sasquash, do gaming w Anyone have a sudden loss in gaming?

Late 20s and I have the same. When I work I am often looking forward to play something after work or when I have time. But when I finally have time and want to start, I look at my library, can’t decide for something and lose interest.

You might just need to reduce choice anxiety.

Once my library got really big, I would find time to game, but then waste it on figuring how exactly I want to spend the time. End up on youtube or something and not actually get into a game at all.

The solution was to keep just a few games favorited, and forget the rest existed.

When I’m done with a game, it gets unfavorited. When I buy a new game it gets favorited.

If the list gets too short, I might do some spelunking in my library to favorite something from my backlog.

This way, each time I sit down to game, I have a very short list of stuff to start or continue that I might actually manage to pick from.

Brumefey,

I have exactly the same feeling. Work life and kids. When finally I had two hours of free time at 21pm when everyone was sleeping the other day, I spent one hour looking at my huge steam library of games that I bought on previous sales and still never played. I really wanted to spend those 2 hours on a good quality game but could not figure out which one. In the end I figured out it was not worth starting a new game for only one hour and wasted the remaining time watching useless stuff on YouTube…

Canadian_Cabinet, do games w You know what would be cool? If all those (job name) simulator games could all be joined.

A kind of similar thing has been floating around for decades now. Combining something like Farming Sim with Euro Truck Sim and with flight sim to create an all-in-one logistics simulator

Lost_My_Mind,

…omg that sounds AMAZING!!! I haven’t even played any of those games. But like, your friend playing trucking simulator, and you play farming simulator. You grow corn. He trucks it.

Maxis did something like that once in the 90s with Streets of Simcity, where you can load up a city you created and race around in it.

Glitterbomb,

Sim copter let you load your Sim city saves too! Man I forgot how much fun that was.

Let’s add powerwash simulator to the mix 🤔

Bananobanza, do games w How do I download anything from Nexus Mods?

Wait what? Nexus Mods acknowledges a security flaw that had been breached and took action to notify the community and solve the problem and you think that’s shady?

catloaf, do games w How do I download anything from Nexus Mods?

Informing your users of potential security issues is the opposite of shady.

But I just tested creating an account and it worked fine for me. Maybe check your typing for spaces or other invalid characters.

You can also contact their support directly at support@nexusmods.com, but I recommend not taking an accusatory tone with them if you do.

That’s really odd, I’ve never heard of that before and I’ve never had any issues with Nexus but yeah. It looks like Nexus does block some email domains to prevent people from making tons of throwaway or alt accounts, which is kinda shitty.

Looks like GameBanana has some mods for New Vegas, but I am not sure if you will find everything you are looking for there. The vast majority of NV mods are hosted on Nexus. You could also trudge through the smut to see if you can find what you want on Lover’s Lab… but I wouldn’t recommend it.

I know my Nexus account is registered under a Gmail account if you want to try making a throwaway Gmail. Hopefully you’re able to find what you’re looking for!

Edit: wanted to add that there are also NV mods on ModDB

When did nexus mods become shady?

je_skirata, do games w How do I download anything from Nexus Mods?

I’ve never found a Nexus Mods alternative mirror. There are other sites that host mods, you might be able to find what you’re looking for.

This was Second Life around 20 years ago.

Man, I managed to completely forget about that. My dad was really, really into that game. Like, that’s about all he did for most of 4 years and ended up leaving my mom for someone he met in game.

I guess SL wasn’t really any worse about that than any other game, plenty of people meet and get married in MMOs, but I think the raging custom-content sex parties in SL probably didn’t help matters at the time.

Wonder how that game is doing these days. Cursory web search says it’s still alive. I probably would have found it to be pretty interesting if I wasn’t so turned away from it by my family experience.

I think you just invented the Metaverse.

ladicius,

“invented”

errer,

Let’s see how the metaverse is doing now…oh…

dan1101,

Yeah but good this time. Build it from a gamers perspective.

shalafi,

Can we get The Black Sun while we’re at it?

AngryCommieKender,

Second Life.

And all of those shops are in a SimCity

cRazi_man,

That city is one of many in civilisation 6.

dan1101,

That is on only one Earthlike planet in the Elite Dangerous Milky Way galaxy.

SkyezOpen,

I hate when my card shop gets nuked.

AngryCommieKender,

Then you zoom further out to find that the Blokkats have moved into the star system next door, and are eyeing Sol hungrily.

Lost_My_Mind,

Stop! Please! I can only get SO erect!

leftytighty, do games w You know what would be cool? If all those (job name) simulator games could all be joined.

If your goal is to achieve realistic looking city streets the best way to do that isn’t an expensive online infrastructure and much more advanced simulation.

If the developers had the skills and time to do that they could more easily have more dense NPC crowds and richer local simulation.

The reason the games aren’t already like that is likely just cost, talent, and target performance, which you’d need a lot more of to execute your plan.

Please add Fishing Barents sea to your megasim please. My Sjarken needs to sell its pollock in your fish market simulator

I was playing the demo of TCG sim today and was just thinking that myself. In fact, I’m pretty sure I watched a YouTuber play a sort of life sim game where you could do just about anything but it had full 3D graphics and an isometric view. I wish I could remember the name, because from what I remember you could start a business or be a criminal, or work your way up to CEO or even mayor.

Maestro,

Maybe it's inZOI?

DrCake,

Sounds like it was Big Ambitions

Zahille7,

That was it

All these bargain bin simulators are just flipping the same template anyway so it probably wouldn’t be so hard to actually do
