Hey, y’all! Just another random, loudmouthed, opinionated, Southern-fried nerdy American living abroad.

I’m moving off kbin to lemmy, so I won’t be posting from here (unless kbin social gets it together).

These are the kinds of games I love, so it’s is a win as far as I’m concerned. Hopefully they’ll start porting their games to PC faster.

I just hope they can bring the weight down in the next version. It’s a little too heavy for me to use, and I was so sad when I realized it.

I have a genetic disorder that causes my tendons and ligaments to be weak, so I get sprains and dislocations easily. I’ve sprained a finger pushing an elevator button before, and dislocated a knee standing up and taking a step. My hands are so stupid weak I couldn’t even get a Switch, I had to get a Switch Lite. I can’t use Xbox controllers because the D-pad and left stick being switched caused me to accidentally dislocate my thumb once.

The Steam Deck is just slightly too heavy for me to hold for long, because you carry some of the weight on your middle fingers when you’re holding it. When I was trying it, a middle finger joint started to go out of place.

The ergonomics of the Steam Deck were great; so I was so upset when I felt my finger starting to give. I had only played for about 10, 15 minutes before I started having problems, and I had to tape my finger after I got home from trying it.

I’m a rare case, I know, but usually new versions of electronics tend to be slimmer and lighter, so I’m hopeful.

Yeah, but that’s not going to be very easy to do on the train, or laying down in bed, and having to carry around a controller kills a lot of the portability, which would be the whole point of a Stream Deck for me. And if I’m going to play at home, I’ve already got a gaming PC.

It had positive reviews on release because they wouldn’t give console copies to reviewers, and professional reviewers tended to have the beefy gaming rigs that could play it well.

Yeah? Even ignoring how the results of this will determine how companies try this is the future (because they WILL), this shit is like classical Greek drama, watching someone fall because of their hubris.

June lines up with the end of fiscal quarter 2, so it kind of makes sense.

They made an offer like 20 years ago and got laughed out of the room.

A lot of the planned release dates got pushed back a year or two because of covid, so add a year to each date to get closer to when things are probably going to actually come out, I reckon.

I haven’t heard about any plans for PS5 Pro, but all that leaks have said what’s coming out is more like a Slim, since it’s going to be smaller, and not have a built-in disk drive. We’ll see, tho.

Unity well and truly thought everyone would just roll over on this, and oh boy, were they wrong. They didn’t at all learn from the Wizards of the Coast debacle at the beginning of the year.

Unfortunately, they all seem to be working from the techno-feudalism playbook. It started when tech companies realized they could make more by making us rent software instead of selling it to us, and it’s spread.

Microsoft wanting to buy Valve and Nintendo should tell you just how much what they really want is a monopoly on gaming.

I feel like the person posting that in the first place was not really acting in good faith - with as highly politicized as the topic is, and with how much people genuinely care about it given the way people’s rights to just live have been so quickly taken away, posting that was basically lobbing a grenade to watch what happens. It couldn’t just be an innocuous post because by nature of what it was, it wasn’t innocuous, and there was no way to not know that. People were going to get angry and the comment section was, very predictably, both here and in the Starfield comm it was cross posted to, going to turn into a dumpster fire. It felt like, to me, that the OP had an ax to grind, and that came out in their replies to people who were upset. It was by nature an incendiary post, and got incendiary reactions.

Basically everything including and past Gortach becoming the Duke. I’m in the beginning of Act 3 and had no idea there was a Raphael fight until your comment.

Talking about plot points in the last act of the game, yes, is going to be a spoiler.

stopthatgirl7,
!deleted7120 avatar

Sorry, I conflated your comment with the reply to yours which is full of spoilers.

I still had no idea that there was a Raphael fight until you brought it up. Anything in Act 3 is pretty much a spoiler, since it only just came out on PS5 and a lot of folks won’t have gotten there yet. Just be a little more vague with the details if you don’t want to use tags. Not everyone has finished the game yet.

Former BioWare manager wishes Dragon Age had kept a 'PC-centric' and 'modding-driven' identity like Neverwinter Nights (www.pcgamer.com) angielski

"Dragon Age in the early days had its fair share of identity crises," Flynn says. "Was it going to be a tools-driven, modding-driven game like Neverwinter Nights? Was it going to be a big singleplayer RPG like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion?"...

At this point, I won’t believe Dreadwolf is actually coming out until it’s on store shelves.

I tried playing it because a friend recommended it, and I barely lasted 3 days with it. It is a complete waste of time - you don’t even play it; it plays itself. The games are a Cliff’s Notes version of the original games. I got to it telling me I had to pay to upgrade my weapons past level 30, and I was done.

I would prefer no one bought Nintendo and they kept on doing what they do. They’ve been around for over 125 and you can still buy the hanafuda playing cards they started out making, so I’m pretty sure they know what they’re doing.

stopthatgirl7,
!deleted7120 avatar

I was watching this video this morning, and he points out how these leaks show a pattern of Microsoft basically wanting to buy up all of gaming (I also liked how he called Microsoft’s whole way of think about buying Nintendo as a bit of American imperialism). Folks like their Game Pass and don’t like Nintendo not giving a damn about trends or multiplayer or whatever and just going along doing their own thing, and think it would be a great idea for Microsoft to own them, and…no. Just, no.

Alternative sources for the No Pronouns mod for Starfield (kbin.social) angielski

In light of Nexus Mods and Mod DB banning the No Pronouns mod for Starfield, I figured I would look around for alternative sources and collect them in one place for others' convenience. This seems like a good place to put them....

stopthatgirl7,
!deleted7120 avatar

Is this mod for people who are triggered because the field isn’t free form and the only choices are he/she/they? Or people who are triggered because the sheer existence of a they option is an anathema to their existence?

People triggered because of a they option in character creation. Basically, for folks like this dude.

stopthatgirl7,
!deleted7120 avatar

Ironically, one of the biggest changes from Shakespeare’s time and now concerned pronouns. We stopped using “thou/thee” as the informal 2nd person and began to only use what had been the formal 2nd person, “you,” and stopped using the verb conjugations for them.

Meanwhile, the 3rd person singular “they” has been in use since Chaucer’s time.

stopthatgirl7,
!deleted7120 avatar

My brother in Christ; I’M AN ENGLISH TEACHER.

If you don’t understand how “we lost an entire pronoun and the verb inflection that went with it” is in fact grammar, I don’t even know what to tell you.

And you, sir, are what my momma like to call “loud and wrong.”
