PatFussy, w Larian working on mid-game Baldur’s Gate 3 character customisation

Ive had more issues on this game than not having the right haircut… ive had scenes turn black mid dialogue, clipping through walls, weird camera angles that force my character to T-pose… the list goes on. The game is great as long as it doesnt get bugged out

Duke_Nukem_1990,

All of those sound like minor bugs at worst tbh

Artaca,

They sound minor, they look hilarious, but then your smile fades as whatever is causing the bug blocks input to try and get past it, forcing a reload. I’m LOVING this game, but out of the 20 or so hours I’ve been able to sink into it since launch, a solid 2-3 of those hours have been retracing steps or generally trying to circumvent big bugs.

(Full disclosure: I am playing exclusively on the Steam Deck which I am 99.9% certain is the reason for all of the bugs I face)

Duke_Nukem_1990,

Interesting! I haven’t encountered any such bugs on Arch Linux (I use arch btw) so maybe there is some specific deck trickery going on.

themusicman,

Not sure if the steam deck gives you this option, but I’ve found the directx version to be much more stable than Vulcan when using proton

Andy293,

That’s so strange, I am 40 hrs in and can’t remember any bugs.

The only annoying thing is the camera that sometimes doesn’t show the layer I want so see and it’s sometimes hard to navigate, but I wouldn’t count that as a bug. Also characters in my party walking over hazardous areas when following the main char is so fucking annoying. I’m like 99% sure they didn’t do that in divinity original sin 2

PatFussy,

Yeah im also about 40 hours in and ive had at least 4 or 5 force quits where ive lost about an hour of time. Ive had bugs right from the beginning. In the cutscene where you leave the ship, ive had 2 friends say their screen either just flickered or their screen froze on screen for minutes. It was funny because they were playing naked and the screen froze on their butt for a solid 2 minutes. This is only within the first 1 hour. Ive had maybe 20 or 30 occurances where the screen freezes and I have to either wait for the game to unfreeze or it goes to that force quit i mentioned earlier.

I know the teams are different but i just thought its weird that its not talked about. It cant be just my group of friends that has these issues.

RegularGoose, (edited )

Ive had more issues on this game than not having the right haircut…

Sure, but it’s not like the team responsible for fixing those bugs is likely to be the same team working on character creation. Any time any studio announces something like this, people suddenly act like division of labor isn’t a thing. If you’re running a store and new inventory needs to get unloaded off the truck, you wouldn’t shut down the checkouts and send your cashiers who don’t drive forklifts to go do it.

Nice, they’re about what I expected and are almost the exact same as Elden Ring’s requirements.

COWABUNGA!

I’ve been waiting for a release date ever since it was announced. I wish Steam would post a price before it becomes available so I can budget, but I don’t expect it to be very expensive.

Is there a price known already for this DLC?

Nextlander - giant bomb made better imo.

Same.

There’s never been a better podcast! (I fell off them at first, but I think that was because the world sucked quite a bit right around when they started, and it leaked into their podcast. They’re pretty great now.)

I stuck with Giant Bomb right up until they canned Jeff Gerstmann. Quickly after that, Giant Bomb just felt icky. That said, I couldn’t hang with Jeff’s solo gig – while he’s still a threat, he sorely needs a co-host(s).

peasinspace, (edited )

I got into GB a bit after when Gertsmann got canned because i enjoyed Grubb and his takes/personality so much. I realize when an outfit has been going for a while like they have a regime change/ almost total personnel change would feel weird af

peasinspace,

now do u say this about current GB or their more well known previous iterations? ive only been into them since their main hosts/people being Jan, Grubb, Bakalar and Ryckert. Tam and Lucy from gamespot are frequent collaborators along with Mike Minotti.

if you’re not familiar with their current crew i suggest giving em another look, they crack me up and bring a ton of personality to the table.

From what I know, nextlander is former GB people. I’ll definitely check it out, i have lots of drive/work/gaming time to consume pods

RxBrad,
@RxBrad@lemmings.world avatar

When I bailed right after JeffG left, there were personalities I liked, and some I did not.

Also, since it was a complete dice roll who’d actually be on a given podcast: some were great; some not so much.

And more often than not, their podcasts were populated by randos not even on the crew.

MomoTimeToDie, w Xbox introduces new strike system to curtail bad behavior

  • cire,

    That’s strike one!

    conciselyverbose,

    I don't see what's objectionable here. This isn't them saying they're going to start scanning every private chat you have to look for anything mildly controversial to take action against. This is saying that when you use their public-facing service and get reported for being an obnoxious douche to other users who are matched with you when trying to play their games, they have a standardized process so you know where you stand.

    nanoUFO,
    @nanoUFO@sh.itjust.works avatar

    Because you argue with someone on xbox live and they report you and you now have a strike, it’s been proven they will strike you over the smallest shit imaginable. Not having social features in X games is shit but okay but no multiplayer?

    conciselyverbose,

    They have it recorded. If they're repeatedly upholding reports through appeals, you probably deserve to be reported.

    And yes, you absolutely should lose access to multiplayer period if they're forced to ban you. The idea that just losing chat access is a suitable punishment for repeatedly being a shitbag is fucking absurd.

    nanoUFO,
    @nanoUFO@sh.itjust.works avatar

    I don’t play on xbox because I don’t support trillion dollar companies who’s founders were friendly with epstein. But I have friends who do and I’ve seen threads on reddit about the subject. I doubt they are trying very hard with the appeal system. Imagine a game banning you for being toxic and then steam banning you from all multiplayer games. Boggles the mind.

    conciselyverbose,

    Imagine a game banning you for being toxic and then steam banning you from all multiplayer games. Boggles the mind.

    If Valve had the staff and Valve was the one handling bans from games, that's exactly how it should work.

    People who aren't consistently making the experience of everyone around them worse don't routinely get banned, and a proper appeals system is more than enough. Being online doesn't mean that there aren't real people on the other end that you're harassing and treating like shit and ruining their gaming experience. "If you make an alt and go online, you lose offline access too" wouldn't be an overreach. It would just be good policy. You don't have a right to harass people with impunity.

    nanoUFO,
    @nanoUFO@sh.itjust.works avatar

    You can get banned from forums or the game itself by the gamedevs and you can get banned for breaking no rules I don’t see any advantage to such a system. People would literally get baited into arguments in games and end up getting banned because they argued with someones throwaway account or banned by a non involved third party just because they through the argument was toxic even if it wasn’t and wasn’t even directed at them. This is infinitely worse than community servers now you have another layer of useless abstraction with dubious quality removing access to all your games. If only people who harass people with impunity didn’t already get banned in games and were the only people banned in games.

    conciselyverbose, (edited )

    You're conflating two things. This isn't developers. It's Microsoft.

    If Valve was in charge of bans, a literal lifetime ban for you as a human being would be entirely justifiable and fair as a punishment for inappropriate conduct in interactions with other players.

    NewNewAccount,

    You get in a lot of arguments on XBL?

    GBU_28,

    There is no reason to argue 1:1 about a video game. Simply don’t respond / start anything.

    Deconceptualist, w where do yall go for your gaming coverage/pods?

    It’s been many years and I’ve found very few outlets that consistently resonate with me.

    In terms of review quality, I think the best one is Easy Allies (formed by folks who used to work at GameTrailers). They match video clips with a well-written script and professional narration so perfectly. You can tell they haven’t just thoroughly played the game under review, but they know its history among the genre. But IMO they focus too much on console, where I’m PC-only.

    I’m also a Linux gamer now. Gaming On Linux and Boiling Steam are good for that, but I’m open to more.

    countstex, w where do yall go for your gaming coverage/pods?

    Podcast wise: Rebel FM, though after all these years it’s more just to catch up with them than the actual talking points, but always enjoyable.

    For deep dives into specific games Cane & Rinse (full disclosure I have met and consider friends some of the guys involved).

    For Indie Games, The Sausage Factory by Chris O’Regan, which these days is hosted by Cane And Rinse is a great way to hear directly from the game devs themselves.

    djsoren19, w where do yall go for your gaming coverage/pods?

    I get all my news from Lyle Rath on Pregame Discharge. He’s told me it’s the only videogame show, so I’m surprised to hear about all these other shows.
