Capcom seems to pump out absolute bangers lately. They have multiple rock solid franchises (Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Street Fighter, Monster Hunter) and their buisness model is still, make good game, sell good game, profit from sales. They don’t shove half-assed life service attempts down you throat and most importantly they don’t fuck fans over. It says a lot when your least acclaimed game over the past 5 years is RE3 Remake with “Very Positive” Steam reviews. I’m really looking forward to RE5 Remake and Monster Hunter Wilds.
I tend to watch Clemmy Games to see what indie games are coming up. There are a lot of duds, but then you come across a diamond in the rough. Clemmy does a great job for me, releasing videos almost every day and I would recommend giving the channel a go!
Favourite is a strange term to use about companies, but in terms of how interested I would be if all I was told it was a game from X, it would likely go like this.
An actual boomer shooter would be like Space Invaders.
But at least it’s got a name I suppose so if you like them you can find them and differentiate them from all your online XP bar tutorial modern bullshit.
Maxpedition Urban Assault maybe? Maxpedition’s prepared citizen bags are interesting too, basically a jansport with bombproof fabrics.
Osprey, Deuter and similar have good bags too but aren’t custom built for carry. Looks normal because they are, and can be surprisingly durable while also being light.
Velcro is out but how about molle loops? Leaning more tacticool for the features and materials or are you looking to be more colorful and inconspicuous?
or even something hosted in person with actual demos like E3. Does anything like this exist?
The GamesCom in Germany always hosts the Indie Arena Booth, which has tons of indie devs densely packed in tiny booths, where you can play demos.
Since the pandemic, they’ve also had an online offering, where during the GamesCom, you can explore a virtual space with virtual booths, which will then also link to playable demos that you can download from Steam.
For weird/horror games I follow alpha beta gamer on YouTube, so my suggestion is finding a YouTuber focused on indie games you like. As another user wrote you can browse itch.io featured page to find some hidden gems.
