Hey, y’all! Just another random, loudmouthed, opinionated, Southern-fried nerdy American living abroad.

I’m moving off kbin to lemmy, so I won’t be posting from here (unless kbin social gets it together).

And I’m really sick of people complaining about seeing posts on topics they personally aren’t interested in, instead of just scrolling by.

Looks like neither of us has gotten what they want today.

I have serious questions for anyone who gives a game, any game, a completely perfect score, especially one that is known to have some technical issues.

Then block me. The block button is not hard to get to. Then you will never, ever have to scroll by anything I post again.

Yeah, I saw it coming and did not regret that death. I earned it, but it was completely worth it.

Seconding Jacob Geller. All his videos are amazing.

The Salt Factory is pretty good, although he does have a bit of an annoying voice. Still, he’s really funny.

For more literary theory-based interpretations, Jacob Geller. I loved his video “Judaism, Whiteness, and Wolfenstein” and “An Uncanny Reality” on Silent Hill 2 and Devotion.

Please google the “paradox of intolerance.”

Yup, back then it was “the gay agenda.”

Same shit, different day.

Really bad policies that will set even worse precedents are not a punitive measure against companies you don’t like.

It’s like when CDPR said everyone could get refunds for CP2077 without talking to the stores first, then were shocked when Sony removed it from the PlayStation Store.

stopthatgirl7,

You can just see the panic coming out of Unity.

They thought they’d be able to slip this change through and people would just pay it. They were expecting a big payday, not a storm of bad press and angry people.

It’s more, you gotta let your partners know before you announce something major. The reason Sony had to pull it was because they only allow refunds after a certain point on defective games, and they can’t sell a game they know is defective. So the only way they could do blanket refunds is if the game is labeled defective, which means they can’t sell it. Giving Sony a bit of a heads up might’ve meant they could have changed their policy, which would have been better long run for consumers.

I think it’s more the “find employment” thing, not the “piece of shit” thing. Tech companies have been doing massive layoffs recently so the market is flooded with people looking for jobs when fewer places are hiring.

The 84 isn’t from people fighting console wars, though - these are the reviewer scores, not user scores. So as more actual reviewers are finishing and writing up their impressions, the scores are dipping. The scores aren’t bad by any means, but they aren’t as good as when only a handful of reviewers that got review copies had their reviews out.

stopthatgirl7,
!deleted7120 avatar

Why are people just assuming it’s a console war thing and “jealousy,” when the article is talking about reviewer scores, not scores from random users?

Don’t give them ideas.

And seeing as how the CEO sold 2000 shares just days before this announcement, short-term profit really is all they’re in for.

The insider transaction history for Unity Software Inc shows a clear trend: over the past year, there have been 49 insider sells and no insider buys. This could be a red flag for potential investors, as it suggests that those with the most intimate knowledge of the company's operations and prospects are choosing to sell their shares

stopthatgirl7,
!deleted7120 avatar

That is amazing and I laughed so hard I had tears.

That was my first thought seeing the article, too. I’ve got my fingers crossed, because I really want to play the DLC.

I’ve been seeing similar, with people saying they would have liked Starfield more if they hadn’t played Baldur’s Gate 3 first. That’s where I feel like a fair number of the “meh” scores are coming from. It’s like people are saying it’s really good, but not mind-blowing.

It’s not about “trying to figure out which of two good games is objectively the “best”,” but more like Horizon Zero Dawn coming out right after Breath of the Wild. Horizon is a truly great game, but it suffered from coming out right after what turned out to be a definitive open-world game. It’s not about better, it’s about timing. People would have had different expectations of Starfield had it come out before BG3, just because BG3 changed some people’s expectations of things like quests and ways to do them.

And again, I’m just going by what I’ve seen in reviews and something I’ve noticed in them. I’m never going to play Starfield (nothing against it, but I physically can’t play first person games), so I can’t say one way or the other about what the quests and worlds are like.

Truth.
