resetbypeer, do games w The EU initiative for Stop Killing Games has reached the goal of 1 million signatures!!

This should not stop, the more the merry and also to ensure to filter out anomalies. 34k have already signed pass the million

who, do games w We did it! 🥳

Almost, but not quite. A portion of those signatures will turn out to be invalid, so we have to keep going past 1 million if this thing is going to fly. Aiming for 1.4 million might be wise.

poke, do games w Unexpectedly wholesome exchange after a poor performance from me in Rematch

I’ve been loving Rematch. This kind of team game reveals that, at least to some people, positivity and learning through mistakes will make a team stronger than negativity and shouting. Most of my games have been amazing, and the angry players seldom win. I always hit left dpad early on to get the ball rolling.

Quicky,

To be fair, I’ve seen a lot less sarcastic “Good job” messages recently. Everyone fucks up at some point usually, plus the desync issues cause “mistakes” that are absolutely not the player’s fault, and people seem to be recognising that.

Auntievenim,

I feel like the gameplay itself fundamentally refuses to accept spiteful/selfish players and they filter themselves out within a few hours of playtime

You have to play the team game, even if you’re the one. You cant outplay 4 people focusing you lol as long as youre clearly trying and not spamming everyone usually gives each other grace

fmstrat,

Were you a Rocket League player by chance?

poke,

Yes, many many hours. That game is also mostly positive, but the nasty players are hard to move on from haha. I still love the game overall.

fmstrat,

Yea I just hit 2k hours. I don’t play a ton but have been playing forever and am now hearing Rematch may be a good secondary.

CrowAirbrush, do games w Unexpectedly wholesome exchange after a poor performance from me in Rematch

People get so upset over video games like i’m just trying to escape from life’s pressures for a little bit…calm down please.

I’ll just stick to single player games tho.

At the current rate (which may or may not hold and may or may not be legitimate) the initiative should beat “One of Us”, the biggest one yet with 1.9M signatures (pro-life, ultimately did nothing).

sleepmode, do games w Yep, I actually own 7,255 games on Steam. I’ve played 23% of my library. I regret nothing.

Very similar to my account.

Tanka, do games w Developer interview: my Q&A with a PC game 'repacker'

Small fun fact: Most steam games are cracked using Mr.Goldberg’s crack which is open source too. But this guy completely left the scene after throwing a tantrum in a chat for being a bigot and got banned.

Dyskolos,

A total shame. I do love to quickly “crack” my steam games. To either just play offline or keep an oder Version.

absquatulate, do games w Developer interview: my Q&A with a PC game 'repacker'

This is a great interview, thank you! It (sadly) confirms some stuff I’ve been suspecting for a while about the piracy scene: that repackers are a very rare bunch, repacking is getting more complex and liveservice/streamed games would truly be the end for piracy.

Eyck_of_denesle,

Repacking main challenge is simply the huge amount of games coming out now. Live service is really not the problem. I won’t be surprised if new genre based repackers come out. But yes repackers are rare cause it’s a huge time investment for no return in any form.

kepix, do games w Yep, I actually own 7,255 games on Steam. I’ve played 23% of my library. I regret nothing.

you are saying this like you own some kind of extraordinary awsome games only…then you show off a spongebob cartrace, and a robocop game.

collecting is a valid hobby, but stoo kidding yourself that you are buying some high artforms.

The RoboCop game is actually supposed to be quite good. I recently picked it up on sale, haven’t played it yet.

atomicpoet,

That Robocop game has an 87% positive rating, but I got it for 93.35% – for a total of C$4.63.

As for Nickelodeon Kart Racer 3, I have the previous two games and really liked them. It’s a great couch co-op game with my kid. So I got the third one for 92.4% off the original price – for a total of C$4.32.

All in all, I did pretty well for myself.

Toneswirly,

Bro that Robocop game is petty good.

RampantParanoia2365,

This dude wouldn’t buy Robocop for a dollar.

Oh no, we’re getting to the point where PS2-era visuals are considered low-poly??

atomicpoet, (edited )

This isn’t a PS2 game, it was a Win XP game – hence why this specific screenshot was taken in 1200p. There is, though, a separate version available for PSP that looks like this, and that’s way more low-poly.

That said, yeah. There’s a huge noticeable difference between today’s high res, high refresh rate graphics and the PS2.

Oh I see - I don’t know why, but I assumed this was a new game.

theskyisfalling, do games w Developer interview: my Q&A with a PC game 'repacker'

I’ve always avoided games based “journalism” (and all journalism really) as in my experience it tends to be full of over opinionated bullshit however your posts are different.

I genuinely enjoy your posts, they are well written, clear and succinct. You offer your opinion on things you genuinely enjoy but usually as a side note rather than baking it into the news or subject you are writing about and it is generally clear you are just passionate about the things you are writing about.

I guess just on Mastodon!

I tens to post there daily, and I’m trying to force myself to take a break on my regular long-form gaming news posts on Lemmy, and instead focus on my health. I have a important appointment with my specialist on the 17th so, its 50/50 odds whether I’ll make another news post here before then or not

But, again, daily on Mastodon!

And thank you so much for your kind, kind words. I feel like an imposter so often when I share these, so your words are really appreciated!

I’m so glad you liked this :)

theskyisfalling,

I realise you are having health issues from reading your other posts and you should always prioritise that!

I really have so little interest in that short form twitter esque posting that I actively reject it so if I’m being completely honest I doubt I will go there.

Don’t push yourself to post the long form posts, get better and the best of luck with your upcoming appointments. I will look forward to your return to the long form post and hopefully with accompanying info of how well you are doing physically in the future :D

You are not an imposter, you are the fediverses premier gaming journalist and I’ll fight anyone that says different xD

Have a good day!

PerfectDark,
@PerfectDark@lemmy.world avatar

Totally understandable!

I appreciate you reading through these regardless :)

Sat, do games w For people who want to play their favorite games but are unable to, what are you currently doing?

If it’s only for one game, you could probably try cloud gaming. I gave a friend of mine who wanted to play Death Stranding 2 but has no PS5 access to remote play, and it seems to be working OK. Some of the services work on phones or TVs.

Also, my condolences on selling your pc. I hope it helped your situation a bit.

darkguyman,

I have actually heard about that. Haven’t tried it but I feel like the controls for it on the phone are gonna be messy. I’ll still try it regardless.

Lfrith, do gaming w Do you prefer Performance mode or Quality mode?

I’ve always gone for performance mode. 60 fps at the minimum is what I want.

reseller_pledge609, do games w For people who want to play their favorite games but are unable to, what are you currently doing?

If emulation is an option you could play some classics on your phone if it helps.

Sorry for your situation. Hope the future looks better.

cRazi_man,
@cRazi_man@europe.pub avatar

To elaborate on this… phone emulation isn’t just for retro classics. Many phones will have enough power to emulate modern Switch games, and semi-modern games up to Wii/3DS or so. Many modern games are also portrd to phones (Dead Cells, Hollow Knight, Wild Rift, Fortnite, etc).

Sorry to hear OP is having such a hard time, but SBC gaming is another option if there’s enough of a budget for that. Retroid Pocket 4 Pro (£120 on eBay, upto Wii/3DS/manySwitch), or Retroid Pocket 5 (£190 on eBay, up to PS3 and all of Switch).

darkguyman,

Unfortunately, I have a Mali GPU so it’s highly unlikely any game will work on my phone. As for retroid pockets, I’ll see if there’s any in my area.

reseller_pledge609, do gaming w Do you prefer Performance mode or Quality mode?

I’m a performance mode type myself. The games look good enough so I want them running smooth.
