happy for the OW team for unionizing, and I hope that Blizzard doesn’t do anything to stifle the progress that they have been making lately because they have now unionized.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah that’s a very fair statement to make.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

How do you physically game an FPS?

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Thanks, I was just waking up and was big dumb. Somehow forgot paintball exists.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t think I saw anymore mention Brotato or Balatro. Both fantastic and worth every penny.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Mind if I ask your reasoning for this?

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Calling Stardew unfinished is hilarious.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

I would call it a complete game that was finished a long time ago but has a passionate developer who provides free content updates. It’s definitely not a live service game, as there are no microtransactions and the updates are free.

Is overwatch 2 really that bad?

I’ve played maybe 10 hours total of Overwatch 2 and it is incredibly boring (to me). But it seems to get lots of updates often, heavy monetization which sucks. The steam reviews are scalding. It really makes me wonder… is it that bad? Like really? It’s hard to gauge if the game is thriving or on deaath’s door…

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Keep in mind that a large portion of players don’t have it installed on Steam and use the Battle.net launcher instead (like me).

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Ah, if only I could read more than one sentence at a time…

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

What macrotransactions? The game is free and the only this that’s monetized is cosmetics.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

They’re not essential to playing the game. Just don’t buy them.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

There is not anymore. All characters are unlocked for free.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

I did. You also had to pay $40 to play the game though.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

I believe new players also have all the characters unlocked immediately.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

My argument is don’t buy them. It’s really that simple.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah I realize that looks dumb now. I was thinking of microtransactions that affect gameplay. You know, the important kind.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Oh true, the partially delivered PvE content that was canceled almost immediately after releasing after a year delay.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

He surely has enough money from Stardew to live comfortably for the rest of his life. Why would he need to publish anything?

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah they just stopped updating it and let all their RTS talent go to other companies to make their own games.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

There’s no virtual mouse, are you thinking of the wrong game?

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve always just dragged the cards rather than using successive taps. It’s pretty intuitive in my opinion. I would have never thought to call that a virtual mouse…

Deselecting a card without casting it can be a little tricky, but you can usually tap another card or something without causing an issue.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

In that case you tap the card and it pops up to show the text. Still pretty intuitive. I guess if you’ve never played a deck building game or RPG it could be confusing?

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

The one aspect is slightly unintuitive, but mostly you tap and drag like you would on any mobile interface. There is no"virtual mouse" or anything crazy. It’s wild to me that people would be frustrated out of playing because of the interface.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Wow, a bunch of these changes make sense, but I’m not sure how I feel about making so many changes to make things easier.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Agreed, I gave up on beating gold stake when I would lose most of the runs on the first couple antes. I think it’s good to have a brutally difficult mode, I hope they didn’t go overboard on easing it up, but it was good to ease up a bit.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Could be? Either way it’s a win for the players.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Balatro but not Slay the Spire?

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

I liked Wildfrost, but it didn’t have that much replay value after 30 or so hours, whereas I have 500+ in StS. They have updated it since I last played though, so maybe there’s a bit more to do now?

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

It’s definitely a tough game. The only thing easy about it is taking your turn, missing something important, then dying.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Playing on the gold stake, I think I don’t make it past the first ante like 80% of the time. I might be too greedy or just bad at the game, but in StS I can make a decent run on ascension 20 at a much higher rate.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Slay the Spire is the gold standard for me, at least. I haven’t played Monster Train – it doesn’t look that appealing to me, but I’ve heard good things.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Finding two of those hands with a smaller hand and fewer discards is much harder. I could be miscalculating odds for sure though.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Seems fun maybe if they also add some other stuff to make the combat more interesting. It starts off looking promising then just doesn’t really go anywhere.

rigatti,
@rigatti@lemmy.world avatar

Another Shandalar would be so sick. I don’t have faith that they’ll go for it though. It will be more half-baked, undersupported garbage.
