DarkThoughts,

I'm not going to hold my breath, with how the development seemingly went.

DarkThoughts,

I lost interest when they became nothing but a shell for micro / macro transactions / "DLC". The base game is already very expensive, but no, here's some more overpriced cars and shit that you can't afford either while you chase the dream of owning a full game with a complete car park.

DarkThoughts,

Because video games aren't for recreation, they're there to make them money. Tells you all about what the fuck is wrong with the gaming industry and why so many people stick to indie titles now.

DarkThoughts,

What did you expect to happen after Diablo 4? lol

DarkThoughts,

Yeah. I personally love open world games. Obviously does not mean that every open world game is good but a good open world game can hook you for a much longer time than a linear story based game.

DarkThoughts,

:(

DarkThoughts,

They said "a lot" of player freedom, so I'd definitely expect quite a bit more than just some dialog choices or whatever. ND also kinda tried to get into more open worldy stuff through their failed multiplayer projects, so it would not surprise me if they took that into a new format.

‘Unknown 9: Awakening’ Arrives To 200 Steam Players, Poor Reviews (www.forbes.com) angielski

You can’t really gauge its Steam reviews because there are only 13(!) total so far, reflective of a game that has launched with just a few hundred players. 224, as I’m writing this article. Sub-Concord levels. Yes. Concord is a unit of measurement now....

DarkThoughts,

I had Forspoken on my wishlist for quite a while, as I wanted to form my own opinion on it. Then I tried the demo they released and removed the game shortly after. The combat and travel was so boring, clunky and badly over the top (like a Saiya-jin powering up for 30 minutes to release a wet fart), which just piled on top of the rest of its "mediocrity", which I feel is still generous. The story and characters were just not interesting, nothing really hooked me, which is odd since the trailer and idea of it sounded like it would be completely up my ally. That being said, the amount of woke ragebait posts I've seen were definitely unwarranted and clearly caused by the main protagonist.

DarkThoughts,

Looks interesting, like a 3Dish Songs of Syx.

DarkThoughts,

Nintendo had uses emulators for a long time. This really isn't anything news worthy.

DarkThoughts,

I wish Japan would stop it with the terrible German language inclusions in their media.

DarkThoughts,

Calling someone "freezing" is stupidly cringe, yes. German verbs generally make for bad and very confusing names. Stroheim is also wrong, it would be Strohheim since it is a compound word of Stroh (straw - as in the dry grass type) and Heim (home, or asylum, depending on the context). In this case here it is even Denglish, as it says "stone gate" but with one word being German - and within German, a space separating a compound word like this, is a "Deppenleerzeichen" (fool's space). And don't even get me started on Japanese trying to pronounce German words, especially vocalists in their songs... It's like little kids singing along to Japanese lyrics. It's usually not understandable by native speakers. Jäger in Japanese media is often used for Nazi-esque characters btw, like Eren in AoT

Suggestions? Games that won't make me feel alone? angielski

I need some suggestions on what to play. Single Player games only. Most of the games make me feel lonely and alone. In most of the games, the protagonist has to deal with the problems on their own, like Control, Crysis, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War (I liked the original 6 more than the new ones, even though the new ones had...

DarkThoughts,

CrossCode.
Friendship is kinda part of the story / concept in a way.

Random Screenshots of my Games #21 - Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (lemmy.world) angielski

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is an incredible game dealing with psychosis and mental trauma. It’s about a Celtic girl named Senua who is journeying to the Viking Hel to bargain with Hela for the life of her lost love. She literally carries his head in a cloth tied to her belt....

DarkThoughts,

It was annoying when it was just one person posting this meaningless shit, now I see 3 posts every day already. Imagine every single user would do the same. It's Twitter / Facebook type of postings that I just don't give a fuck about.

DarkThoughts,

I loved that they also kept the whole cassette futurism aesthetic, unlike the newer movies of the franchise. The one thing I would wish for is that the horror segments are a bit less repetitive / samey.

DarkThoughts,

Apparently everything is woke now. Engines are woke. Games are woke. Music is woke. Shows & movies are woke. Eating & drinking is woke. Breathing is woke. It's all woke. WOKE woke WOKE woke WOKE woke WOKE woke WOKE woke WOKE woke WOKE woke WOKE woke WOKE woke WOKE woke WOKE woke WOKE woke WOKE woke WOKE woke WOKE woke WOKE woke WOKE woke WOKE woke WoKe wOkE WoKe wOkE WoKe wOkE WoKe wOkE WoKe wOkE WoKe wOkE WoKe wOkE WoKe wOkE WoKe wOkE WoKe wOkE WoKe wOkE WoKe wOkE WoKe wOkE WoKe wOkE WoKe wOkE WoKe wOkE.

DarkThoughts, (edited )

Really hard to imagine that they won't milk the shit out of it.
Edit: First thing I saw checking on Reddit was a repost of a Tony Hawk photo and comments claiming the anniversary being today. Totally not marketing.

DarkThoughts,

Nah, they just see all the paid Sims 4 mods and want a cut for that.

DarkThoughts,

Paralives looks smaller scaled. InZOI I'd wait and see. Koreans are the king of macro transactions...

18+ DarkThoughts,

and you either pass your turn and let her do it to you

OR WHAT?!

This is perhaps one of the most vile games I've ever played and quickly uninstalled...

Uh-huh...
It's okay dude. No need to be ashamed.

DarkThoughts,

What I, and a lot of other folks were hoping for. Even if you don't like the BG3 campaign... With this there's the potential for pretty much anything. People could create their own "games" using BG3 as an D&D engine. Neverwinter 1 & 2 lived on for a long time because of this.

DarkThoughts,

NVN is over two decades old at this point, of course the graphics aren't great. I personally also aren't a huge fan of the semi real time combat system, as it really messes with some classes. Modding (along with computer games in general) was also nowhere near as big as it is today. But despite all that it's still alive, due to its campaign editor. I'm sure BG3 will be modded to death with this (not literally ofc).

DarkThoughts,

The main purpose of the online feature is so that other people can invade your games to gank you. For me that's the epitome of games to avoid.

DarkThoughts,

The thumbsticks look downright unusable.

DarkThoughts,

With something like a Deck you can at least swap them.
I feel for more retro oriented stuff I'd prefer some sort of gamepad attachment for phones. If that breaks or wears out at least I don't have to replace the whole device.

DarkThoughts,

The one thing I hate is that it is from Ubisoft. Going from one boycotted trash company to the next.

It genuinely upsets me that Valve spent their time and resources on another Dota variation angielski

Like for many other people, Valve single player experiences were one of my favorite of all time growing up. I considered both Half-Life and Portal to be masterpieces. It’s true they’ve always been distracted with multiplayer games as well, things like Counter-Strike or Team Fortress and I did play them for sure, because I...

DarkThoughts,

I honestly cannot fathom how people find pvp games relaxing. They're toxic as fuck and their competitive online nature makes them inherently stressful.

DarkThoughts,

I find single player enemies to be mostly easy and usually it is just a pattern logic that you have to figure out. Online games are just engagements with people who clearly take the game and what happens way too seriously, evident when you don't meet the required expectations (that goes for being bad and better than them alike). I also find pvp games way too repetitive. It's always the same matches over and over again. The same map, the same weapons, the same tactics. The randomness of the matchmaking just adds to making it more of a pointless experience. But ultimately, nothing really changes.

DarkThoughts,

When asked if he was sure that Albion couldn’t be copyrighted due to its historical context, he replied: “I don’t know if I’m honest, I don’t really know… I hope so. I mean you would think that the responsible person I should be, I would’ve spent the last six months in lawyers’ offices…”

This fucking clown...

DarkThoughts,

I'm a bit torn. On one hand it seems like a step back from the Civ 6 cartoon garbage. On the other hand the ground textures still look like blurry paint vomit. It's kinda weird because the foliage and mountains / rocks seem to be in a higher resolution and much more detailed. I guess it might be WIP and a remnant from Civ 6.
The unit sizes also seem gargantuan? I guess that part would not be as hard to fix via mods but that was already a compatibility nightmare before, especially when the mod authors quit.

So, graphically it might be a buyable Civ game again, but...
Picking a new civ or mismatching leaders makes me worry though, because that sounds awfully familiar to another game that had a similar terrible feature. The Aztecs turning into France while being led by some Japanese dude just does not feel right.

The FOMO unlocks to bait you into signing up AND buying the cartoon shit are a hard pass for me though. Selling that as a "thank you" is nothing but insolent.

DarkThoughts,

No, you got it backwards. I don't play obnoxious eye cancer games that cause me migraines and look ridiculous. When you go from Civ V with diversified & smaller units that shows basically big armies, to some World of Warcraft-esque eye bleeding mobile game like art style that shows units as a single big cartoon unit, then that's just not what I want from a game like this.

DarkThoughts,

Are you seriously claiming Civ 6 does not have a cartoon art style..?
And no, Civ V had a much better unit scale & diversity, especially with certain mods.

DarkThoughts,

I honestly could not really tell. The UI did not give me a whole lot of information there.

DarkThoughts,

The majority of coverage I heard about it were about the scandals at the studio.

DarkThoughts,

How many of those 1.5 million are from China?

DarkThoughts,

Ah, yes. The two countries of the world. China, and the US.

DarkThoughts,

Shit Americans Say. lol

DarkThoughts,

Important topic but the headline is terribly misleading.

DarkThoughts,

Actual sex scenes are incredibly rare. In most cases, which are still rare, it is implied with some cuddly scenes that fade to black. I think the most "explicit" sex scene I've seen in a regular game was in TLoU Part 2.

DarkThoughts,

I only played partially through the first and the most graphic sexual thing I remember there were the little cards you'd get, which don't require any actors.

DarkThoughts,

ME is like cuddles that fade to black, The Witcher is funny little drawn cards you get after a fade to black, San Andreas was a mod as the actual function was never part of the released game - and those animations definitely were not mo-capped, no idea wtf a fishing game has, CP2077 kinda the same as ME but a bit more raunchy I guess. But even those very non explicit examples are a tiny fraction in the grand scheme of things, even among "adult" games.

DarkThoughts,

You seriously think those animations were mo-capped? lol
It was jank even for its time. They probably just thought it was funny.

DarkThoughts,

Uh, yes, yes it is? Did you not bother reading the article?

Odd Realm 1.0 it out today! Pixel graphic colony sim. (store.steampowered.com) angielski

Dive into Odd Realm, a mystical colony sim set in a land of fantasy! Lead your settlers to construct a thriving haven, navigating unpredictable seasons, elusive bandits, unseen horrors, and fabled gods. Every choice etches your colony’s destiny, igniting a saga of adventure, peril, and triumph.

DarkThoughts,

Imo Odd Realm and Songs of Syx can very much stand on their own. DF is cool and has lots of depth, but the UI & UX still is quite lacking and "meh" at best. You also have only that one race to play as, which I guess is the name of the game but not that interesting if you don't really care much for dwarves. I'd also argue that the graphics in Odd Realm & Songs of Syx are much nicer.
