Kolanaki, do games w Postal 2 Redux is bringing back the controversial FPS with a full remaster
@Kolanaki@pawb.social avatar

This is the stupidest game with some of the best game design ever. It’s like a purposefully crafted B movie that is so bad it’s funny, except that it’s not even actually bad, it’s just offensive and completely off the fucking wall batty.

The movie is equally stupid, bad-but-not-bad, and it was made by Uwe fucking Boll. Literally the director’s best work.

This is a great game

caut_R, (edited ) do games w AMD updates FSR, and this time it actually looks good

Really good to see, gonna check out the HUB video too.

Sadly, no DLL swap possible to instantly reap the benefits in older, FSR2-butchered games…

Gonna be interesting to observe how many devs are gonna go back to update their games, especially on consoles.

caut_R, (edited ) do games w Diablo 4's new mount costs more than the actual game

This year‘s CK3 DLC package is also very close in price to the „base game.“ Naturally, it provides nowhere near as much content and I refuse to believe it requires nearly as much work to make either.

RunawayFixer,

Paradox DLC policy is why I don’t play Paradox games anymore.

If I were to only play 1 game ever, then the DLC system might be ok, it’s basically a subscription system. But since I’d only play a campaign every other year or so, I’m not going to fork out that much money for 1 campaign. And it’s way too annoying to play some game with obvious parts missing + in game ads, so now Paradox gets no more money from me.

Fenrisulfir,

Can you expand on this in-game ad thing? I love paradox but it’s been loooong time since I played one of theirs.

RunawayFixer,

Here’s an complaint thread (not mine) with a screenshot: old.reddit.com/…/paradox_this_is_unacceptable_in_…

I personally get more annoyed by in game presentation of features and then getting hit with a “you need to pay extra to use this”, that’s basically an ad as well and it’s constantly there in the main gameplay loop. Bye bye immersion. It’s an annoyance every time that you are confronted with it, which in most paradox games is basically all the time. It’s like buying a car and then having to pay extra to unlock the seat heating that is already installed.

I could probably work around it by not auto updating paradox games and installing mods to remove some of the ads, but for 1 campaign every 2 years that’s just not worth the hassle for me. So I simply don’t play paradox games anymore.

SpiderShoeCult,

Yeah I loved EUIV early on, but have left it alone for a while. Now, whenever I get the urge to play again (and I do), I have a look at everything that popped up in the meantime and it’s just overwhelming. Sure, I could play the snapshot I have but then the game keeps getting patched so you get stunted new mechanics that need the DLCs to function properly. I could revert to a previous patch, but what was the patch in march 2021? Do I still find it in the steam options?

And if you want to bite the bullet and just buy the whole DLC collection it’s around 100 euro for a couple of years. or something like 300 for the whole package? I do appreciate the quality that paradox churns out though.

This is why I’ve been holding off on getting victoria 3.

Draedron,

I feel Paradox DLCs are the better way of DLCs. They add good content but you absolutely can enjoy the game without them

Mang,

I buy base Paradox games just so i can mod the cracked version with all dlc through steam.

caut_R,

Care to elaborate?

Mang,

English is not my first language. So basically how it works is you buy the base game and then you can download mods on workshop. Then you download the cracked version (preferably with the latest patch.) Then you launch the game through steam and select the modlist you wanna play, then you launch the cracked version and it will have that same modlist. I tried it with CK3, HOI4 and Stellaris but i bet it’s the same with all of their games. Only thing that sucks is you can’t easily download the latest patch for cracked version, but you can stop steam updates while you finish one playthrough or something. Hope this helps if you need better explanation dm me

I mean, this is a very Captain Obvious take. The problem is; it won’t change and it’ll only get worse.

Naatan, do games w Baldur’s Gate 3 boss says gamers don’t want mass subscriptions

No one wants mass subscriptions. “Gamers” is a red herring.

When’s the last time you heard the word metaverse? Love all the companies that tried to immediately follow, assuming it was going to be a thing. They’re probably on to AI now.

PM_ME_FEET_PICS, do games w Starfield user score drops to "mostly positive" on steam

Steam has long since proven itself it be a useless metric to get any valuable statistics from.

It’s reviews have always been filled with memes, but especially now that reviews can be monetized.

Even poorly done negative reviews rake it a lot of Steam Points.

nanoUFO,
@nanoUFO@sh.itjust.works avatar

How can reviews be monetized also the overall score is what really matters and is far more trustworthy than any games reviewer. Oh you mean points, I still fail to see how that matters when a game has 10k+ reviews and some tiny portion of them are memes. There is literally nothing better in terms of reviews.

PM_ME_FEET_PICS,

Steam reviews are generally 90% memes or circle jerking.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint had mostly negative. The reviews all complain about either no achievements or the fact that the game was locked to their Ubisoft launcher first. Not real criticism of the game, especially considering most of what people complained about on release was fixed by the time it got put onto Steam.

It’s now 7 months later and it’s finally gone up to mixed with mostly positive reviews recently, despite no changes to the game.

Compare Breakpoint to Wildlands, it’s not as good previous game, all of the recent reviews are still circle jerking but posting positively.

As soon as Steam embraced the memes and shit reviews by adding a Funny button its reviews went to shit.

You do realize you are cherry picking right? The power of steam reviews it that it’s just users posting what they want and there is a score aggregate with cool tools that tell you if a game is being review bombed. There are plenty of very good reviews on steam and I use them all the time when going through my many thousands of wish listed indie games. Please don’t tell you me you think reviews done by “game journalists” getting early review copies and going to review events is better… on the whole. At least with steam reviews I know it’s people like me rating a game.

jws_shadotak, do games w Only Up, one of 2023's biggest Twitch games has been removed from Steam, due to developer's stress

The game is Only Up, which is like a 3D version of Getting Over It.

MarcomachtKuchen, do games w You can now play as a Minotaur, Kobold, and even FFXIV races in Baldur's Gate 3

Already? I thought with all the cutscenes and fully animated models, custom models for races would take way longer

EnglishMobster,

As long as there’s a shared skeleton, you can make any model work with any animation that has the same skeleton.

So all that was needed to be done was to figure out what skeleton the animations were looking for and then set up an equivalent skeleton for the modded race. Then you can just reuse the same animations the game does.

Rouxibeau,

I think he was implying full integration with relevant racial dialogs

Aganim, do games w Postal 2 Redux is bringing back the controversial FPS with a full remaster

Has it really been 20 years? Damn, I’m not ashamed to admit I don’t think I ever finished the game in that time.

Each playthrough ended in fucking around with gasoline, pissing out some innocent bystanders that happened to stray too close and taking out the rest with cat-silenced guns. Bonus points if the cat gave out and was launched straight into somebody’s face, vomit all around. Good memories playing this with my younger brother. 😁

Alterware Is the updated build of iW4x you can still download.

Works for either Steam or old iW4x builds if you still got the files laying around.
