RxBrad, w Saints Row and Red Faction IPs Will 'Live On' at Plaion, Says Deep Silver
@RxBrad@lemmings.world avatar

Wonder if we’ll ever see that fixed Saints Row 2…

Pistcow, w New employee retention rate in Japan is 70%. Nintendo’s is 98.8%. Brand strength, the smaller number of new hires, and a strong employee welfare program a few reasons given

I interviewed with the Pokémon Company recently, and their benefits were the absolute #1 I’ve seen of any enterprise level company. If I get the gig I doubt I’d ever leave. I mean, these are CEO level benefit packages for mid-level (minus the goofball CEO golden parachute).

Firipu,
@Firipu@startrek.website avatar

Could you share some? I’d be interested to see how they stack up to eg Google, ms or any of the other large tech companies.

Pistcow,

$1 to $1 401k match to max IRS, no vesting period. The highest I’ve ever seen was 10% match.

$0 insurance for individual 90% covered for family.

20 days starting annual pto.

Bonus schedule.

Some other stuff.

The tech companies do back ended vesting periods to own you for 4 years.

kboy101222,

Gawd dayum those are amazing benefits. Even the cushy government job I interviewed for didn’t have benefits that good

Pistcow,

This was for a contract worker, too, that could extend or convert after 12 months.

Firipu,
@Firipu@startrek.website avatar

Decent stuff. From an EU pov, pretty standard though. Aside from the vesting period. That’s pretty sweet.

Pistcow,

F-35’s or maternity leave, you don’t get both…Yeah, lot of the EU has it right.

Urbanfox,

You can get as good as that as standard in the UK.

I get 36 days PTO, the legal minimum is 28 days. 25% bonus. Pension contribution, I pay 4%, company pays 8%. Health insurance included, but the NHS will cover most stuff.

This isn’t even a senior level position, it’s bottom level. Seniors get way more.

Potatos_are_not_friends, w The Tragic Downfall of Battlefield 2042

“tragic” downfall?

Aw poor triple-A billion dollar EA studios making a shitty cash grab and it didn’t allow their owner to buy a fifth yacht.

Somebody please go buy some microtransactions to prop these people up

JonEFive,

As someone who usually loves the Battlefield games, I get where you’re coming from. But for us, it’s disappointing that the current version of a game we enjoy is so disappointing. Tragic perhaps in terms of the game itself and its fans. The greedy suits at the top can f right off though.

priapus,

Battlefield failing leads to alternatives succeeding. Battlebit is way better than any modern Battlefield will be.

jayandp, w Volition studio (Saints row) closes

I really hope somebody saves IdolNinja’s work on SR2.

UrPartnerInCrime, w The Tragic Downfall of Battlefield 2042
@UrPartnerInCrime@sh.itjust.works avatar

Say what you want about it, and it’s definitely not the best battlefield game by far, but it’s still battlefield and I still have fun with it.

secret301,

I wish. I love battlefield and I wanted to like it so bad but I just couldn’t.

UrPartnerInCrime,
@UrPartnerInCrime@sh.itjust.works avatar

Honestly, what makes it so bad it’s unplayable?

secret301,

For me it feels like it has less destruction than 4 and the operators are just something I thought I’d like but it feels off in battlefield. None of the maps were that good either and it always felt too spread out or too many flanks to get shot from. And I’m a huge planetside 2 player so I’m used to 500+ player battles (I miss those days) and it felt everytime I died it was from somewhere that made 0 sense and was frustrating

UrPartnerInCrime,
@UrPartnerInCrime@sh.itjust.works avatar

I like being an engineer while repairing a helo and shooting unlimited controllable rockets with Liz so I like it.

freeman,

There’s definately less destruction on the maps. The super hero thing negates classes entirely. The fact that you can’t (or could t at launch) run squads or have comms in the game was crazy.

Basically all the mechanics that reinforced any semblance of team play were removed.

I guess I spent 9,99 Euro on 1 month Game Pass to realize that it’s too bad on my GTX 970 to be fun, glad there are other games I can play for the money. Still I need to see for myself, cry a bit and life will go on.

PeterPoopshit,

Fuck I hope my 1080ti can do it

Hmm I played Humankind when it first came out but was left wanting. I should probably check it out again and see what’s changed.

Wirrvogel, w Smurfing is Not Welcome in Dota, Valve bans 90k smurf accounts

90.000 seems also rather low. I guess they definitely only banned the worst ones.

sugar_in_your_tea,

Hopefully that sends the right message to the rest.

Argongas, w Starfield GPU Benchmarks and Comparison: NVIDIA vs. AMD Performance

Meanwhile, the game won't even launch for me because apparently if you don't have the most recent version of Windows, it won't recognize your graphics card. And for whatever reason absolutely refuses to update to 22H2.

Blxter, w Report: Embracer has made layoffs at Gearbox Publishing
!deleted4407 avatar

Honestly my biggest problem with embracer group is they don’t have a “real stake” in gaming or actual interest like Xbox does when they buy studios. (Please correct me if I’m wrong) but all they do is buy companies and then when they see profits go down they just lay people off.

mindbleach,

Which is better than EA somehow.

Blxter,
!deleted4407 avatar

This might be a really unpopular opinion but nowadays I feel like EA is doing and has done much better than previous. Aside from there sports games.

mindbleach,

Nowhere to go but up.

mindbleach, w Saints Row and Red Faction IPs Will 'Live On' at Plaion, Says Deep Silver

I propose a Red Faction retro spinoff. Cash in on the underused franchise and the modern boom-shoot glut by doing a voxel-based game where everything, and I mean everything, is destructible. Like if Teardown was a setpiece-heavy FPS pretending to be from the Delta Force / Outcast era. Low fidelity keeps costs down, the genre is weirdly underused for all its indie-demo examples, and if the immersive sim curse kills any sequels then they’re only back to square one.

weirdo_from_space,

A good version of original Red Faction would be great.

mindbleach,

It’s on GOG. I guess it has trouble running in Windows 10?

… why does this chicken have its dick out.

weirdo_from_space,

I mean the original Red Faction isn’t very good. I’d like to see a proper version of that game. A new entry that takes all the good ideas of the original and properly executes them.

RxBrad, w Smurfing is Not Welcome in Dota, Valve bans 90k smurf accounts
@RxBrad@lemmings.world avatar

One of the biggest reasons I stopped playing Overwatch on PlayStation a few years ago.

Smurfing is out of control there (unlimited free accounts), and most matches down where I lived in Gold were determined by which team had more Masters players on their team.

PigglyWiggly, w Starfield review controversy traces game journalism's orbital decay

Does Starfield’s narrative cast Space Britain as the evil empire and climax with you hunting down and killing King Charles, who has been kept alive as a Futurama-like head in a jar?

I’ve only got a couple hours in but if doesn’t I’m disappointed! Keep my space tea tax free!

I didn't watch the whole thing, just checked out the charts. It does not bode well for my 2080.

forgotaboutlaye,

Game still looks good on Low. I’m on a notebook 2080 and my fps is low but smooth
