Chozo, w Get in there, Helldivers 2's mechs are officially confirmed to be on the way "soon"

The mechs are cool, but I've got a feeling that their use case will be very situational. I'm more excited for the other vehicles that we should also be getting soon.

Coskii, w Nintendo launches lawsuit against the devs of the Switch emulator, Yuzu.

Regardless of how this plays out, I can confidently say that I’m done supporting that company in any way, shape, or form.

I'm blessed that I grew up with a PlayStation. Meant its really easy for me not to support Nintendo lol.

I literally know nothing about this game aside from that it was on all the Steam Deck adverts I saw.

meant2live218, w Tekken 8 has a strong start as its first month sales outpace Tekken 7

I’m glad it’s doing well! I’ve never been able to wrap my head around 3D fighters; does anyone have any specific tips for a primarily SF player to adapt to Tekken? I tried 7 and just never got far.

ampersandrew,
@ampersandrew@kbin.social avatar

I also have a hard time wrapping my head around it, but I don't think it's a 3D vs. 2D thing. I think it's a Tekken thing. In 2D games, you can generally block low and then react to overheads, and then you'll have a few universal system mechanics. In Tekken, you block high by default and react to lows. You can't crouch-block mids, but you can create a whiff punish opportunity by ducking highs or sidestepping vertical moves. Okay, those are some cool tools to use. Except some moves hit low that look mid. Some moves hit mid that look high. Some moves that look like they can be sidestepped will actually just track your movement. I desperately tried to find some rules of thumb that would help me actually play defense in this game, but the answer I kept getting was that I just had to know what those moves look like and memorize those properties for each one. That's not a skill I excel at, and it's not a hurdle I'm interested in grinding to get past, which is a bummer, because this is most I've ever understood or found a taste for Tekken.

Yeah anyone on PC should try and cross reference prices on the various 3rd party storefronts vs Steam. I use gg.deals to do this.

Sordid, w After Pricing Dragon’s Dogma 2 $70, Capcom Is Now Considering a Video Game Price Review - IGN
@Sordid@beehaw.org avatar

I’d be willing to pay that if it didn’t have Denuvo DRM. Since it does, the price I’m willing to pay is about an order of magnitude lower.

JelloBrains,
@JelloBrains@kbin.social avatar

It's worse than that, they've been going through their back catalog and adding Enigma Protector DRM to games because the company doesn't like mods saying they are no different than cheating and some are morally offensive.

Sordid,
@Sordid@beehaw.org avatar

Oh man… But morally offensive mods are the best ones! I guess I’d better back up my DDDA installer before this plague reaches it, huh?

JelloBrains,
@JelloBrains@kbin.social avatar

There's conflicting messaging on it, some on Steam claim when they implement it that mods quit working, and others claim that just isn't true... I don't know as I'm not paying what Capcom wants for some of their games, but I know that it messed up compatibility with the Steam Deck when they added it to Monster Hunters in January.

If I owned one of the games that might get it, I would look into keeping a second copy that isn't updated though. Or turn off auto-updates in Steam.

spizzat2, w Dead Island 2 is coming to Steam this April, Riptide temporarily free

Riptide, free for 2 epic days

Kory, w Subnautica 2 will be a live service game
@Kory@lemmy.ml avatar

I really loved Subnautica, didn’t like Below Zero but am still playing Subnautica from time to time. I can’t even imagine how a game with such a great setting and story can become a gaas. I can get behind co-op, but isn’t the ultimate goal in that game to get back home?

verysoft, (edited )

It's not becoming GaaS, they just meant it will receive updates like the current ones did, was a mistake in wording.

I hope it's more like Subnautica and not Below Zero too, having a silent protagonist explore a world and uncover story was far more fun than full voice acted characters. Not the mention how broken the BZ story was and how the world never made you feel uneasy like the original did.

Kory,
@Kory@lemmy.ml avatar

Oh thank you for clarifying that!

Yes I agree. Even the soundtrack wasn’t good anymore and don’t get me started about the ending :)

verysoft,

https://unknownworlds.com/subnautica/an-update-about-the-next-subnautica/ :)

I thought the soundtrack was good on it's own (I love Ben Prunty's music), but it did not fit the game.
The way the music and audio design in-general in the first game all fit together so well is what made half the experience.

And yeah...

Thanks for the link, I just came here to post it haha. I’m glad they are not intending to make it a GaaS, might give it a try after all.

Absolutely agree, also with the spoiler comment :D
