This looks more like a very polished indie game then a new game in the prince of persia series. I don’t know how I feel about popular 3d franchises going back to their roots instead of making new 3d experiences. They did it with rayman too, but I didn’t grow up with 2d rayman/prince of persia so it’s not that interesting to me.
The game does look pretty good but I agree with the sentiment, nothing about this looks like Prince of Persia. It feels like they were working on a 2D metroidvania and decided to add the prince of persia name to it. I guess it does take place in a desert setting, but that’s about it.
This came too late to pump up the demand for Geno to be brought into Smash, but I’m excited none the less.
Every part of the original game was top notch. Awesome characters that fit into an expansive world with lots of side quests and engaging combat. It game had awesome music too. And this looks like a real remake not just a port.
There really got me with this one… I was soooo excited for some F-Zero news… the music… the pixel look… then a shift to HD graphics and the a announcement of a new game… oh wait this was in my head!
Instead we got a battle royale.
Don’t get me wrong, I still take it and play it… but this was really brutal. :(
I mean, the whole backstory to F-Zero X sounds an awful lot like this game; no rules, death race, massive field. It feels like this game fills a gap between X and the original
I quite literally just started the SNES original, for the first time, 3 days ago… Guess I’ll stop and wait for the Switch release. The 2D graphics are surprisingly charming, but I bet the new version will have some QoL improvements.
I want to see how the M1 version fairs on my tiny laptop. Obviously it won’t be as good as my gaming machine, but finally: a Metal title I’m interested in that can push the hardware!
