EveningPancakes,

I’m new to VR. Over the past few months I was considering a Meta Quest 3, specifically because I wanted to finally play Half-Life Alyx. However, I really didn’t want to give Meta money/data (I deleted Facebook back in 2019), so that’s why I’ve held off for so long in hopes that either Valve updates the Index or another option comes out.

Could you elaborate what I’m missing with some of these features compared to a Meta Quest 3 or Valve Index from a PC perspective? In my eyes, playing this on PS5 is a bonus to me.

HDR - I understand colors won’t be as deep and brightness/blacks as high/deep which is a bummer considering the OLED screens inside the PSVR. I don’t think the Meta Quest 3 had HDR? Neither does the Index?

Headset feedback - vibration on head? I’m assuming the other headsets don’t have this, so I’m not missing much from PC games that don’t leverage this.

Eye tracking - I don’t believe Meta Quest 3 has this, neither does the Index? So it’s in parity with the PC feature set?

Adaptive Triggers - I have a PS5 and when this feature turns on, it’s kinda cool for a second but then it gets old fast. The only really good execution of Adaptive Triggers I’ve experienced so far is in Returnal. I just finished up FF7 Rebirth and the adaptive trigger sequences in there seemed dumb and unnecessary.

Haptic feedback - is this just a more detailed rumble?

I guess my main question is, doesn’t this seems like the better option when compared to a Valve Index or Meta Quest 3? For my particular circumstance,I don’t mind being tethered by a cable (at least I don’t think I will, again I’m new to VR. Besides I’d be tethered anyway using a meta quest 3 on PC) and the headset screens on the PSVR2 seem to be really nice compared to the others.

EveningPancakes,

How about fixing cloud saves between PC and Steam Deck?

EveningPancakes,

Nope, it’s a bug with how Nightdive coded the save path. Since they made a native Linux version of the game, Steam is using that as opposed to doing Proton compatibility. So that means the save paths in the Linux version and the Windows version aren’t the same, hence not syncing properly.

EveningPancakes,

Hopefully with this they also release the patch that fixes cloud saves between Steam Deck and PC that’s been an issue since day 1…

EveningPancakes,

Once I changed my mindset to “this map of the solar system is really just like a flat plane in Fallout New Vegas, except with extra steps” then I was able to enjoy it more. I think games like No Mans Sky spoiled people in terms of an engaging space travel mechanic, even though Bethesda was honest from the beginning about there not being transitions into/out of planet atmospheres.

The opening story about joining Constellation was pretty weak though.

EveningPancakes,

Okay true, but same formula still applies

Steam's Oldest User Accounts Turn 20, Valve Celebrates With Special Digital Badges - IGN (www.ign.com) angielski

Some of Steam’s oldest user accounts are turning 20-years old this week, and Valve is celebrating the anniversary by handing out special digital badges featuring the original Steam colour scheme to the gaming veterans....

EveningPancakes,

Mine is @yahoo, really wish I could change it.

EveningPancakes,

You’re thinking about Counter Strike Source, which was on the new (at that point) Source engine. CS:Source is what came after CS 1.6

EveningPancakes, (edited )

Hmm I’ve definitely changed the email that was associated with the account name, but the account name I think originally required an email domain in the field? That is something that you cannot change. It’s fine though, because the user name can be changed.

Found it on the FAQ, Account ID can’t be changed - help.steampowered.com/en/…/2816-BE67-5B69-0FEC

EveningPancakes,

I guess I was dumb when creating it back then.

EveningPancakes,

Yeah I dunno, maybe I was dumb back then but I’ve seen others posting similar questions/observations on Reddit and elsewhere before. Thankfully Steam lets you change the display profile name.

EveningPancakes,

I’m over here still trying to finish Elden Ring.

EveningPancakes,

I’m also in the end game part, trying to max out my hearts before putting the game away. I’ve been using Mapgenie.io to help me figure out what Shrines I don’t have. While I love the exploration and the sensor+ helps point you in the right direction, I just want to wrap this one up soon to get to other games in my backlog.

EveningPancakes,

Powering through Tears of The Kingdom. Just finished up the last temple I had. Probably going to go hunt down a few more shrines for more hearts.

Last week my launch Switch from 2017 started to kick the bucket, displaying a blue screen. I was able to get it booted back up once randomly, which prompted me to immediately resubscribe to Nintendo Switch Online so I could get cloud back up saves for all my games. After that one session, it went back to doing the blue screen and never booted up properly again. I really hate that cloud saves are being a paid functionality and wish it was a little more gracious like with what Xbox offers.

Fast forward a few days, I picked up an OLED Switch and transferred what was available from cloud data. Thankfully TOTK was there but I was missing a number of games I thought I had back up but we’re missing. Out of all, I think I’m most bummed about missing my Smash save data. Having to unlock all of those characters again now too. Everything else I lost I either completed already or had fallen off. I get why Nintendo doesn’t allow saves on the SD card but that really would have saved me some headache.

I shipped the old Switch off to get fixed by Nintendo, received it today but in the end they did not repair and simply gave me another unit, without my old data :(
