Looking up those patents, the first alludes to a system where a player aims and fires an “item” toward a character in a field, and in doing so triggers combat, and then dives into extraordinary intricacies about switching between modes within this. The second is very similar, but seems more directly focused on tweaking...
Why is everyone here pretending like palworld isn’t a straight up Pokemon clone that went a bit too close with the designs? I mean the game was basically marketed as pokemon with guns. I know you guys have this new hate for Nintendo, but this isn’t even them.
If I made a game about an Italian contractor with a red hat and mustache that fights mushroom people and turtles, you guys would defend it and claim it isn’t a copyright issue lol
I was hoping this would happen with this remake. For my money, hers was the best performance of 2004. I’m a bit surprised it was her, only because I didn’t think someone deep in the voice acting world would opt for the pseudonym. So many family animated movie voice casts are populated with comedic actors known for raunchy...
Benson explained that because “the various projects that I am affiliated with in my career are family-based, children-based,” voice acting director Kris Zimmerman suggested that she go with a pseudonym.
That’s gotta be the stupidest thing I ever heard. Just about every voice actor does adult Video Games and kids movies. Nobody cares.
Also she’s been on the IMDb credits for the metal Gear games as EVA for like years
Not to continue beating a dead horse, this article is really about mainstream media’s relationship with video games, or the lack thereof. For the first time in my life, I pay for a subscription to news, because the same problems that crop up from getting news from reddit happen just as easily here in the fediverse. There are...
I go on psplus and ps store just about daily and I had never heard of this game before. What kind of shit marketing is going on here? Looks like a basic game, nothing special, and it looks like it uses a card system which I despise.
It’s odd, even games like Halo 3 back in the day. I was also a solo player and never thought I fit into a team. I’m a Leroy, I will rush in grenades flying, shotgun blasting so I prefer to play alone. But one time I joined a group and they kept inviting me and we became a unit. They liked that I would rush in the back of an enemy hiding place and flush everyone out with my grenades, shotguns and screaming. I may get killed rushing in there but I’ll take at least one down and flush out the rest for my teammates to pick off.
I skipped this game altogether. I knew that I didn’t have the patience to handle a Kojima story without the metal Gear background that I love. And i cannot stand Norman Reedus, I think he’s the ugliest, weirdest, worst actor in Hollywood so skipping this game was easy
So I just read this book on history of games called “Blood, Sweat and Pixels” and was fascinated by the chapter on The Witcher 3 and mostly how the team put in so much thought and care in every single side quest. And seems that there are a lot of moral decision to be made on each adventure. So I finally decided to give it a...
Don’t let the upgrade, potion, etc system overwhelm you. My brother gave up cause it seemed too complicated for him. If you mostly ignore it and just play for a bit, it comes naturally
Like I told my brother. Just explore, do minor quests, gather ingredients and items. Once you have enough ingredients to make a potion or oil, the menu literally tells you and you can do it in one button click.
I don’t understand. So if I make a video game and my main character is an Italian plumber who wears red and blue, jumps on mushroom people and grows when he eats a mushroom, and Nintendo sues me. Nintendo is wrong? Or are we pretending palworld isn’t “Pokemon with guns” which was literally what people were pushing it as
Anyways, it’s very very clear what game palworld took it’s creature design from. So I don’t think the lawsuit is as silly as the Nintendo haters insist
Here’s one. Your main series assassin’s Creed still has the same glitches and bugs it did 15 years ago. The last one was so much more of the same that it’s the first Ac game I put down and gave up on after an hour cause it felt like I had played it already. How bout building a new game from scratch instead of repeatedly dipping into the same garbage pile and charging premium for it, while your other titles are overflowing with micro transactions and bullshit
Whenever I see these releases I’m like “oh cool!” And end up buying it cause the nostalgia. Then I play it for an hour and get bored and never play it again.
It’s currently free on psplus so I wanna try it. I’m always iffy on those games cause just learning the mechanics can take so long and I just wanna play already
I grew up with nes and had no idea till I got older that this turtles level was so notorious. I first started playing when I was like 6 so I managed to get good even in the water level. Also managed to beat the Battletoads speeder level a bunch of times.
I don’t understand. Everyone, literally EVERYONE was calling this game pokemon with guns when it released, so why are people mad that the makers of pokemon are suing? We all saw it from the start
I think it’s an issue with Japanese game companies in general. I’ve been complaining about Capcom forever. Megaman 11 was a side scroller. I’m a massive mega man fan and I like the side scroll. But it’s 2024. Can we try something new? I would love a ratchet and Clank style, open world 3d mega man where you go to the different areas of the city and take down the bosses. Also games like monster hunter, are so janky and look 10 years out of date, and most Capcom games look outdated
But we’re not talking about a game type here. You can agree that this is a dumb lawsuit, but you have to be honest. Palworld was marketed online as pokemon with guns. It’s not just a similar style but almost identically copies the characters in Pokemon. You can make a stealth action political thriller video game, but if the main character looks just like solid Snake and is called “Viper”, you gonna get sued.
I have gone on top 100 lists and have played every top PS4 game or PS4 game above a 7 rating. But they’re done making new games for ps4. I don’t know why I got downvoted for that 🤷♂️
Why are you pretending like Minecraft is a masterpiece of storytelling and mature gaming? The game is stupid and fun and kids love it. Why does everyone want every game movie to be dark and broody?
I remember when games used to be shipped completed and without bugs that required day one patches or patches at all. Seems that shipping out games that aren’t optimized or ready to ship is so normal now that you say something like “everyone’s favorite game had bugs on launch”.
I just feel that you can’t say a machine is replacing you, when it’s doing something you’re not capable of, which is to provide infinite, responsive responses and dialogue. I’m not saying these voice actors aren’t needed or should be screwed over. Why not dialogue a character, pay the actor, and ai can generate the infinite responses. Pay the actor a premium for this.
Ai I can also see being great for NPC and enemy reactions.
I remember playing Manhunt back in the day and being intrigued by the ability to use my mic to distract enemies, and some games that let you respond by mic, and I hoped that would go somewhere but it can’t, not without Ai.
If I could take Skyrim as an example, I would love a VR game where I can walk up to an NPC and ask about the city I’m in, or where to find a place and have the NPCs say more than “good day sir” over and over. Of course I’m asking a bit much at this point, but I have seen some videos I hope are real where people test out ai NPCs
