Keep being fooled until it becomes real.

I mean nice but honestly I’m not all that excited about it right now without seeing some actual specs besides it’ll have a LCD screen an ‘larger’ internal storage.

Notwithstanding but the switch 2 will have significant competition the steam deck and its competitors along with the fact that Microsoft and Sony are releasing their first party games on PC, Nintendo’s first party exclusives just aren’t as big of a draw for me anymore.

3rd, w Sony’s latest PS5 beta supports Dolby Atmos and up to 8TB of M.2 SSD storage

That's some great news for PS5 users, as games are getting bigger the ability of upgrading the storage up to 8TB is awesome!

Honestly, leave it on Reddit. That sub was just ASUS and Corsair in a trenchcoat. I can do without the commercials.

Sounds like a bad idea in general to play cracked/emulated games online in the first place…

CmdrShepard,

It sounds oike people aren’t getting banned for playing games, they’re getting banned for using an emulator without paying Microsoft a vig.

It was always surprising to me that they were allowing this and it seemed like a matter of time before they would come round to putting a stop to it. Ah well

batterysoup, w Switch 2 would arrive in the second half of 2024 and development kits are already out

Launching without an OLED screen would be a mistake. It's going backwards with what they achieved with the switch OLED model.

triprotic, w Xbox Is Suspending Players Caught Using Emulators

Looks like this is an issue for retail mode only, if you’re using developer mode to run emulators you shouldn’t have issues:

“Players could pay a one-time fee to get a developer mode attached to their console. From there, you could gain access to emulators. In fact, it looks like that option is still readily available. You will lose out on features made only for retail mode, which could mean going back and forth between the modes.”

CmdrShepard,

“Pay us $25 extra to use your own hardware or we’ll ban you!” ~Microsoft

triprotic,

I mean, if you want to do emulation there’s better/cheaper ways to do it than an Xbox, but at least the option is there in some form.

CmdrShepard,

I totally agree but it just reminded me of a discussion I had with someone here a couple weeks ago where they talked about the “great advancements” Microsoft has made in the console space compared to Sony and this was one of their primary arguments.

ampersandrew,
@ampersandrew@kbin.social avatar

To be fair, is there any amount of extra money you could pay on PlayStation to do the same thing?

rafoix,

Theres better but there really isn’t cheaper. An Xbox Series S is $300. That’s a controller and a very relatively good APU even if it’s artificially limited.

I have a MiSTer FPGA and it definitely cost more than $300 and it cannot emulate anything newer that PS1 or Sega Saturn.

Ah, yes, the good old you-bought-a-full-fledged-computer-but-you-don’t-actually-own-it switcheroo.

Computerchairgeneral, w Sony’s latest PS5 beta supports Dolby Atmos and up to 8TB of M.2 SSD storage

Glad to see Sony supporting bigger storage options, given how much space AAA games are taking up these days.

harpuajim, w Baldur's Gate 3 is a 122GB download and you can't preload any of it

Seems like Australia gets screwed with these types of things more than other first world nations. Even a lot of third world countries have better speeds on average than Australia. Even then though with a 50mbps connection you can just download it overnight or start it before you leave for work and you’ll be good to go.

syphe,

You guys beat us at most things, but at least we have the Bledisloe, and fibre internets

JJROKCZ, w Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox Series: Larian Studios says not this year

I guess trying to make a current game work on the lower “next gen” model is harder than anticipated based on that article earlier this week where they said getting split screen working was a challenge

WanderingPoltergeist, w Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox Series: Larian Studios says not this year
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

That's a shame as I was hoping to play Baldur's Gate 3 on my Series S sometime this year. I'll just wait for it to release on Xbox instead of getting it for PC. I've got other games to entertain myself until then.
