This is the only actually good use of LLMs I can really think of. As long as there is a good way to keep them within the bounds of the actual story it would be great for that

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

Why do you need to open a port if its listening locally?

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

But what firewall blocks that by default?

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

OP said that the port wasn’t open, unless they meant the port was already in use rather than the port was closed?

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

Maybe getting out of fixed leases?

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

What’s the difference? Is a dip not a drop?

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

Had a very similar thing. Company I worked for had their best year by a long mile in 2020. Hired like crazy and talked big about all these deals in the pipeline with massive companies. Didn’t understand why deals started to fall through once lockdown ended, scrambled to try and fix things but just made themselves look directionless.

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

And what, put them on Disney+?

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

Oh Disney has games on steam?

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

I doubt they’d pull their games off of Steam. Disney are interested in Fortnite as a content delivery platform, not in EGS

Live service is extremely appealing to investors and business people

Elden Ring is getting a free-to-play mobile version with in-app purchases (www.rockpapershotgun.com)

Action-RPG colossus Elden Ring is reportedly getting a free-to-play mobile adaptation with in-app purchases, which takes inspiration from miHoYo’s Genshin Impact. It’s being published by Tencent, who apparently acquired the licensing rights to Elden Ring back in 2022 and put a few dozen people to work on a prototype, even as...

They also laid off part of Microsoft though

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

If they make it bad enough nobody will play it and it’ll save them the embarrassment

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

All the companies that didn’t want to do layoffs at Christmas

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

Palworld could totally get away with it unless it turns out they’re using ripped models. That would be monumentally stupid

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

It’s just the “pokemon with guns” hype

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

It crashes probably 90% of the times I launch it but the few times I’ve managed to play I’ve found it to be a lot of fun

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

I don’t think this is a direct result of AI, I think that will take a lot longer to become a problem

peter,

I’m naked under the massive censor bar which is my clothing

peter,

If it’s silly to not claim them because epic bad, it’s silly to claim them because epic bad too.

Arcane was 2021 and that was amazing

Starfield design lead says players are "disconnected" from how games are actually made: "Don't fool yourself into thinking you know why it is the way it is" (www.gamesradar.com) angielski

apparently this is in response to a few threads on Reddit flaming Starfield—in general, it’s been rather interesting to see Bethesda take what i can only describe as a “try to debate Starfield to popularity” approach with the game’s skeptics in the past month or two. not entirely sure it’s a winning strategy,...

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

This is why we only ever get PR responses to anything that happens instead of actual information or explanations.

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

Aparrently it wasn’t unpaid devs, just unpaid community moderators and translators. Which is pretty common

Valve needs to step up on Anti-Cheat angielski

So yeah, I want to discuss or point out why I think Valve needs to fix Anti-Cheat issues. They have VAC but apparently its doing jackshit, be it Counter Strike 2 (any previous iterations) or something like Hunt: Showdown the prevalence of cheating players is non deniable. For me personally it has come to a point that I am not...

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

I thought they stopped doing this during half life alyx?

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

Still kind of disappointing given the success of gta V on PC

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

I don’t think Arkose is one of the ones that trains AI they literally brag about being designed to waste humans time on their website. The purpose of them over other captchas is they’re not designed to detect robots, they’re designed to make it costly to pay someone to solve them because they take so much time

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

Does it suck? The steam deck has been out for like 2 years. I’m not mad that my pre ordered steam deck is no longer the best one available.

Well, Cities: Skylines 2 is here, and it's another broken game release. angielski

I don’t really understand how people make the review threads, but we’re sitting at a 77 on OpenCritic right now. Many were worried about game performance after the recommended specs were released, but it looks like it’s even worse than we expected. It sounds like the game is mostly a solid release except for the...

Game companies get greedier, gamers want bigger and better experiences for less money, investors want higher returns, computers aren’t getting faster at the same rate and the game industry can afford to treat it’s employees like shit because there’s always going to be a constant stream of new people who want to work in it.

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

Why would it have fanfare? It’s the same thing they’ve done for every generation

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

I thought it was pretty well understood that if you modify game DLLs you get banned, why did they attempt to add this feature?

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

People have been saying that for years

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

I’ve only ever pre-ordered 2 things: Stadia and Cyberpunk 2077. I don’t pre-order anymore

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

I don’t think this is really a fuck you to archivists any more than a simple update to the game is at any other point. I do agree that it’s similar to what Blizzard did with overwatch only Valve didn’t overpromise and underdeliver

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

I believe that extension is mentioned in the OP

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

I don’t think it’s pro war propaganda any more than star wars is pro rebellion propaganda

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

I know payday 2 at least you could play it with yourself and 3 bots

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

That’s because they still think it’s a good idea, they just thought that they could get away with it

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

If there was a foolproof way of checking for a pirated copy they wouldn’t be making a game engine they’d be making DRM

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

I bet there are tons of games on steam that have stolen assets and shitty mechanics that inexperienced developers put up expecting only a few people to play

peter,
@peter@feddit.uk avatar

So sorry to hear about this being shutdown in 6 months
