Celebrate National Video Game Day with "Walden, a game", the educational game from USC Game Innovation Lab + our free curriculum guide.
This exploratory narrative and open world simulation of the life of American philosopher Henry David Thoreau gives players an immersive experience of Thoreau's experiment in self-reliant living at Walden Pond. The game begins in the summer of 1845 when Thoreau moved to the Pond and built his cabin there.
Players follow in his footsteps, surviving in the woods by finding food and fuel and maintaining their shelter and clothing. At the same time, players are surrounded by the beauty of the woods and the pond, which hold a promise of a sublime life beyond these basic needs. The game follows the loose narrative of Thoreau’s first year in the woods, with each season holding its own challenges for survival and possibilities for inspiration. 1/2

@games Games to replace Total War: Warhammer 3 with?
There have been rumors/controversies about the next #totalwar Warhammer 3 DLC, while I don't personally believe them, it's true that we're reaching the lifecycle end of this franchise, I'm thinking of a contingency plan, I've played this series since 2017, and to replace with something else is going to take a while.
Still, here are some of my ideas, and I would like to hear others from the community
#Helldivers, are you missing the feeling of crushing steel beneath your feet? Try your hand at clearing bug holes! With a simple loadout you can increase your nest-clearing speed tenfold!
If you miss the thrill of being surrounded, give this a go!
#Helldivers! A new Major Order has been received from Super Earth! We have just over 24 hours to Liberate the 3 Terminid planets, Estanu, Crimsica, and Hellmire! However, the forces on Hellmire are currently impeding on the rapid spread of Liberty to Estanu and Crimsica.
Consolidate your forces, Helldivers! Remember the beginning of Phase 4!
I finally managed to launch my first nuke in Fallout 76!
It only took like 2 hours of dying and confusion because there's no clear instructions....but it was successful nonetheless!😬😅
Running out of things to do now🤣might wait until the new season drops to continue my expedition grind because apparently a new Atlantic City expedition is releasing alongside the new season...
Also, does anyone know if the daily stamps for the first expedition applies to each expedition individually or if it's for all expeditions overall? Basically if I do all 4 expeditions in 1 day, will I get 20x4 stamps?🤔
You're telling me, I found the REAL Sunny in Foundation and I can't even pet her?!?! What the FUCK, Bethesda!! Most egregious thing you've done to me!!! :kek:
If anyone plays Fallout 76 on PC and doesn't mind doing expeditions, add me so we can run some sometime. They're annoying but Bethesda apparently wants to shove them down our throats because they're the only way to get some of the best stuff in the game.
I REALLY want those Union PA plans but they mostly cost a lot of stamps...😩
Time to jump back into Appalachia! I reached level 95 yesterday.
Though, with ADHD, I constantly find myself going for the "reward based" activities like events instead of doing the story quests....I want to care about the story, but I haven't gotten much out of the quests so far in terms of rewards besides game functionality like nukes for example.😬 🤷♂️

What online multiplayer games play well over wifi/higher latency?
I'm thinking turn-based games may work okay in this respect, but which of those might you recommend besides Civ? Also what other types of games work better over wifi/higher latency than you might expect?
I know ideally you'd simply wire up your system to not have to fuss with either, but it's not always an option in some circumstances.
I just finally got into this game and I’m completely shell shocked! I had seen it recommended before but ventured into other games without giving it a fair shake. As an avid RTS fan since Dune: The battle for Arrakis on Sega genesis, I’ve been slowly feeling more and more lackluster in the genres future prospects. I was a...
That aside, I've been giving it a look again lately but haven't dove in just yet. I'm in an odd mindset atm where I don't know if I'm down to wrap my head around RTS mechanics, but I'm really impressed by the looks of the game!
Also wanna highlight that this is a great rabbit hole to go down for other open source RTS games via Zero-K, Spring Engine, OpenRA, etc.
Does Playnite have a year in review setting/feature?
Seeing some of the Steam year in review posts here & there made me wonder if Playnite has a feature like this stowed away somewhere. Another more offline app I use for music has it to where you can share an image of your most played music from the past year, so I'd think similar might be possible with Playnite.
What games would you suggest that have LAN support these days?
While PC may be one's first thought here, I'd also be really interested in any mobile games that might leverage one's local wifi network for multiplayer.
Does #lazyweb recommend any software for managing #gamepad button mappings? Mostly interested in Windows but cross-platform #foss is always nice. Would be cool to not have to reconfigure every time I set up a new PC!
I think bars should have #gaming#karaoke nights; people take turns playing whatever #videoGames they are good at on a projector for the whole bar to watch. Get a drag queen to be "Master of Controllers" describing the action and calling up new players.
Is there any love for BAR (Beyond All Reason-FOSS RTS) on Lemmy?
