This growing group of people want to believe themselves a new incarnation of Gamergate, a harassment campaign started in 2014 that targeted women speaking out against misogyny in the video games industry.

I’m so glad journalists aren’t giving them false legitimacy. There’s a user that posts gaming news to another lemmy community and they said it was a “harassment” campaign (the quotes being theirs) and… yikes

It has Papers Please vibes but with a goofy alien theme that’s friendlier for kids

The podcasts were the main thing I interacted with nowadays so I’m glad those are sticking around, but I grew up with the company and it’s sad to see it go. I hope the roost can continue but I don’t see how this doesn’t hurt the remaining talent.

My brother and I replayed a demo from a floppy over and over as kids,Doom 2016 is my favorite entry! If it had some of the combat changes from Eternal it would be a perfect game imo

Last week Snowrunner had an update that moved my truck into storage and held it hostage. After paying the extortion fee ($3) for the tire DLC I got it out, apparently one of the default rims was accidentally marked as dlc? Really weird bug.

Also I started playing Dark Souls II, which is very good but I’m also pretty bad at it

I got the urge to play the witness for the 3rd (or maybe even 4th) time again after being slightly disappointed by the Talos Principle 2, and man I cannot express enough how much I enjoy this game. It just satisfies something deep inside me every time I play it. And I know a LOT of people (probably some here) strongly dislike...

I played the Witness for… maybe 5 hours? when it came out. A friend got all the beacons and it took forever! I was amazed at how much variation this game had in its puzzles.
I should really pick it up again, maybe I’ll get my partner to try it. Is it on ps5?

Yes, though it’s mostly been my partner that has been playing! She’s gotten into a gameplay loop of gearing up, heading to the furthest teleport point, exploring until she finds the next, and coming back to re-equip and work on the base stuff. mid-30s level I think, the base is pretty neat too

Plus the general sound effects for the fast travel points and the area labels are clearly BotW inspired, it’s very blatant. I still like it though, even if it feels derivative it still works imo

We bought Palworld yesterday, probably play that most of the week. It mashes up a lot of games and has some nice QoL updates from similar games (like Ark)

Snowrunner (still)! Only a few missions left on Island Lake, then I can explore Drummond Island 🚚

I also played Pavlov VR a bit on PC to see if there were many more players from Christmas. Ran into a few new PS5 users that were fun. I hope the servers don’t die out, PC players are already a minority in the crossplay maps!
