Lesrid,

Because they don’t need touchpads and like an asymmetrical layout

Lesrid,

It was my first Rated M game and it set the bar impossibly high

Gameplay mechanics were also a lot better with more replayability. (lemmy.world) angielski

Ignoring the lack of updates if the game is buggy, games back then were also more focused on quality and make gamers replay the game with unlockable features based on skills, not money. I can’t count the number of times I played Metal Gear Solid games over and over to unlock new features playing the hardest difficulty and with...

Lesrid,

My neighborhood was just poor enough that basically no kid had a PS memory card. They were all jealous of my n64’s ability to save on the cartridges. When the PS2 and GameCube rolled around we just left the machines on all day again

Lesrid,

Let me gift games, let me wishlist games to receive gifts. There’s lots of other features I would also like but if other stores had that I’d be much more inclined to use the other stores.

Lesrid,

One thing I loved about Elite was the collection of mini games. Navigating through the space station to your landing pad, finding a suitable patch of surface to touchdown on a planet, having to fight or yield to a supercruise interdiction, they all came together to make Elite feel like a driving game where your vehicle happens to be a spaceship.

In No Man’s Sky landing and takeoff are achieved with a singular button press. And the ship combat is there to check a box. The game is mostly about taking pics of flora and fauna and digging trenches in planets for minerals.

Lesrid,

I really enjoyed the writing of the side characters in the N64 games. Sure most only had two maybe three things to say outside a side quest but they all had a nugget of commentary on the human condition.

Lesrid,

The sort of alternate universe I yearned for once upon a time was Zelda continuing to be about time gimmicks. OoT had two points in a timeline, MM had the groundhog’s labor day weekend, and there was oracle of ages/seasons by Capcom. I guess there’s only so many ways to spin it though.

Lesrid,

Brand recognition is cool and all but the rest of the world wants numbers or entirely new names, cmon N**ntendo.

Lesrid,

I loved getting my Assist medals in BF3 for consistently being just a bit slower than my opponent and dropping them down to 5% health. I am keeping the tradition alive in Finals

Lesrid,

It’s a common issue with lots of team play games. The other player decided that it was better to have two people operating separate mortars than to have one of them provide small arms cover on the flanks of the tank.

Helldivers 2 has a similar problem where some players can help other players reload their larger weapons at a much faster rate than typically; however the player base decided that it’s better to fan out and each operate the weapon solo because shots do not need to be made so rapidly and clumping together increases the odds both players die.

Lesrid,

I rather disliked the whole ‘your primary weapon is not supposed to be the weapon you primarily use’. Fine then rename them to small, medium, large or something instead of leading me to believe I should be able to kill a smaller horde without a Destroyer or Eagle.

Lesrid,

Maybe my friends are too drunk but with the shield and the railgun we still get about three bile titans per breach and breaches retrigger regularly. With automatons it is easy for us to kite circularly, thereby reducing the number of patrols we drag in, but the speed of bugs leads us to back pedal across the map. If you care to share advice I would welcome it.

Lesrid,

The man in the ivory tower even says under the railgun heading that they are aware that one of the reasons the railgun is popular is because other anti-armor sucks. Respectfully sir that’s like the only reason. Your CEO said on Twitter that the ass of a charger is not a weak point, merely an unarmored point; well all the same I need my partner to get the charger to face the other way to hit its butt since I need multiple recoilless rounds to kill it.

Lesrid,

That’s what they mean though. Weakspots multiply the damage received. Their only lever without redesigning the way weakspots function is to drop base damage.

The Arc Thrower for example ignores armor but does relatively low damage, however sometimes it will oneshot a beefier enemy when the arc hits a weakspot. Even with the flamethrower it is better to hit the charger’s armored leg because that is a weakspot on that enemy.

Lesrid,

No the laser cannon is supposed to be an lmg that you don’t need to reload. It only got its buff because people were confused about a weapon with ‘cannon’ in the name, that you have to rest on your shoulder, getting completely blocked by armor. But initially the lascan was completely in line with other laser weapons.

Even the orbital laser weapon only kills chargers and bile titans by reapplying the fire DoT unless you strip top armor first. And the scythe primary weapon is a complete waste of everyone’s time since it is eclipsed by any DMR.

Lesrid,

My biggest complaint with R* games is that they refuse to let players leverage the open world to even a minor extent in their missions. I understand that restrictions are important to telling the story and can even nurture creativity but for as detailed the world and fairly deep their systems are their missions are quite dictatorial.

Lesrid,

Anyone have recommendations for an executive style chair with a high back? I assume the reason why I can’t find them anywhere is a combination of them being a larger box by volume and something about ergonomics but I love reclining in a chair with a high slightly wide back that doesn’t put all the weight onto my feet like ‘racer’ style chairs tend to do.

Lesrid,

IIRC even Nintendo Power had an acerbic fan mail section

Lesrid,

Are you referring to the Scratch nerf? Skimming the notes I don’t see a huge change in how combat plays out.

Lesrid,

I’ve been obsessed with Helldivers 2 since release. Thankfully the patches are coming along and the game gets a bit more stable every day.

Lesrid,

I had a bug where the obstacle you’re meant to crouch under spawned in at a height too low even for crawling. I had no idea it was a bug because I had never seen the tutorial before. After leaving and re-entering the tutorial it spawned in at the correct height.

Game is awesome though. If they smooth out the experience it will be my shooter of the year.

Lesrid,

Thanks for the heads up. HumbleBundle still has keys available.

Lesrid,

I own most of my games on Steam. But I prefer carts for the Switch, the Nintendo Account stuff has always been a pain to me. So long as digital is simple and lets me share games to an extent, I am happy.

Lesrid,

He’s a CEO of a relatively small company that is product focused. He has yet to grow and focus margins in any serious way.

Lesrid,

Revisiting DOS2 after playing BG3, the game feels like Splatoon: Painted surfaces everywhere, all the time.

Lesrid,

Imagine if we quit our jobs if we didn’t get an annual raise. Maybe we could afford housing.

Lesrid,

If Steam’s built in remote play doesn’t quite meet performance needs then look into Moonlight. That software, with some help from Tailscale, lets me stream Yuzu from home to my deck at work, and I cannot perceive the input lag though I’m no snob.

Lesrid,

You’d have to change Daggerfall so that you can’t run, only fast travel, between dungeons and cities to truly mirror the Starfield experience.

Lesrid,

Their publishing policies have been terrible lately as well. CA is getting the juice pressed out of them.

Lesrid,

Well BRCF has one Naganuma track, so by that metric Bomb Rush is in the lead by a wide margin.

Lesrid,

I find it a little upsetting that 5’s parody has become only a slight exaggeration of reality

Lesrid,

No it does not. It has HDR though and a 90Hz refresh rate.

Lesrid,

I was waiting for bikes, now I’ll be waiting for this as well.

Lesrid,

They also added in the revert from THPS3 Wow I was hoping for a 3+4 because of revert. Now I have something to look forward to next month.

Lesrid,

And even then it only borrows the bullet points of the story. I prefer the approach they took with this game compared to say FF7’s where the story definitely feels like it’s improved if you are more familiar with the original.

Lesrid,

It’s infuriating to me that only Steam and EA’s stores have gifting built in. Most of my games budget goes to buying small-squad multiplayer games like Deep Rock Galactic and Sea of Thieves for people.

Sure you can buy a key anywhere but I love seeing at a glance that an acquaintance has a particular DLC or game to surprise them rather than asking them first. And then there’s a small chance they thank you for the key and pass it on to someone else instead of just telling you they don’t like game, while Steam has a handy decline button.

Lesrid,

Friends are shocked to hear Kingdom Hearts is on PC. But it’s Epic exclusive.

Lesrid,

iFixit’s pro kit is great even if you only open up one device a year

Lesrid,

If anything is moving backwards through the air, you know it was bolted on to code for Skyrim’s dragons
