Day 97 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I’ve been playing until I forget to post Screenshots (lemmy.world) angielski

Today’s game is The Evil Within. I wanted to stick with the horror theme i have going but wanted to pad something in between Alan Wake and Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, so i picked this up. I really enjoyed it, if i’m hopefully still in a horror mood after Alan Wake II i’ll probably continue this (Especially if i...

datavoid,

This game is probably my favourite horror game of all time. That being said, I’m playing Alan Wake 2 currently, and it definitely does better at being scary. AW2 does an amazing job at creating disturbing environments and imagery, while also being oddly beautiful. Reminds me of the Hannibal TV series a lot.

PS5 Homescreen Now Replaces Unique Video Game Art With Annoying Ads You Can’t Turn Off (www.ign.com) angielski

Wow, this is awful. Some people reported that these ads are also very petty and not necessarily related to the game, like apparently Elden Ring shows an ad for a licensed mousepad when you hover over the game now…...

datavoid,

Same for me with my series x, MS has all the same bullshit

datavoid,

I feel like both ubi and gog launchers are basically unusable. I have no idea why gog doesn’t fix their shit

What's your favorite Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (or Tears of the Kingdom) clone?

datavoid,

Such a good game… note that it involves more puzzles and thinking than Zelda

datavoid,

Thanks for sharing, super interesting story. Glad you get to relax for the foreseeable future!

datavoid,

Who is out here downvoting in defense of yt shorts?

datavoid,

with touchups by rob mcelhenney.

But… why?

datavoid, (edited )

I was a heavy Xbox user up until last year when they redesigned the Xbox home screen.

Instead of being able to pin multiple groups of custom apps/games wherever you want, you now only get one group pinned about halfway down the page past several rows of ads. There are generally at least 5 separate rows of ads on the homescreen at all times.

I have a series x (also had an original, 360, and one), and will 100% not be buying another console from Microsoft. The joy of using my expensive console was ruined by ads.

I need to finish Elden Ring, after which my Xbox will be used as a steaming device for videos from my PC or Kodi exclusively.

Edit - upon checking it looks like you can actually pin 2 custom groups. But there are also really 14 rows of ads, not 5, so…

datavoid,

Instead, I think they’re just about to change end the console market as we know it.

FTFY

datavoid,

Possibly. I can see Xbox backing out personally, and just putting their games on PC and the other consoles.

Sony will probably carry on… and Nintendo likely has a detailed business plan for the next 100 years.

datavoid,

Fair - I’d be surprised if they haven’t already been working on a ps6 for years though.

In my mind Nintendo is going to be more or less immune to the death of the console market. They did have done a really, really good job at making fun games since the 80s, and have also traditionally had the cheapest hardware (not that that will matter if the competition goes away). I might impulsively buy whatever Nintendo’s next console is just for Zelda or Metroid, even though Nintendo as a company pisses me off.

datavoid,

Ya I’ve considered that route.

I’ve messed around with switch emulation on more powerful hardware, but for the simplicity of getting things workings I think I prefer the official console. The performance I had I my PC was not outstanding either.

datavoid,

Reminds me of the time I got banned from Xbox live communication for like 24 hours for writing a boss name in a looking for group post, thanks M$

datavoid,

Why would you choose now of all times to double down on Bethesda??

Why not do something useful with Starcraft, Warcraft, or an Activision property like Guitar Hero or Tony Hawk? Bethesda has been proving for the last 8 years that they can’t keep up.

datavoid,

I got into metroid in 2014 or 2015 during the 3DS era. Someone mentioned that Super Metroid was their favourite game growing up, so I decided to give it a shot. I had only played the NDS metroid games before, so I didn’t really know what to expect.

I ended up being completely blown away, and I think I replayed the game within a year, which is incredibly rare for me - one of the only other games I can think of doing this for was the first Ori game (I have a thing for tight platformers, what can I say).

I’d say super metroid is one of my all time favourite games now, probably number 2 on the SNES to Link to the Past. In terms of influence, I’d put it up there with dark souls.

Last year I also played Prime for the first time when the remaster came out, and loved that too. Really hoping they release 2 and 3!

datavoid,

I only play games where there us some sort of warrior on a white background

datavoid,

I’ve played Final Fantasy Tactics a lot over the years, I like the PS1 version but the true nostalgia for me is the GBA version.

I’ve also been loving the exodos / win3x projects, DOS games were my childhood 🙂

datavoid,

How is the latency in moonlight? Thinking about trying it

datavoid,

I’d imagine apple has more power to give vr/ar cultural relevance than Google or MS. Apple fans are in their own extremely expensive league, and I’m sure there will be premium VR apps developed now. Even the quest 3 seems to be starting to get better software now, come to think of it.

datavoid,

Never heard of this being a term - what does it mean?

datavoid,

Random question - does anyone know where to find the original for android, WITHOUT involving fucking netflix?

datavoid,

Downside is that you would need a controller for usable input, and most people dont have a Bluetooth controller on them

datavoid,

Solid choices

datavoid,

Dark souls, dishonored, Zelda (probably lttp or oot).

Also probably minecraft

What is some very predatory, sneaky and popular among children game?

I’ll be doing a workshop in a few weeks, and I wanna raise awareness about predatory lootbox paytowin games. I wanna play live, an easy to start playing and understand game, that is so sneaky and predatory that some kid would very easily buy some microtransaction or lootbox without even realizing what they just did....

datavoid,

My wife made me play fornite with her - they are actually pretty generous with skins etc. If you buy a battle pass once, it’s pretty easy to keep unlocking it in future seasons. Maybe that is predatory in some addictive way I guess… but persoanlly after avoiding fornite for years, I was pleasantly surprised how they let you earn things.

datavoid,

If the great reddit exodus taught me anything, it’s that I will happily abandon something I’ve enjoyed for over 10 years as soon as it becomes obvious how self-centered its goals are.

datavoid,

Haven’t you heard, microtransactions are what make games fun!

datavoid,

Music in this game is probably in my top 5

datavoid,

I ended up giving AirVPN a shot - seems like the best option I think. Easy to get openvpn or wireguard set up, and it works great with qbit. Having 5 ports is awesome, have 2 on each of my PCs and one on my phone.

My only issue is I can’t seem to get the port forwarding working with Nicotine+, for some reason it just won’t open the port like qbittorrent does. Downloading works fine, I just doubt anyone can see what I’m sharing

The Steam Deck is changing how normies think of gaming PCs.

Just thought I’d share something I thought was pretty interesting. I have a mother in law who is… well let’s just say she’s a stereotypical older mom who doesn’t own a computer, just an iPad. During the pandemic, she started getting into Nintendo games and bought herself a Switch. Fast forward a few years later and...
