I've gotten back into Cyberpunk 2077; This game went from a disaster to becoming the version which should have been released! So many systems reworked, being able to ride the Metro in cinematic style, and the new story of Phantom Liberty makes this game great. It's still disappointing that the pool of romanceable characters is so small, with only one gay man in the entire line up. At least the other parts of Cyberpunk 2077 are so much stronger, like the lore about the Cyberpunk universe; talking about the game makes me want to continue my Phantom Liberty play session!

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

Personally, I am having fun with the game in its current state. The release version was so shitty, and I posted some spicy responses about Cyberpunk 2077 on release day. Shilling for corporations isn't my vibe, plus fanboys will shill for free because they have rose-tinted glasses on. They hope that all the positive press will give them more of a thing they like. I would prefer a game which is in a stable state and is content rich. Cyberpunk 2077 got there in the end, despite the stupid executives over the dev team almost sunk this game with their poor decision to release in a broken fucking state!

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

Overall, I find the full version of Cyberpunk 2077 a hell of a lot more satisfying than when it initially released in a broken state! If you are playing on Xbox Series S or X, there are occasional crashes but autosaving mostly makes it so only a few seconds to minutes is lost. As for the PC version, I cannot say what state Cyberpunk 2077 is on Steam/GOG. I agree that it's better to work on the games you have ahead in your to be played queue!

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

You certainly live up to your username. ROFL Shilling for a corporation is a move which is never in one's best interest! We should always speak honestly about games and the corpos who made said games. Cyberpunk 2077 will never be the release trailer, as game trailers have a history of being dishonest. It certainly wasn't at launch because Cyberpunk 2077 was a broken fucking mess. The dev team did try their best to make good on some of the promises, but not all of them. I do speak honestly that I do enjoy Cyberpunk 2077 in its current state, but I also acknowledge that it wasn't the game we were originally promised.

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

If they would have released this current version instead of the shitty release that we got at first...That would've been better in my opinion and I could've easily lived with a stable, fun game. We never were going to get a 1 to 1 trailer version of Cyberpunk 2077; I made peace with that after learning the misleading nature of trailers in general long ago (personally find trailers should be honest). It's close but not 100% there.

As for my enjoyment being taken away, you couldn't have if you tried! It was just a strongly worded response to my own post. You didn't do what most people would do and devolve into slurs or other demeaning statements used on those who have contrasting opinions.

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

PC seems to have gotten a better deal in that regard it seems! I do wish they would address the console issue of occasional crashes though, but I am happy you are having an smooth game experience.

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

Currently, the only way you can play V Rising Offline is by putting the Steam Client in Offline mode.

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

sigh Well, it shows they learned absolutely nothing about their misstep with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League game. J.B. Perrette and the executives meddled with this game and soiled it due to their rampant greed; if only they'd left the developers who were passionate about this project just work their magic. There are so many games in the mobile and free-to-play markets it's not likely any of WB's trash will get much traction there either.

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

An offline mode is the only way I'd consider buying and playing Nightingale; I do love survival games, but I need them to be offline adventures balanced for single-player experiences! As an introvert the last thing I want to do is encounter another person in a game.

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

@mike591 I'm excited for this game because they've built up a lot of sensible gameplay elements so early on in development. The social system seems more interesting than The Sims 4, where you could become best friends and marry someone on the same day you met them (I've done this so often, even with conflicting personality traits). It takes both time and effort to befriend the other Paras! That is what I desire from a social sim, investing time into creating the story for my character and having that time feel meaningful.

I've been enjoying Nexomon- Extinction so far, it's a sassy game that's quite fun to play! The game mechanics work as intended and there were only a few things which I questioned before an NPC provided an answer. Leveling up my Nexomon seems like a potential slog though, I've gotten used to experience sharing in Pokémon games; I must unlearn this behavior. There are cores which can act like an Exp Share, which is nice because there are two party members that don't need to hog a large chunk of experience! I've been juggling those cores around to passively level up Nexomon which were behind in levels while using stronger creatures to tank damage.

I appreciate the game's aesthetics because it reminds me of older Pokémon games, while remaining unique. The setting matches up with the desperate situation this world is currently in as there are settlements and camps throughout the land outside of their one big city. Humanity seems to be close to potential extinction. Nexomon Tamers are responsible for desperately keeping the wild Nexomon at bay so others can labor on in safer surroundings. I'm going to keep playing today and get further in! As the need to know what happens next is strong, I felt that similarly with Coromon too.

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

@EveryMuffinIsNowEncrypted Personally, I catch and evolve as many as possible as I love to collect those creatures! EXP Share did lighten some difficulty in Pokémon games but most of the battles were also under tuned which compounded the issue. There were very few difficult fights in Pokémon games collectively as a result. It's sad that the Pokémon journey felt like a joyous stroll rather than a real adventure.

Nexomon-Extinction certainly doesn't pull its punches, rewarding strategy and preparation with an earned victory every time! There are encounters that I've barely won because it's a challenge and every decision matters. Team composition and balance of types is crucial as well. Nexomon-Extinction feels like the Pokémon game that I've always wanted but was doomed to never receive because older gamers aren't the target audience.

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

@EveryMuffinIsNowEncrypted The only reason why I'm playing this game is because there are no microtransactions or any garbage associated with mobile games in the PC version. It's a typical buy once and enjoy game, I'm not a fan of the free to play model especially how many developers choose to implement it. It's scummy, manipulative generally and that's something which needs to go away in the gaming space.

Also, I just shared my love for the catching and collecting mechanics because it's a relaxing thing to do in times of stress for me. I didn't misunderstand you at all, we all enjoy games differently.

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

@EveryMuffinIsNowEncrypted Its fine, sometimes people don't understand one another initially. I'm verbose in my replies so that might have also been a cause of said misunderstanding.

Yeah, Nexomon-Extinction for its price point is surprisingly free of the garbage that plagues mobile games! It shocked me as well and I found it hard to process at first. You'll have fun with this game because it challenges those who have been starved of challenge by Pokémon games! The Nexomon designs are intriguing, I'd love to pick their brains on where their inspiration comes from.

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

@DNU I'm close to finishing the game myself, Nexomon- Extinction has been a solid adventure! I have a higher opinion of the story only because the satire really vibes well with me!

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

@DNU There are games I have fond memories of, but my memory of specific events is all but gone. I usually remember themes more than story details (especially for games I played years ago). I understand your lack of memory associated with Nexomon- Extinction.

@EveryMuffinIsNowEncrypted You're welcome!

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 - Extended Gameplay Reveal (www.youtube.com) angielski

You know how in the early 2000s, a lot of PC games got sequels on consoles, and players complained that they removed complexity from the game to make it work on consoles? This feels like that. I don't see anything here about quests, skills, character sheets, or different ways to solve problems depending on your character's...

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

All the flexibility of Bloodlines 1 is gone, it seems like we are stuck with a single character who could be from just a stingy roster of four clans. It's reported that Phyre's gender can be player chosen, I read an article about it. The writing at least seems interesting, but they only showed a small portion of the opening; The quality of the narrative and dialogue could obviously degrade as a player gets further into it. I'm honestly disappointed that The Chinese Room was even given this game to develop, they didn't seem the type to be able to pull a game of this scale off. Especially with the rich history of this iconic World of Darkness tabletop game! If anything, Larian Studios would've been a better choice. Obsidian Studios (give them an awesome budget and some additional technical help, they'd make a wonderful game too).

I'll naturally withhold full judgement or dismissive disinterest upon reading some reviews from Gaming Sites that I trust.

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

I think even the more compelling games I've played used fast travel...Not as an excuse to reduce exposure to a tedious world, but to respect a gamer's time! I prefer fast travel to hubs and allowing me to make a short journey to wherever my next objective is. No Man's Sky has my favorite system for fast travel: Teleportation Portals which you can use to create a network of fast travel spots. It makes exploring previously settled planets a lot easier but still encourages the player to explore their unique universe. It's limited, but in an elegant way which I find to be pleasing.

I can only think of one game that made travel boring: Skyrim. The main reason is that once you've experienced one random event...You've seen them all as there's no flavor to those random on the road events. Fast Travel to any point on the map was designed to hide the blandness of Skyrim.

Even Hideaki must realize that travelling the same road repeatedly will become dull because one can only pack so many random events in a game...I hope that he makes for an option to even avoid that level of tedium in the extremely late/post-game. Else his game will become the very thing he's critiquing.

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

That's why I honestly respect Nintendo execs because they will take pay cuts over laying off staff when the going is tough! They might occasionally do shitty things or make out of touch decisions but at least they care about the health of their companies. Game companies can't make good games without talent.

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

This isn't a necessity for Riot; the American Gaming Corporations are addicted to layoffs because it's a naked display of their power. If they were made to take responsibility for their bad financial decisions, CEOs and other corporate leeches would have their unnecessarily high pay cut.

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

If it's optional, I don't mind if multiplayer is being considered. However, I want them to focus fully on making a rich single-player experience (my personal preference for games) as a lot of games that just shoehorned in multiplayer were lacking in the single-player experience. My interest is always diminished by the mention of multiplayer, I will take a wait and see approach when this sequel is released and reviewed before forming a real opinion.

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

I'm more than happy about the Xbox version of Persona 3 Reloaded...It shocked me that Xbox was getting some more Atlus love! If anything, I would hope Atlus saves the effort for a successor to the Nintendo Switch, which seems to be in the hands of some dev studios (based on rumors).

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

The narrative director had little to do with the technical elements of the game; that jab should've been directed at the higher ups who forced this game to be pushed this game out the doorway too soon! I'm sure the developer team was disappointed with the broken launch of their game, but we need to be reminded that CDPR doesn't get off scot free. The hype they're trying to build needs to be cooled with reminders of their past behavior.

WanderingPoltergeist,

After reading this article, I'm excited for this big update! A good excuse to get back to doing "just cult things" in my free time.

Baldur's Gate 3 'Isn't Going to be on Game Pass', Insists Larian Boss - IGN (www.ign.com) angielski

In a new interview with IGN, Larian Studios boss Swen Vincke responded to questions about Baldur's Gate 3 being on Xbox Game Pass, explaining why the best RPG of 2023 won't be on Microsoft's subscription service anytime soon.

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

Larian Studios made a beautiful game without microtransactions, battle passes, and other BS! I think not being on GamePass is quite alright as they deserve the full asking price for this wonderful game! I am going to buy Baldur's Gate 3 for my Xbox because I love the game so much (I also want to create a Charismatic Terror character...This gives me the excuse to do just that).

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

This is the better outcome in my opinion! I'd read the heck out of this fic. 😏

WanderingPoltergeist,
@WanderingPoltergeist@kbin.social avatar

That's a shame as I was hoping to play Baldur's Gate 3 on my Series S sometime this year. I'll just wait for it to release on Xbox instead of getting it for PC. I've got other games to entertain myself until then.
