i just started streaming this game today after avoiding nearly everything about it, and WOW!! so good already! something this good only comes out once every 5 or 10 years, assuming it keeps up at the same quality of everything I’ve seen so far. I’m only 4 hours in but very impressed by basically every category you can look at a game. and the entire premise being a hyper focused allegory for mortality itself that we all face is very clever, even if very bleak. i can’t wait to see where this game goes! if you wanna watch me on the expedition, hit up www.youtube.com/www.twitch.tv/crustyoldhuman

i got a Powkiddy rgb20sx and I LOVE IT. SO MUCH.

i agree with everything you said, they take some willingness to tinker but boy is the payoff worth it. now that i have the library set up i can swap it out with any device and play anything in the future. i was never a big fan of portable consoles, but having all the retro titles in one little machine is just such a perfect thing. i only paid 60 bucks for my powkiddy, worth every penny

i frankly don’t see anything they could do that wouldn’t be copying mods that already exist.

imo they should have injected the portal gun into half life 3 and carried it on from there, but I’m just some guy on the internet.

i disagree and think it would have been really neat if they explored that idea. they use the portal gun all the time in Garry’s mod maps and plenty of them have great gameplay. they would not have been able to make another boomer shooter, that’s for sure. but valve is great at innovating when they need to, I don’t think encouraging them to keep doing the same thing benefits anyone but their own wallets.

you perfectly nailed the reason i don’t even use rtx. the side by sides just arent good enough, in the actual games. I can’t justify the additional performance hit when i literally cannot tell the difference in reflections when swapping between the two on a real gameplay setting. sure it looks different, but better? more often than not, no. obviously this all varies in degree game to game depending how it was designed. Hogwarts Legacy rtx DID look better, but it wasnt enough to justify it. the baked scenes were great looking too.

I spent 20$ on the last game i played, and put over 140 hours into it. Just saying.

Same. I beat that entire game and put at least 40 hours into it I’m sure, and I couldn’t tell you a single plot point. It’s been a few years for sure, but I haven’t played Mass effect in like a decade and I could tell you the entire story from beginning to end.

The ps2 had THE BEST library of any console, even to this day. I am still learning about random hiddem gems ive never heard of on it, and I’ve been gaming for 25 years

This team has been making the exact same game for multiple decades. Look at this developer’s game history. It is literally the same exact game redeveloped over and over every few years and then they repackage and resell the same DLCs for the new versions. What a con of a game dev.

You don’t think it’s conny at all that literally all they do is make city builders and sell DLCs and then make a new one when interest dries up? Doesn’t seem very creative or innovative in my opinion it sounds like pure capitalism. Publisher is a microcosm EA.

I literally cannot believe they actually finished it. I played up until the secrets of mana dungeon like a decade ago and that was all they had at the time. I had long since figured this game would never see 1.0 after so many years of them seemingly only pushing arcade mode updates, which i could care less about. Happy to FINALLY be able to play! Great couch co op pixel combat 👌👌

Without any spoilers, i thought the overall message of the game was VERY anti-russia. But you really need both ends to get the full picture.

I’m playing this game right now and it’s honestly a six out of 10. The only reason to launch the game at all is because of the world design which is top notch. So top notch it scores all of those six points, because the plot characters story and gameplay are all a let down otherwise. This is the type of game that will disable the controls for your magical flying broom and then tell you that you need to climb a wall. I wish it wasn’t so successful so they didn’t think this formula was so good, because if they made the game actually good AND a Harry Potter property, that would have really been something special. But as it is now, it’s just an uninspired video game painted in a pretty coat of a popular franchise. I’m sure we’ll get a sequel.

Subnautica gets a 9/10. Fallout 2 and 3, if we’re specifically going RPGs. NieR: Automata for action RPGs. Look at Persona for school influenced RPGs. I’d have geeked out so hard if we got even Persona-style class experiences in Hogwarts Legacy. Instead, all we get is completely contextless montage cutscenes.

Have you tried the combat update? One of the big reasons I was interested in the game was because it seemed relaxing and chill, but after learning about the added combat I feel a little turned off. Any thoughts?

I think Xbox game pass is a great service for people who can’t afford PCs or consoles, but not being one of those people I had to stop using the service. I kept noticing games I was excited about playing before they were released I would only touch for a few hours and basically forget about them after a couple sessions. I had atomic heart on my steam wish list for years and I followed its development eagerly, but when it came out I got it on game pass instead of waiting to get it on a good sale on my steam account like I normally do, and despite enjoying the first 3 hours I still haven’t played it again. The only thing I can conclude is the nature of game pass itself has robbed the specialness of new games.

I never had a problem with giving up a game i wasn’t enjoying, but i can see it being nice for removing that commitment if you find yourself overstaying your welcome in a game you’re not really enjoying just to get your moneys worth.

It’s not that I want gamepass to go away or think it’s bad. But i can’t help but notice the second a game releases to gamepass I’m less interested in it. Commodifying games has done what was intended, i suppose…made them a commodity rather than something special.

I guess this also makes more sense in 2023, where AAA games are often not very good and often even broken on launch, or incomplete with day one dlcs. Not very tempting to drop 60$ on a product like that.

I think the conclusion I’m coming to, is game pass is a good solution for the annoying terrible state the game industry is currently in. But not for me personally. I’m too jaded to pay attention to new games, I stick with my classic titles and indies mostly.
