Im28xwa, w Where do you guys download pirated android apps from ?

I recently stumbled upon platinmods dot com, don’t know whether it is safe though so a comment from someone who knows about this site more will be appreciated

Azurebalmunk,

It’s safe. I would stick to the approved/verified and tested mods sections of the site.

brickfrog, w Is everything slow for you?

Make sure you are fully connectable (port forwarded). To check this you will want to test your torrent client’s incoming connection port with a 3rd party port test website e.g. www.canyouseeme.org, www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/, portchecker.co, etc. Those websites should be able to successfully connect to your torrent client’s incoming connections port. If the test fails then you need to look at adding an incoming port forward in your network router’s configuration.

Also make sure DHT/PEX is enabled in your torrent client (those are enabled by default).

PS - The above is if you’re not using a VPN/Proxy (you didn’t mention using one)… definitely don’t re-configure your router configuration if you intend to use a VPN/Proxy, all port forwarding needs to happen on the VPN/Proxy server in those cases.

cyanarchy,

Any solutions for people whose VPNs do not offer port forwarding?

brickfrog,

It is impossible to port forward with a VPN service that does not offer port forwarding. You’d have to subscribe to a different VPN provider.

d3Xt3r, w Is everything slow for you?

Make sure you’ve enabled PEX, DHT etc, also update your tracker list using the lists here: github.com/ngosang/trackerslist

LazerDickMcCheese,

Both were already enabled, but I manually added every tracker listed to cover my bases (both DNSs and IPs). I reannounced, but the speed hasn’t improved.

laylawashere44,

Have you limited upload? The BitTorrent protocol needs some amount of upload to sustain download speeds and throttling upload can mess it up.

LazerDickMcCheese,

I did limit the upload, what’s a good setting?

laylawashere44,

There really isnt a good reason to limit upload unless you have other devices that need the upload capacity on your Internet connection. It’s best to leave it uncapped. Limiting upload doesn’t prevent ISP or Copyright holders from viewing your IP. Torrent clients will do this automatically if left un capped but you want it to be about 70-80% of your max real upload speed.

Holo, w Rip udemy courses?

I watch and record mine via Firefox and OBS. It’s a ratyer long way to do it, but it works. You just need to sit aorund for 3 or 4 of the videos and wait until the questionnaire appears. Once you’ve skipped that, you can normally walk away and leave it recording the rest of the course.

vd1n, w Pirate Netflix

Get stremio.

Psythik,

This. Stremio is exactly what you’re looking for OP. Works just like Netflix, runs on your TV. Every show/movie from every streaming platform is there.

Just make sure to install the Torrentio and Streaming Catalogs plugins to get the free content to show up. I also recommend a Real-Debrid subscription cause it it allows you to stream instantly without delay. (In fact, you can download any torrent you want instantly with Debrid.)

chimmy_chonga,

Is this possible without torrents? Like getting content from a streaming website rather than torrents?

Psythik,

Stremio uses torrents, but they’re direct downloads. Everything is stored on a separate server. It’s similar to a seed box, except no waiting cause the files were already downloaded beforehand by what’s called a “Debrid service”.

You can also use Debrid to directly download any torrent you want, not just movies and TV. I have a gigabit connection so it’s way faster than any torrent client could ever dream to achieve.

Thanks for answer

Ew, why lemmy has so many tankies

You can only pay with kyc

You don’t need to KYC for your real debrid payment

once you login to your account without it they know your ip

That’s a real bummer that always applies - that’s why you need to have a kill switch, configure your firewall and check for leaks on a regular basis. I am always connected to some VPNs

Well if you want to pay real debrid with crypto, you just select BTC as payment option, then you get redirected to coinbase.

    https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/pictrs/image/0812e06f-8dcd-410e-91e2-b5ffd8fbdce7.jpeg

Here you can select BTC, ETH or LTC, it will then generate a payment string you can transfer funds to from every wallet, no KYC required in any way.

Other than that, yes VPN is part of a good “OpSec” and will also grant you most probably the privacy need

You don’t need a coinbase wallet, its just one of the options, you can pay with any wallet. Just start a local node, fire up a wallet and send your funds

What utter bullshit is this? Why is there no private way to pay?

    https://bisq.network/

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryptocurrency_tumbler

    https://www.monero.how/how-does-monero-privacy-work

    https://kycnot.me/?type=exchange

You can even buy BTC at an centralized exchange, split it into 25 wallets, throw them into a tumbler, convert to monero, throw it in another tumbler what ever and recombine everything on a Wallet you generated yourself with a node you are hosting by yourself. Do that on a Tails live OS.

There are countless ways to get crypto anonymously. Please if you want to learn something here, I am willing to explain everything, but if you make a claim like that

It’s still bitcoin so there is still no private way to pay

Please at least try to back it up with something that atleast comes close to an argument or something. I am going out of my way here to show you reality, just because of good will. Are you aware how long it took me just to upload those damn screenshots.

Again, there are countless ways to get BTC or what ever crypto anonymous, but still look at your original claims

You can only pay with kyc so it’s not anonymous and even if you use a vpn with real debrid once you login to your account without it they know your ip so there is no way to use it anonymously.

You do need kyc. Could you explain how to pay for real debrid without kyc? Vpns are not private or anonymous anyways. You don’t think law inforcements can figure out who you are just because you use a vpn?

You do not need KYC to pay with BTC, ETH or LTC on real debrid.

Now you are telling me, you need KYC to get your hands on some crypto. Wake up. You can also buy drugs in the street, guns what ever.

You can’t pay without KYC, but thats a huge difference to your original claim.

    db2, w Recommended FLAC converter?

    ffmpeg

    Nimous,

It’s a very old tool. Is the quality decent?

    beto,
    @beto@lemmy.studio avatar

ffmpeg is written by Fabrice Bellard, who’s one of the most underrated programmers in the world (he also wrote QEMU). It’s probably the best tool out there, still actively maintained, and most commercial apps are probably using it under the hood for any kind of conversion.

    ramenbellic,

It is the engine powering most of the audio/video tools you use today.

arc, w ATTENTION: 1337X IS NO LONGER SAFE [Reposted from Reddit]

I wouldn’t trust anything from a P2P site that purports to be:

    1. A cracked game / application for desktop and mobile platforms. Maybe it’s legit but assume it is malware.
    2. A serial number generator. If you absolutely must run one of these do it from a throwaway VM, or via WINE emulation to mitigate what it might do.
    3. An encrypted archive with a README. It’s a scam designed to make people sign up to other scams to release a non-existent password.
    4. A movie / audio with an extension such as .scr, .wma, .com, .exe etc. It’s malware.

Movies, audio & books are generally safe providing they use a recognized extension - mp3, mp4, pdf, mkv, aac, flac, epub etc. Stuff that runs under emulation like console games is generally safe. I say “generally” because an exploit could still be crafted to escape a popular media player or emulator and cause actual harm to your computer.

All the ads and 3rd party scripts should be considered malicious too and should be erased with an adblocker, or even better use Tor.

So basically use some common sense and if you really want some game or app, just buy the damned thing or wait for it to go on sale.

wine is a windows api implementation, it’s specifically NOT an emulator

    arc,

Read their own FAQ. It’s not an emulator in the classic sense of emulating the OS. It is however emulating the API of Windows. I quoted the pertinent line of the FAQ elsewhere and made my point clearer

    arc,

Not sure what the thumbs down is about. It’s right there in their own FAQ.

In fact it ends by saying - “Wine is not just an emulator” is more accurate.

    nevalem,

There is a storied history in computing to use tongue in cheek self referential acronyms to denote some humor and finality in distinguishing things that purposely fill a niche in the world of competing, often pricey, commercial software and other hackable reasons.

So I bet you’re rubbing wrong those of us who remember that gnu is not unix, and more specifically wine is not an emulator. Because they really aren’t.

Silverseren, w [HN] Will Browsers Be Required by Law to Stop You from Visiting Infringing Sites?

If the reason for this is to prevent pedophilia content, then this will do nothing. People who access that sort of thing on the dark web aren't going to be affected by this whatsoever.

    JustEnoughDucks,
    @JustEnoughDucks@feddit.nl avatar

When pedophilia prevention is used as an excuse, 100% of the time it is a move to restrict peoples’ rights and/or freedoms. 100% of the time.

The US has the playbook down easy. Every single law that they want to pass that is solidly against the citizens best interests they say “oh… pedophilia!”

You can’t argue against it because they will say “oh, so you think pedophilia is good and shouldn’t be stopped?” When in reality, the biggest rings of pedophilia aren’t perpetrated by online websites but by rich businessmen, polititians, and churches. Their friends, corporate masters, and partners.

ThetaDev, w [HN] Will Browsers Be Required by Law to Stop You from Visiting Infringing Sites?
    @ThetaDev@lemmy.fmhy.net avatar

The most stupid part of this idea is that is requires a list of banned sites to be served to every user.

Even if they would use hashing to obfuscate the banned domains, you can download a list of all registered domains and just test every one of them.

So the average internet user will lose freedom while a cheese pizza enjoyer with some computer knowledge will gain a list of every banned CP site.

Nah you are good. Cheese pizza as an acronym for you know what has been around longer than pizza gate.

    acastcandream,

Just because it’s older doesn’t mean it hasn’t taken on new meaning as well though.

“LFG” means “let’s fucking go” and/or “looking for group” even within gaming circles. It’s all about who you’re talking to.

TokyoMonsterTrucker, w should you pirate an image or an nft
