Phegan,

Good thing that name isn’t taken within the ARPG space for another competitive event.

Starbreeze admits Payday 3 is massively underperforming (www.gamedeveloper.com) angielski

Payday 3 launched for Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S in September 2023 but has seemingly struggled to win over players. The title currently has a ‘mixed’ rating on Steam with over 36,000 user reviews, although the vast majority of recent reviews have been ‘mostly negative.’...

Phegan,

I hope the take away from this is that no matter if a game is live service or not it needs to run, not nickel dime players, and be good. Or it will bust.

Phegan,

Yessss. More unions across the gaming industry

Phegan,

Is this intentional posted with a timestamp at the 600s mark?

Phegan,

The palworld devs never worked on Pokemon. The dark and darker devs were, allegedly, employees of Nexon working on a similar game. It’s completely different

Phegan,

Blizzard games haven’t been able to compete in genre for over a decade.

Phegan,

Slowly becoming the reddit replacement we don’t deserve.

Phegan,

Been in early access for a while, this is gonna be so hype

Phegan,

Just like companies aggressively used NFTs and we know how well that worked out.

Phegan,

That’s still not really AI, it’s just procedural generation wrapped in a new buzz word.

Baldur's Gate 3 'Isn't Going to be on Game Pass', Insists Larian Boss (www.ign.com) angielski

In a new interview with IGN, Larian Studios boss Swen Vincke responded to questions about Baldur's Gate 3 being on Xbox Game Pass, explaining why the best RPG of 2023 won't be on Microsoft's subscription service anytime soon.

Phegan,

Game pass might be a good deal, and I don’t fault anyone for wanting to maximize gaming on a budget, but the transition to subscription based gaming is going to be very bad for studios in the long term.

Phegan,

I didn’t hate Starfield, but there is no way it deserves to be on any best list.

Phegan,

Path of exile: Affliction. It’s fun.

Phegan,

I think embracer group bought them?

Phegan,

Also, fixing your fucked it game isn’t ongoing either. CP2077 in this category is a disgrace. They shipped a buggy game, released DLC and actually finished the game and then won an award for it. Bullshit.

Phegan,

If they take everything they learned along the way with NMS and release a polished game, this is going to be a ton of fun.

NMS is in a strange place for me, it’s a game that will clock hundreds of hours but likely will never make it on a top 10 list for me. It’s a game I can always go back to, but not something I will rave about.

If LNF hits that, I will still be very happy with it

Phegan,

At the end of the day it’s the same as something like FunkoPop, you are paying for a digital or physical piece of nostalgia. Neither are for me, but it is what it is

Phegan,

I suspect they are taking the Spotify approach. They will have a low price for a great value to monopolize the market. Then over time increase the price and reduce features and value.

Phegan,

Microsoft is becoming the Spotify of gaming. You own nothing, they pay the creators garbage and we are so dependent on the system it’s hard to leave it.

We need to resist this.

Phegan,

It is evil, they are trying to replicate what happened in streaming and music in the gaming space. They want to remove digital ownership

Phegan,

After what HiRez did to Ascent, I am out on any game the ship until they prove they won’t do it dirty.

Phegan,

Embracer is single handedly destroying enough studios to set the industry back a number of years.

Phegan,

I played 50 hours of Starfield. I had fun.

But two things are true. It’s a step back from no man’s sky and it’s not worth playing more than 50 dollars for.

Phegan,

Large companies are driven by one thing and only one thing. Shareholder value. So they and their subsidiaries will implement policies that drive shareholder value at the cost of everything else.

Phegan,

As a solo player, the 3v3 nature rules it out for me, but I hope those who enjoy that style have fun with it.

Phegan,

Back to no man’s sky on my deck. Haven’t played in about a year so I have a couple content updates to explore

Phegan,

Just another office where they will layoff a team when the profits aren’t high enough.

Bungie CEO Claims Layoffs Were Due to Destiny 2 Underperformance - IGN (www.ign.com) angielski

In an internal town hall meeting addressing a Monday round of layoffs that impacted multiple departments, Bungie CEO Pete Parsons allegedly told remaining employees that the company had kept “the right people” to continue work on Destiny 2.

Phegan,

Then stop pushing the player base away with predatory profiteering tactics.

This is on leadership, not the workers. It’s a shame they have to suffer for the mistakes of a profit greedy leadership team.

Phegan,

The last thing workers want to hear is “the right people” when they see their friends and colleagues laid off. I was at a company that said that after a round of layoffs, the CEO got absolutely roasted for saying it.

Phegan,

It’s on the publisher the first time. It’s on you if you keep buying them.

Phegan,

I played a bit at release. Have they finished the game yet?

Phegan,

The problem is, even if they get rid of bobby kotick, he still wins. He is going to walk a way with millions of dollars in a separation agreement.

Phegan,

I feel like there is no shortage of new things, especially from indie developers

Phegan,

Didn’t they just buy Bandcamp?

Phegan,

I’ve heard that’s a saying in Tennessee, I mean Texas, they probably have it in Tennessee

Phegan,

Gender identity is only political because conservatives made it political. Choice of pronouns shouldn’t be political. What gender you are shouldn’t be political. These people make it political and then it has to be removed from apolitical discussions. Just like how climate change has been made political, it’s not, we’re all going to fucking die, that’s not political.

Phegan,

At a recent talk at Exilecon, one of the creators of Diablo 1 and 2 said that the best thing you can do to get into the game industry is to mod, the first thing they look at is modding experience.

Phegan,

I love ARPGs, I grew up on diablo 2, have been playing path of exile for 10 years, but Grim Dawn has yet to resonate with me. What am I doing wrong? So many people speak highly of it, at this point, it has to be on me.
