I mostly came into the series at Tribes:Ascend during the beta, but had played a bit of Tribes:Vengeance with friends in the past. This video is a great summary of the mishandling of an amazing series that nothing else comes close to. There are few things more satisfying in gaming as flying at high speed across a map and hitting that blue plate special.
I was excited to see Tribes 3 until I saw it was old Hi-Rez employees running the show. I played a few of the early playtests and decided to hold off on purchasing anything until the game got into a more polished state. I don’t know if others doing the same was a contributing factor to development stopping, but by the time I started thinking about checking it out again, they had announced the cancellation of development.
I had hopes for tribes 3 but I really don’t understand the decision to make smaller maps, and scatter little bits of terrain to bump into to halt your speed. Absolutely frustrating.
Last I heard about this game was at the Game Awards a few years back. Nice to see the game development chugging along.
The gameplay in the boss fight video looks too cluttered, IMO. But there is enough time for the devs to tweak it or add options to reduce some of the on-screen elements.
I have a suspicion it’ll be a lot like EvE Online and their EvE Echoes mobile version. The mobile version is significantly watered down in size and functionality, yet is still playable. I think we’ll see something similar.
We’ll still see the core gameplay, but parts of the game might be removed or retooled. Crafting and gathering will likely be simplified, minions will be gone, jobs will have less abilities, graphics significantly reduced, and so on.
It’s doable, but don’t expect it to be the same game.
I bought a PS4 pro back in the day but am giving this one a pass.
I’m all for incremental mid-gen upgrades, but not at that price point. If it can’t be priced competitively with the prices people have been paying, then it should not be made until the hardware they want meets that price point.
Should have made it $499 and drop the base price of the PS5 to $399.
I bought the PS4 Pro as well, because it didn’t feel like a bad value. It felt like a mid gen refresh where we got some extra power for no extra cost. Sony thinks players care about the extra performance for another $200, which is ridiculous. Up until this generation, consoles got cheaper over time as they become cheaper to produce. This is the first generation (that I remember) where the cost has stayed the same/gone up.
I fully agree that at $500, this would be a no-brainer for those wanting the extra power. A $350 base console would be a good pairing.
😂 World of darkness titles tend to have godawfull names.
all their titles start with the name of the tabletop game its based on,
in this case its: “Vampire: The Masquerade”
the actual tille of the game starts at “Bloodlines”.
thanks to that naming scheme all their titles are fucked before they even start
