even Fallout 76 is now a decent game so why not…

Pixelle3D,

FO76 is great now.

Arcane’s studios are no longer the same ones that brought us dishonored unfortunately and I don’t think it is gonna get better any time soon. Really hope I’m wrong there was a time where Arcane was my favorite people making games.

BananaTrifleViolin,

I think this is the real problem with the gaming industry. Development studios are treated as if they're sources of IP when in fact it's more about the people working for them.

A good dev team is the people who made the games. A team gets bought out by a big publishing giant and it seems they inevitably lose the people who made them great.

That's not to say big publsiher owned studios can't make great games but I'd argue the best games are coming from the indy studies whether that by one man bands like ConcernedApe or big independent studios like CD Projekt Red.

Also CD Projekt Red was highly motivated to fix Cyberpunk as it's a smaller studio, and pretty much their entire future business needed it to be fixed and work. They need and want to make more Cyberpunk games. Microsoft has zero motivation to fix Redfall - it was a commercial failure in a big coroportation; they will just dump it and move on but also be more averse to trying to make new IP.

It’s definitely due to the industry. Turnover is insane and it’d not the employees faults

PoetSII, do games w Redfall can be the next Cyberpunk 2077, if Microsoft wants it to be.

I mean, cyberpunk had issues at launch but at its core it was an excellently written game in a vibrant world with phenomenal NPC performances and fun combat. It was worth spending the time and effort to fix up.

Redfall has none of that, from everything I’ve seen. Sometimes you need to release and move on.

OrgunDonor,

Cyberpunk was fundamentally a good game at launch, but needed cleaning and tidying(if you ignore the last gen consoles, it was terrible and should never have come out on them). Redfall is fundamentally bad, it doesnt need a spit and polish, this needs a meteor.

The title should read "Redfall can be the next Final Fantasy XIV, if Microsoft wants it to be.", Nuke it from orbit, and release a basically new game. Except Redfall doesn't have the long standing francise name attached to it.

Can we not give developers the impression that it’s OKAY to release a pile of shit, then spend the next 2-3 years saying “No guys, look, we fixed it, this is totally worth $80 now”

I’m okay if they label it as early access, at least you know you might be getting a streaming pile of shit that may or may not improve

I don’t care if it’s true please let’s just leave it dead and not encourage this. I don’t want to buy games wondering if the studio is going to make it 100x better after I’ve already played through the plot. Like, I’m happy CDPR fixed Cyberpunk, I really am, but it should have been good day one.

@1984@lemmy.today avatar

I get so annoyed with the game. Constant stuttering and lagging.

And it’s completely wrong of them to merge the CS2 reviews into the cs go reviews and remove cs go. Not sure who thought that was a good idea.

whereBeWaldo,

Wait did they really merge the cs1 (meaning the game released in 2000) reviews or do you mean the csgo by cs1?

1984,
@1984@lemmy.today avatar

Ah sorry. They merged cs go reviews into cs 2.

And they removed cs go so it’s not possible to play it anymore. We are all forced to play cs 2 or nothing now. In my case, I can’t play since it’s so laggy so I just lost a game I paid for and had 1000 hours in.

whereBeWaldo,

Oh I see, I personally haven’t had any performance issues and think the game looks gorgeous right now but to be honest I only played CS2 for like an hour and haven’t been playing csgo since they removed Iris from the competitive matchmaking. So I am not really the best judge for the game’s quality.

Merging reviews is really dubious though, I can kinda understand it as they replaced csgo’s store page with CS2’s but adding CS2 as a seperate game and adding it to the libraries of csgo owners would’ve been the better solution imo. I guess they didn’t want to bother with making csgo inventory tab compatible with the cs2 game.

Rin,

are you on Linux? performance is absurdly bad on Linux…

HidingCat, do games w Counter-Strike 2 has a lower rating than any other Valve game, ever

Did they forget that failed CCG that Valve was trying? Pretty sure that went into Mostly Negative for a bit too.

monk,

Lol Artefact. I did forget about that

HidingCat,

Yea, I forgot the name too, that's why I didn't name it. xD

Cagi, do games w Counter-Strike 2 has a lower rating than any other Valve game, ever

I was hopping ng for something a bit more modernized, like ADS for every gun, and larger, better maps. It still feels 20 years old.

priapus,

Then it wouldn’t be CS. There’d be no point playing it instead or something like R6

Cagi,

Yes, exactly. I’ll play other games and so will many others. There are enough CS players still playing to make sustaining it worthwhile, but it won’t win over many new players when it feels extremely dated to play.

They should just have made it a public beta instead of calling it a finalized release.

Personally, I miss Practice mode with friends and bots the most. I don’t care for the people online.

ryannathans,

Last I checked there is still practice with bots, and community servers

Indicah,

Community servers don’t work yet. They haven’t released the server files.

priapus,

CS2 already has this mode

woelkchen,
@woelkchen@lemmy.world avatar

No, it doesn’t. Not with friends. They get disconnected and bot difficulty can’t be changed either. The skill command does nothing.

Thanks4Nothing, do games w Payday 2 has three times the Payday 3 players right now

We (Payday 2 Players) also racked up hours upon hours (I think I am around 1000 total) and they didn’t really give us anything for all that work. We got a underwhelming skin. A bare bones weapon, and some weapon charms …do they realize how hard it was to beat every heist on Deathwish without a hacker in the lobby? A Charm? For Real? Give me my deathwish mask back and I will play your new game

Thanks4Nothing,

Oh yeah…and voice chat. How you make a game that requires players to communicate without a voice chat option is beyond me. The pings are not enough.

Sol0WingPixy, do games w Payday 2 has three times the Payday 3 players right now

As someone who dipped their toe into Payday 2 and is beginning to swim in Payday 3, I’m not shocked. Payday 3 is missing a lot of quality of life features that Payday 2 has, and has a lot less content. Plus, Payday 2 has been around forever and Payday 3 is fundamentally different enough that a fair fraction of folks probably just won’t ever feel any need to switch.

That said, I think Payday 3 has a better skeleton that Payday 2, especially for new players like me, and I’m excited to see it grow (and become something more than the minimum shippable product) over time.

JJROKCZ,

Eventually they’ll just force everyone to switch by shutting off payday 2

Your forgetting what company this is. Yes, theyre their for the money, but they’re genuinly devoted to making their fan base happy. They would never pull something like that.

Zekas,

I wouldn’t bank on that. Sooner or later every company has a fall from grace, it’s what capitalism does.

Rampsquatch,

They are a company that exists to make a profit, they aren’t your friend.
