Wildlands is still a great game. It is set in 2019 Bolivia, you work to take down cartels one region at a time. It’s fun both singleplayer and co-op for up to 4 players.
Breakpoint is set on some semi-futuristic Elon Musk type fantasy technology island with drones driving and flying around. The map itself is large and varied, it seems like a South Pacific type environment. Breakpoint initially did a lot of things worse than Wildlands, such as not having AI squadmates and needing to level up your weapons. But since then the game has been updated with a lot of options to fix almost everything, and even add a lot more content. It’s a lot to get used to but ultimately still a lot of fun.
But first play Wildlands, it is fun right away, and more realistic overall.
I really wish they had put out a 60fps patch for Wildlands.
I actually like them both, honestly. They are different games, and Breakpoint by the end (when I started playing it) really wasn’t that bad. The setting was maybe just kind of un-inspired.
Overall Wildlands is probably the better game, for sure, though.
I tried both and I feel like Wildlands is better. The world is very alive and expansive, plus the movement feels better. Something feels very clunky about breakpoint’s movement. Oh, and I enjoyed Wildlands’ primary enemies quite a bit more than Breakpoint. Wildlands does a good job of letting you SEE just how depraved the Sicarios are and their effects on the world.
I’ve been playing it, through less than legal means, and honestly to me it feels like a proper sequel to super Mario world. Granted I’m still relatively early in the game, and super Mario world is my all-time favorite Mario game with 3 shortly behind it, but it feels every bit is fun as those games so far. I’m absolutely going to pick it up when it releases.
That’s good to hear. World and 3 are also my #1 and #2 Mario games (sometimes 3 is #1, sometimes World is) and if this is as good as those, I’m really looking forward to it. Never could get into the NSMB stuff, for some reason. They’re OK, but just didn’t scratch that World itch.

Really though, I’ve started playing the Demon Souls remake and the controls feel dated. As long as the controls are good and the level design is solid I think I would enjoy it.
Did you play Lords of the Fallen 2014? I did play that one and it felt much easier than the Dark souls at the time. It made me wonder if this new Lords of the Fallen 2023 would also feel, or be, easier than the current gen of souls like titles.
as a kid i played keyboard and mouse for all the games i played at the time (backyard sports franchise and other humongous games like freddi fish, putt putt etc.) then i moved to ps2 and then later 360 so now i am much more inclined to use a controller
Increasingly I find it depending mostly on what the game was built for… I was raised, if you will, on PC point and shoots, and so my preference is for mouse and keyboard. But even a lot of AAA games these days that are console ports have noticeable pointer lag and aggressive reticule gravity or other aids. I find these really frustrating since they interfere with the 1:1 sense you get with motion on a mouse, so I’ll switch to a controller instead.
Hogwarts Legacy is an example of a recent AAA release that has such heavy reticule gravity that sometimes the best strategy is to just hold an analog stick forward and not move it (e.g. in the broom races)… I hate this kind of thing but I feel like it’s something you put up with as a PC gamer due to the popularity edge the consoles have. At least it tends to be games where fast aiming isn’t a huge factor.
It depends on how big of a role precise movements play (that are controlled by mouse on KMB). And how much I gain from the analogueness of controllers. Take Death Stranding for example: Shooting is relatively few and far between and it rarely requires high precision when you shoot (most weapons are either splash damage grenade-types or fully-automatic with a generous enough amount of ammo). The trekking along to deliver packages feels much better on a controller. So DS is controller territory for me, even if it involves shooting.
Red Dead Redemption 2? Couldn’t imagine playing it half as well with a controller, because most guns have a very low rate of fire, gunfights are a lot more lethal and (thanks to the “Scroll Wheel Movement Speed” mod) I am able to casually meander at different speeds even while getting all the benefits of playing with keyboard and mouse.
