Heard it’s been getting rapid updates though so that’s always encouraging. Maybe in 3-6 months it’ll be super refined. Keen to give this one a go once I wrap up Pathfinder
I heard that inventory management and transferring items between party members is a chore, which is a shame since it's something that PF games have already solved - shared inventory space for all party members. It makes it so much more convenient and fun to use than the mess DOS games had.
I haven’t noticed it being an issue. When you loot an item you can send it to a specific character and if you want to move lots of things you can hit tab, see the whole party and drag and drop items from inventory to inventory. Maybe it gets worse later on, I’m only 20 hours in.
I’ve been playing on “console” (SteamDeck) so I know the UI is different but the issue I’ve found is that there are three different “inventory” options and two different “loot” options, and each behaves a little differently.
For example if I loot a corpse, you’re right I can send to a specific party member. However if I loot a chest, that has to go to me.
Similarly when I the character sheet inventory view I can sort by certain methods and then L3(?) to exit that menu. If I’m selling something it’s still (L3?) to open that menu, but B to exit it. Also the sorting options aren’t the same. Also switching between characters during a trade event is one button. However switching on the character sheet is three buttons. There is also a third lesser used “put in device” menu with even fewer sorting options and you can’t switch characters.
The game is excellent and you can get used to these things but I do sometimes have to spend time just sorting things.
I’m in the UK, so some of this might be UK centric:
Podcasts
Digital Foundry Weekly, Weekly podcast discussing gaming news/hardware etc (If you know DF you know what this is)
The Crate and Crowbar, PCGamerUK used to have a podcast and these guys move to this. Few friends talking about games and it’s decent (not overly technical or in depth, more just mates chatting).
IGN UK Podcast, absolutely love the personalities on this, it seems more like some mates chatting with a bit of structure (less like the IGN ethos of pushing as much out as possible).
VGC, Again a few mates chatting about games, good production values and I value their opinions.
RSS feeds
Eurogamer.net features, similar to DF, but they cover decent articles about games.
Uppercut - Features, doesn’t post often but has well thought out articles about games and they’re a joy to read.
Polygon - Feature, interesting articles about films/games. I don’t read them all just ones interesting or relevant to me.
Rock Paper Shotgun features, PC Gaming articles that explores interesting questions about newer/popular games.
IGN Feed, All the feeds above are features where it’s not just regurgitated news that spams your feed, they’re well thought out. Well IGN isn’t features, it’s just gaming news. I hardly read the artcles, just scroll the titles.
A bit related but do you like using RSS? I've never used it before because it never seemed like it was worth setting up. Do you recommend it/ is it worth it?
Pick all your favourite news/content/podcasts/youtube and set them up in an RSS app.
Then it’s all in one place, no visiting multiple apps/websites. It’s just there ready to go. You can then easily keep track of what you’ve read, haven’t read and saved.
first off, beautiful formatting! Jeff Grubb of current Giant Bomb has Andy Robinson from VGC on his morning show pretty frequently, I enjoy him. I do catch DF content and pods time to time as well.
I’ve never set up an RSS feed but might look into it, something to scroll on the can/ when i have a few mins of downtime would be nice. google’s served articles arent cutting it. Left the thing that previously filled this gap behind a few months ago.
Ah exactly the type of game we’re all waiting for, now my data can partially live on another server somewhere else instead of just the dev’s servers, revolutionairy /s
So first Blizz dangled these missions as the whole reason for OW2, then after pushing the new game they announced that “sorry, the single-player game was too hard,” and now they’re selling us the scrapped content they abandoned as a one-off?
This is my favorite generation of graphic style. It’s simple and doesn’t get in the way of the game. I swear new games will add trash and random objects in your way just because…
In new games with up to date graphics I end up losing attention on the game and start looking at all the random objects.
