Day 201 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I’ve been playing until I forget to post Screenshots (pxscdn.com) angielski

Today i continued through Alan Wake 2. I have started Alan’s Section. I got to the very end of Chapter 2, but ran into a bug where Alan doesn’t push a subway car door open while being chased so i stopped there....

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

Beautiful screenshots! Too bad that it’s going to take a while until it’s released outside of the Epic store (on PC).

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

I read that article. I am in no hurry, I will speculate that it will eventually come to other stores.

Are mods usually confusing as hell or am I just an idiot? angielski

I’m newish to modding games. I have been on a console my whole life and PC gaming is still relatively new to me. I’ve been modding a few games lately like Mass Effect and Baldurs Gate 3… It’s like a whole ass research assignment to figure out how to load mods. Each one different with different rules. I decided to not...

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

You’re not missing anything. Heavy modding of older games PC can be a pain in the ass.

You can usually find a somewhat coherent and structured guide that will give you a step by step process, but will still be time-consuming (and there will likely be exceptions or outdated information).

The best option is to keep mods to minimum unless you know what you are doing and it’s a game that you play on a permanent basis.

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

HOMM was incredibly popular in Eastern Europe in the late 90s. Not as popular as Quake/CS/Unreal, but still very notable.

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

I think the real world implementation of “Kingdoms of Elyria” is Kingdoms Reborn. A multiplayer 4X/city-builder hybrid (although it works just fine in single player too).

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

I am so excited for this game! I went into the original Citizen Sleeper without any prior knowledge of the game, ended up finishing it in two (pretty long) sessions.

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t think it would be possible to make a tycoon/management game with an official Stargate license. The IP holders would want returns of such a size that would be unrealistic for the tycoon/management game genre. Although Two Point Studios have seen what seems like mainstream success.

It feels like a complete bloodbath with the job situation in the gaming industry in the west.

The worst thing is none of the executives are getting fired (in a proper manner, no golden parachutes and clawbacks on any stock based compensation).

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve tried it out. It’s actually a pretty solid early-access game. Excellent atmosphere and setting.

Respect to the dev with being so open with the community.

Day 180 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I’ve been playing until I forget to post Screenshots (pxscdn.com) angielski

I finished Max Payne 2 today. I didn’t realize going into this how much Max Payne had setup for other Remedy Games, specifically Alan Wake. The in-game show Address Unknown has so much in Common with Alan Wake II such as the evil double, alternate reality New York, and the implication of a “Next Level”. it’s uncanny....

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

The original was definitely the best (haven’t played Max Payne 3 though), but I thought the sequel was solid enough.

Every 2-3 years I do a replay of both games back to back. It’s almost like a single package for me.

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

I should honestly try the 3rd one. These days I don’t really play FPSs other than replaying HL1/HL2 (and their expansions) and Max Payne 1/2 usually in back to back sessions.

I would of course play HL3 (still have to play HLA; I don’t have an index).

Agent_Karyo, (edited )
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

Would love to try both. I wouldn’t even mind HL1 in VR (HL1 is my favourite in the series, other release are exemplary as well).

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

I am not sure I want to play Ravenholm in VR. 😆

You tried HL1 in VR too?

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

This makes me really want to try both HL1 and HL2 in VR. 😜

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

I wouldn’t be so sure that SQ42 will be a guaranteed slam dunk as many SC fans seem to be speculating. That’s if it ever does get released or course.

The gameplay in the recent demo is subpar. FPS combat in particular was trash, far worse than HL1; a game released more than a quarter of a century ago. Turret gunning and the platforming parts looked decent but they are not going to carry the game. No example of player controlled space flight was shown.

The space battles looked nice in a b-movie kind of way, but I have my doubts how this will translate to fun space flight gameplay.

From SC, we know that they have a very history of even basic conceptual balance and they are horrible at iterative play testing.

Regarding the Hollywood cast, Gary Oldman sounded like he wanted to get his money and get out of there ASAP. Anderson wasn’t much better. Writing was some high school-level drivel “we must win because we must!” and lots of shouty one liners. There is a very real possibility that the whole thing will be a Wing Commander: The Movie - 30 hours of tedious custscenes. And you just know it’s going to take itself extremely seriously (think the space bulldozer scene in Wing Commander).

Looking at the UI/UX of SC, it’s not unreasonable to assume SQ42 will suffer the same sorry fate. Very flashy ironman-style UI visuals that are nigh unusable in a video game.

Let’s see what happens.

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

Current AAA titles almost certainly have comparable development costs.

If you have 1,000 FTEs with a blended per-FTE annual cost of $100 K (I would argue this could be higher in North America and Western Europe) that works out to $100 M per year of development.

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

Did that Bible game include gameplay around setting up a “church” that was actually a political donation front to promote political parties that would limit free access to healthcare for the population (under the auspices of lower taxes and “market driven solutions to healthcare”)?

Or was the gameplay lazy and uninspired?

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

I was hoping for a more simulator/tycoon game. 😀

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

I find it difficult to believe that FSR 4.0 will be exclusive to the 9,000 series.

This seems to be an early leak without the full context.

I just played a game of Rogue Regiment, a co-op stealth action boardgame. Here's how it went. (lemmy.world) angielski

A friend brought by a copy of Rogue Regiment, a game for up to four players to play in as members of the SAS during WW2. Scenarios start with the players sneaking across a map populated by NPC German soldiers and vehicles to achieve objectives. The players must remain sneaky to prolong the stealth section of the game for as long...

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

How do the dynamic elements (motorcycle patrols, arrival of reinforcements) work?

I’ve never played a “PvE” boardgame like this.

Cheers!

Really dislike the style and tone of this particular youtuber. A lot of the clips I’ve encountered with make him sound like a shill or someone whose primary audience is children.

Day 169 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I’ve been playing until I forget to post Screenshots (pixelfed.social) angielski

Today’s game is Super Mario 64. I’ve done the First and got too the second bowser level. I took this screenshot while climbing up the stairs to the first battle. There’s something i love about these stairs and the bowser levels at large....

I stopped playing consoles after my first Sega Mega Drive (most of the games I like work better on M+KB), but I’ve been meaning to try and play some N64 games in an emulator. And HD texture and quality mods would be a nice addition.

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

Tried the demo out, it’s a very stylish game and with it’s own unique take on movie production (somewhat similar to how you develop games in Mad Games Tycoon). Seemed promising, although I do wonder how well the core movie production gameplay works in the mid to late game.

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

I heard that this one does have pretty dark, sleazy motifs.

Day 163 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I’ve been playing until I forget to post Screenshots (pixelfed.social) angielski

I finished Control today. I have to say that i’m incredibly disappointed in myself for sleeping on it for so long. The game is awesome and i can’t conceive a reason why i had ever put it down. I love the amazing gameplay with all the OOP. They’re the kind of originality i love Remedy for. I started the foundation DLC today...

@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

Second screenshot looks really good.

Day 161 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I’ve been playing until I forget to post Screenshots (lemmy.world) angielski

Today’s game is Team Fortress 2. This one’s going to be a bit short, due to just not being able to get many screenshots for it. For years it’s been an annual tradition of mine to play this game on Christmas Eve. Though I’ve stopped playing it for a while, it’s fun to go and kick back in some matches and mess around,...

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

I recently tried playing TF2 after a long break (maybe 5 years) and while there is still decent number of user run servers, it’s not always easy to find a relatively full one for many maps.

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

This is a great game. They’ve managed to pull off a roguelike citybuilder; a genre combination that one would think would not work. Great visuals and atmosphere too.

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

It really is special. I initially tried it out because I liked the aesthetic and the map setup/setting; small fantasy colony surrounded by impenetrable forest in a post-apocalyptic world. I was really skeptical about the roguelike x citybuilder hybrid as I like long city-builder sessions with huge maps and elaborate city designs, but they pulled it off perfectly.

I have 100+ hours. I did stop playing after the one of the early access builds made some changes that undermined by core strategy, but that’s a personal thing. Really need to try out the DLC and start from scratch.

Agent_Karyo,
@Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world avatar

Timberborn is also really good, the water dynamics really makes the game stand out compared to other town/colony builders.

They’ve also added much needed improvements to water dynamics (aqueducts).
