I basically play every game a year late nowadays. When I don’t I almost always regret it because they tend to announce DLCs or expansions just as soon as I’m finished with the game and I don’t replay games (hardly have enough time to play through them once as it it)
They can also probably do some accounting hijinks to write off these “losses” while still profiting on it for a long long time. But this is purely speculative on my part, I’m not an accountant so I’m not sure something like that can be done.
Not worth going through the trouble of installing this unless you only have games on Steam. The best thing about the Ally is the compatibility thanks to windows. If it offered better performance, then it would be worth it just to play steam games.
Yes but that defeats the point since you still have to go into desktop mode to install the other games. And more importantly It doesn’t support Gamepass.
For the Ally there’s just not enough benefits to go through the effort, I’ll reiterate.
I thought a dedicated GOG News post might be a nice change-of-pace. I’m not sure how much I can find or cover here, that hasn’t already been shared in any case…but I do love GOG, and I feel they get a little less publicity or cover than the obvious alternative of Steam…so here we go :)...
I’ll buy this when it’s $20 with all expansions in two years.
It’s not because of Randy Bobandy here, him making an inane, alienating comment is his gimmick at this point and should be expected. It’s t because I found that if I play a game on release I end up playing the worst version of the game. And then I never play expansions because I rarely replay games and I’m not about to play an expansion to a game I haven’t played in a year without replaying the base game again.
So I buy games a year late, at half the price. I love gaming.
I don’t really understand this mentality. Is it a younger gamer thing? I can enjoy games on their own merits without having to compare them with anything else. Besides, the best aspect of Avowed is its gameyness so to speak . It’s just the right length and pick up and play enough that busy people like me can play it and actually finish it. I’ve been meaning to play BG3 but I if I do I have to commit to it for a year at least, and that’s a hard pill to swallow. And I always finish every game I start, especially RPGs.
Bro what do you mean, if there’s a single franchise that has not changed its mechanics is Pokémon. Maybe you mean a game absent the gimmick mechanic they put in every gen? Or are you crazy enough to suggest we go back to the days before physical/special split?
Yeah I agree, the only one of these gimmicks that has been somewhat good is mega evolutions and they are still not great from a balance standpoint. Other than that I struggle to see how fundamentally different modern Pokémon games are from the old ones. There’s a lot of QoL stuff, but most of it is easily ignorable imo.
I think that you might want to look at rom-hacks like someone else suggested. You’ll probably find what you’re looking for in one of the hundreds that have been made.

I have found that adept gets more balanced as you level up, I’m level 8 right now and I’ve had a few challenging fights. I had to reload before the arena fight with the twin bosmers because I simply cannot beat them. But yeah it is waay too easy at the start, which arguably is when it should be the most challenging.
Expert is just insane. Who ever plays in master really needs to get their head checked, I imagine fighting two enemies takes half an hour of hacking away while chugging stacks of health pots.
Well I mean, you can choose not to use the powerful restoration spell. Especially with spell crafting you can create one that’s better tuned to the level of difficulty you like.
In the graveyard of live service games Concord may just be the biggest headstone, and that seems to have focused some minds over at PlayStation. Previously the noises coming from Sony were all about the importance of live service games to its future strategy, and it had announced plans to launch more than 10 live service games...
All I read here is that there are still 8 too many live service games in development. Are execs addicted to gambling or what? Because that’s exactly what live service game development is. Also I would like to know what kind of research they are doing that indicates that more live service games is what the market wants, when people who play them rarely ever switch once they find the one they like and at this point there are entirely too many of them.
They actively become easier and shorter every generation. Arceus brought a lot of cool stuff into the series and there was a little bit of hope that things would improve only for them to go back to the stale old formula that wouldn’t be as bad if the games weren’t so easy now that you could beat them by mashing A. I know it’s for kids but damn, the old games were somewhat challenging.
The ROG Crate software is actually pretty good. It’s not perfect but I rarely have to interact with Windows at all and once you get used to the controls when doing so not all that bad. And I dislike Windows a lot, but if I feel that it’s mostly a non issue. I wouldn’t go for a SteamOS version either, as I like Gamepass.
It is literally the biggest money maker in the world. The games sell about 3/5 as many copies as COD with a tiny fraction of the budget. And then they sell even more in merch. And there are people (like me in the past) that buy Nintendo consoles just for those games.
Right, the only real issue imo is the lack of a proper sleep mode. Hopefully Microsoft addresses this issue when/if they truly build a handheld windows experience.
And yep, I’ll stick with Gamepass until enshitification runs its course. When it does then I’ll switch to SteamOS. But for now the service is still great for me.
Can they though? Isn’t the responsibility of porting games to Linux that of the developer? They could create a Gamepass for Linux but that would probably entail more money spent on licensing that platform, and funding ports which they certainly have no economic incentive to do.
That being said, they seem really committed to their “everything is an Xbox” strategy so it would not surprise me terribly if they ended teaming up with Valve at some point and created some kind of Gamepass on Steam thing, where you can play Gamepass games directly from steam or something, which would presumably also include the MacOS and Linux versions of the game if they are available.
