I am playing exactly two TCGs.

One is Gwent, which is mostly competitive but with a fair ecosystem. You gain enough ressources to fastly build up a competitive deck. Since develepment will end this year you will have to learn the rules only once. you can spend money too, but you can't buy any competitive advantage with it, and players mostly do it for cosmetics.
There are single player games out there too which are sold separetely on gog.com Thronebreaker is the better one imho, while Rogue Mage tried to adapt the somewhat popular Rogue mechanics. And then there is the gwent minigame in Witcher 3 which started all this...

The other game is Skylords Reborn which is a free reimplementation of the 2006 game Battleforge. It's a Fantasy RTS with TCG mechanics. Since the developers don't have the copyright for the assets it's totally free, ressources are earned by playing, and after a while you will literally swim in BFPs. Playing is mostly PvE which can be done solo or Co-op. There is a PvP section too, but since it's player base is rahther small you may expect some waiting time for making.

I don't play a lot of TCG, but Forced Showdown halfway counts as long as you're cool with the action side of the game. One of my favorites of all time.

Also, a lot of the Yu Gi Oh games probably count since there a lot with heavy single player content.

If you haven’t played Inscryption, just ignore everything else and do that first. It’s the most innovative deckbuilding game I’ve played, but saying more would spoil it.

Ascension is a short-ish one I’ve sunk a lot of hours into. It’s sort of like dominion meets Magic. The expansions make it a lot more interesting, but the full package is pretty cheap. It was designed by an MTG pro player who was sick of exactly that.

Black book is excellent, and managers to put a compelling narrative spin on a TCG.

Monster train is a good “it’s like slay the spire, but not slay the spire” option for when you just can’t look at another shiv.

It would be a shame if they were forced to follow through with this threat. Cult of the Lamb is a great game. I'd be curious to know if this changes their plans for their next big content update, which they'd tentatively moved to late 2023 back in August.

I have played last epoch for hundreds of hours as well, and I will say I really enjoy it. It’s my go-to ARPG because the skill system feels so damn good. It isn’t the mess of nodes that PoE is, and it isn’t the very braindead level of skills that Diablo 3 had (haven’t played 4 because blizzard). Pretty much every skill has its own skill tree, and you can often make skills cast other skills or find awesome synergies and the game excels at giving you the power to make your own build and have it actually work.

Other notes, the crafting system is absolutely fantastic. You will end up crafting all the time, not just at endgame and it feels so good, and is very easy to understand without being braindead.

Most of the endgame content is great, but it just needs more and extra of it. They have a few dungeons that do different specific things, so you don’t necessarily go there to farm, you go there because you want some feature or thing that place has. It’s a really fun system.

I will say at 0.9.2 there are still some issues with multiplayer sync, so if you want to wait til 1.0 to play it with bros then understandable. What a fun game IMO though.

There were similar rumours about the Switch back when it was just NX. It was going to be above the Xbox One and below PS4 in terms of power. Maybe I'll have to eat my words without even peeling them, but this hasn't been Nintendo's strategy since the Gamecube and I doubt it's going to change now, especially after how well the Switch has sold and is still selling.

I wish developers took genre as gameplay elements and not entirely mimicing settings and tone and themes along with the gameplay. Lots of people were hoping AC6 could be a soulslike in a different setting, because no ones doing it.

I don't like soulslikes and how everything has to be a soulslike these days, but maybe I'd be more willing to try if they weren't all so bleak.

I played the game at the beginning of the year, it was OK, I'm glad I missed it at its worst. But, I don't think I will buy the DLC, maybe if it gets a significant discount for one of the Holiday Sales.

That being said, 2.0 sounds like it's going to fix the game in a lot of ways, basically making the game what it should have been from the start, I might start a new game if the reviews of the 2.0 system are really good.

1.0 is promises fulfilled, 2.0 sounds like something on a level of a new entry (or a big advertising exaggeration). We’d see.

That sounds like the smart option tbh, I am still not convinced 2.0 will address my biggest issues with the game like gear progression and inventory. Not really sold on the skill rework either, looks kinda as boring as before. Maybe I get the dlc eventually but there's no rush - it's not like they are making more dlcs for the game and need the money, and the sequel is already confirmed anyway.

I really wanted it to be great but for every high the game hit for me, it had double the amount of lows. I can't really be bothered to get hyped anymore for it.

Game developers could do it fairly straight forwardly but the demand for multidisplay functionality isnt really there. Supcom had a 2nd monitor option to render a 3d map but i cant think of any other games that do a separate function like that. Ac6 has a minimap? Fat chance getting something that cool and involved with a game you cant completely mod or make yourself though. Itd be really sick to see something like it on ac6 especially. I miss 4/4fa’s HUD.

The person does not claim that the Switch 2 runs like a PS5, just that this specific game, while on the devkit, looks like a PS5 game.

Devkits are not final hardware, and one game isn’t enough to evaluate a system.
