Okay let me start with two heavy hitters right from the get go and don’t forget these are only personal oppinions and I absolute understand if you like those games. Good for you!...
Zelda breath of the wild - it’s one of the worst Zelda games I’ve ever played and I’ve played so many. There were so many bad decisions made with this game from weapons breaking to getting rid of traditional dungeons. It’s a great open world game but a terrible Zelda game.
The Horizon series by Guerilla Games - These games are good for the most part, however they suffer from long stretches of boring open world where you have to fight robot dinosaurs with underpowered weapons. The whole point of the combat is to find weaknesses with the enemies and exploit/attack those weaknesses, but the game never at any point explicitly explains that concept or focuses on that concept. It expects you to just understand what to do. Not to mention the absolutely stupid grinding for mats to make new weapons and armor. Melee combat is terrible, the story for the most part is pretty good but man does it take forever to pick up, it overstays it’s welcome. They are technical powerhouses but just so grindy and boring.
Despite being nominated for numerous awards and even winning Game of the Year in 2018, the creator of God of War, David Jaffe, is not a huge fan of the new direction the series has gone in. Jaffe himself hasn't worked on these new God of War games, but thinks that they're not staying true to the spirit of the character and the...
I played about 3 hours of 2018, and my honest opinion is that the story was kind of interesting, but the gameplay was slow and clunky. The most fun I had with my time was the fight in the beginning with Baldur, and most of it was a cutscene. I prefer the gameplay and fluidity of combat in the original trilogy, which I have beaten, to this new version. With that being said, it’s still a good game, just not my cup of tea.
You realize cyberpunk wasn’t the only game they’ve made that needed fixed after release right? Both W1 and 2 had enhanced edition patches to fix the broken shit in both games. W1 was a 7/10 game on release by multiple outlets. W3 was the first game they actually took their time with and delayed multiple times to avoid the enhanced edition patches. Anyone who thought cyberpunk was going to be flawless on release was breathing in that hopium.
I literally can’t play this game, my PC has 16GB of RAM and it runs out of free memory after like 10 minutes and crashes to desktop. When your “fix” is to just buy more RAM or increase your page file size, then your game is a fucking scam. I understand new games require more powerful hardware, but this is Amazon lumberyard ffs.
Obsidian really got the last laugh considering what Bethesda did to them with New Vegas. Now the roles have essentially been reversed. I’m really looking forward to Avowed.
These could be games that left a lasting impression on you, games that had stellar gameplay mechanics, characters that captivated you, games that you played tons of hours on, etc.
I see articles about ex-devs standing up studios and then they never have anything to show for it, even years later there’s nothing to show. This has been happening for years and the first game I’ve seen from any ex-dev team is stormgate from ex-starcraft devs.
While Take-Two is riding high on their announcement that a GTA 6 trailer is coming, its CEO has some…interesting ideas on how much video games could cost, part of a contingent of executives that believe games are underpriced, given their cost, length or some combination of the two.
Literally a used Switch game in a big, ridiculous bag with a “New” sticker on it. Imagine going into a GameStop with a game in a bag like this and convincing them to give you credit for it as “New”....
I went in to a GameStop to buy a new switch charger because my kids lost it on vacation. They told me you have to buy the right kind of charger, I was very confused because I thought Nintendo only sells one kind of charger for the switch. I told the guy I’m using it with a docking station and he pulled out some shitty GameStop branded charger and I said no thanks. The guy proceeded to tell me I would have to buy the charger directly from Nintendo…I went down the road to target and bought one off the shelf after like 5 minutes of looking. Fucking shameless GameStop…
Just to make sure I wasn’t going insane, I looked at Nintendo’s website, and sure enough they only sell one kind of charger for the Nintendo switch. There’s some weird smaller charger they sell for accessories like the pokeball thing for let’s go Pikachu but they very clearly spell that out when you purchase the charger.
You don’t want to be using any random USB-C charger for your switch. The Nintendo switch doesn’t adhere to USB-C power delivery standards and using a different charger can cause problems. That’s why all of those third party docks were burning up switches when the switch first came out.
The docks were standard USB-C docks, but since the switch doesn’t follow proper USB-C standards because Nintendo, the docks were providing too much current and burning up switches. I will never use a third party charger for my switches, although if I did use one, the steam deck charger would be my first choice.
I’m sure the chance of anything happening is so low that it’s probably insignificant, but I’d rather not take the chance, down votes be damned.
The thing is they’re probably not wrong. Does it suck? Oh absolutely, but what I can say is that I have both gamepass and ps+, and the difference is pretty significant. PS+ has more quality titles, it may not have as many titles, but it has a more quality selection, gamepass however is very much quantity over quality. If all you play are Microsoft or EA games, then gamepass might be worth it, but I can definitely see how Sony might be struggling to compete because of how much gamepass has potentially diminished the value of console titles.
My guess is that it’s a situation of publishers not wanting to put their games on ps plus because they’ve already put them on gamepass and lost a good chunk of revenue from gamepass. Now Sony has to make up the difference because they don’t want to diminish the value of their own games and they really don’t have any other markets to prop up ps plus like Microsoft does with their cloud services.
I do worry about Sony, they really feel like Sega was in the Saturn/Dreamcast days. Struggling to keep up with competition and sticking to their tried and true business practices. The main difference though is they seem willing to embrace change unlike Sega.
Says their game is feature complete then starts talking about new features they’re adding and improving. Not sure these guys know what feature complete means.
TL;DR the developers of slay the spire created a fun free card game within 3 weeks to explore and learn the Godot game engine. You can play it here: megacrit.itch.io/dancing-duelists
I’ve been recently been thinking about Arkane Studio’s Prey which is a immersive sim, with a pretty good rogue like dlc, that probably has one of the strongest hooks of any game I’ve played. If you liked Halflife, System Shock, or Deus Ex it’s definitely worth a play....
I love the outer worlds, it has such a unique style to it, very much fallout humor in space with a little bit of arcanum thrown in for good measure. IMHO outer worlds > Starfield, when I saw that neon was just one long hallway with a few neon lights and signs, I knew what I was getting into and just stopped playing. Starfield has no identity, it’s bland, space combat is annoying at best, and it’s just an unoptimized mess. Outer worlds is unique, and when I see it I know exactly what it is, I can’t say the same for Starfield.
You know what’s really funny? CDPR only had one big AAA game release without any major problems, the Witcher 3. Thronebreaker was a small scale game based on something already made and I don’t feel that one counts.
The Witcher 1 and the Witcher 2 were bad enough at launch that they had to release an “enhanced edition” of both games to fix the problems. If you don’t believe me, then just look at the piss poor Linux “port” of the Witcher 2.
The only reason the Witcher 3 wasn’t in such a bad state was because it was delayed like 4 or 5 times and released a year and a half later then it was intended. Cyberpunk 2077 has followed the same development path as the Witcher 1 and 2, but for some stupid reason people thought CDPR was immune to bad releases.
Were you around during the Witcher 1 and 2 launches? Compared to them them Witcher 3 was a godsend. The Witcher 1 had terrible performance, bad loading times, just bad in general, the Witcher 2 had horrible performance, bad AI pathing, broken quests etc. Both had to have big overhauls.
The Witcher 3 was delayed at least twice, was originally to launch in 2014, then pushed back to February 2015, then again to may 19th 2015, 4 or 5 times is incorrect .The next-gen patches were then delayed a couple times as well. The Witcher 3 was a decent launch outside the garbage nvidia hairworks nonsense.

There’s unreal, Godot, and a couple others I can’t think of off the top of my head. They’re not as widely used because they lack the feature set of unreal and unity, but they’re out there.
I don’t like it, so many loading screens, the faction bounties are copy/paste, the space combat is awkward, neon was a huge disappointment to me being just one long corridor with neon signs, the main quest railroads you like no other Bethesda game before it and it’s just not fun to me. I’ve come to the conclusion it’s just not for me and moved back over to baldurs gate 3 and recently started another new run in the outer worlds.
I mean, my opinion is anecdotal I suppose. I have friends that like it and some that think it’s just okay. For me, I just wasn’t having fun and that’s the point of games, to have fun. I also don’t really think their whole “NASApunk” style is very good. It doesn’t feel like it has any unique style or identity. It’s honestly baffling to me how it’s gotten some 9’s and 10’s for scores. It’s easily a 7 out of 10 for me, maybe even a 6. It’s definitely not the game Bethesda sold everyone on with marketing IMO.
The loading screens are atrocious even for a Bethesda game. Walk up a ladder, loading screen, open a door, loading screen, dock with another ship, loading screen, travel to another planet in the same system, loading screen, land on a planet that’s already loaded, loading screen, exit the ship, loading screen. Maybe it’s different on PC, but I’m playing on a series S that has pretty fast read/write speeds and that’s just absurd. Pretty sure if my character could use the toilet there would be a loading screen for the bathroom.
I was watching a league stream on twitch because I thought I might try to get back into it a little, but one of the ads in the twitch chat that was sponsoring the streamer was for a league Smurf account seller. I noped the fuck out of league and uninstalled instantly. I might give dota 2 another shot now, smurfs were really killing the experience of learning and playing the game.
It’s just refreshing seeing a company publicly state smurfs aren’t tolerated. It’s always this unspoken thing that smurfs are just always there because they’re not technically against any TOS. Finally a company has the balls to float out say smurfs ruin the game for others.
If the performance is the same it’s not going to matter. Is native ideal? Yes, but if it runs perfectly on proton and at performance parity with Windows, it doesn’t matter. Proton was a massive “fuck you” to Microsoft. It removes the Windows requirement without creating any negatives.
It’s nearly the same if not better in damn near every game I’ve played…guild wars 2 for instance had a 10-20 fps increase in certain areas on my Linux install over my Windows 11 install. It happens, I know it’s hard for you to accept, but I daily drive endeavourOS and I would never go back to Windows and miss out on so many options to play my games better than I could on Windows.
I daily drive Linux every damn day and I’ve had multiple scenarios where Linux runs better than Windows. Guild wars 2, elden Ring, TF2, csgo, dota2 running vulkan. I would never go back to Windows…and it is problem free, running AMD hardware and I’ve never messed with drivers ever, and installing games is as easy as clicking install. How is that so fucking hard to accept?
I’m a self proclaimed valve fanboy, I use Linux with proton and wine-ge, and I buy games on the epic store. I try not to have purchasing biases, if the price is good on epic and it’s feature parity with other PC storefronts, I’ll buy it on epic and install with heroic launcher. I’ve only ran across a few games that don’t have feature parity with steam, the biggest being that remnant doesn’t have cloud saves on epic. However, these cases are few and far between and most of the time I’m fine buying on epic.
At the start of this console generation, Microsoft made a surprising decision. Rather than split its consoles between disc and digital-only like Sony, it actually split them between power level. The Xbox Series S was cheaper, but lacked the horsepower of the more expensive Series X. It was meant to be a bridge between...
The thing about the series s is that it’s a phenomenal 1080p game console. Anything higher than that and it’s going to struggle without some kind of upscaling technology. I bought one because I don’t have a 4k tv and it just made sense. I also have a PS5, it gets more attention but I mean come on, it’s a PlayStation and it’s a damn good one, but I can’t express how impressive it is that Microsoft packed so much power into that tiny box.
