Will [FBC: Firebreak] have the staying power for the long-run?

Maybe not! But that’s (probably) okay! It’s not a live service. (It doesn’t have LAN either, which is a personal gripe of mine, but they don’t seem to intend for you to play this one for very long.) Most games don’t last very long in the public consciousness, no matter how good they are. I just played some Hypercharged: Unboxed with a friend of mine, because there haven’t been much of any deathmatch shooters in years, and it was just what the doctor ordered. It’s been so long since the FPS genre was about this that Perfect Dark (the person on Lemmy) might not even remember an era where shooters were often very similar to Perfect Dark (the video game), and that sucks.

Speaking of things that suck, I hope your health situation improves. Best of luck. We’ll be here when you get back.

StargazingDog, do games w Hesitating getting a Switch 2 (1st game console in 15 years)...

Get the Switch OLED. The Switch 2 offers nothing for your family. You think they are going to care that Breath of the Wild is “only” 1080p?

For the cost of the Switch 2, you can get the OLED plus a library of games. If you haven’t already seen the OLED screen in person, it will blow you away. It makes the S2 screen look like a $200 Walmart TV from 2008

CmdrShepard49,

I have the OLED and have been mulling over getting the Switch 2 since games, to my knowledge, don’t appear to be developed for the Switch 1 any longer even though they’d probably work fine. It’s also weak as hell and regularly crashes when I try to play Minecraft with my kid, but I haven’t really bothered to look too hard at how much more performance you get out of the S2.

GiveOver, do gaming w I have a shelf of boxes that I just can't throw out...

Flatten it though, ffs

frenchfryenjoyer,
@frenchfryenjoyer@lemmings.world avatar

Or rip it up. Means there’s less space in the black (recycle) bin

jumping_redditor,

isn’t recycling blue?

Kolanaki, do gaming w I have a shelf of boxes that I just can't throw out...
@Kolanaki@pawb.social avatar

I keep the box in case I want to resell the thing. Makes it easier to transport by just packing it all back up the way it came.

Hell, I keep my Quest 3 in the box just to store it when not using it because it’s better than buying some extra stand for it and can fit in a drawer.

pinball_wizard, do games w What are your favourite single-player games without much fluff, grinding or difficulty spikes?

I haven’t seen the Lego games mentioned here. (Lego Indian Jones, Lego Batman, etc.)

They tend to be story driven, and have excellent amounts of play-testing, resulting in an enjoyable playthrough that I’ve always been able to finish.

(Except Lego Dimensions, which was developed separately, and not to the same play-testing standards.)

brygphilomena,

Lego games are great for just putting on and playing. So very little intro tutorials and learning. They just are fun.

I’m in the same boat where I don’t want anything that takes too long to get into. I don’t have the time to learn complex mechanics anymore.

Are there no doors?

Flyberius,

Not on this carriage. This is called a hard sleeper, and it is the cheapest. There are soft sleeper carriages with doors

Thought it was Hydroneer. Looks like a good game.

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

It’s fun! I believe full price is still 60$ but on discount it’s good fun with friends. I’ve suck a good amount of time into it

NotProLemmy,

fun with friends

Well, shit.

ter_maxima, do games w Day 347 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing

They kinda murdered the game for me when they made it so easy to switch servers during play and avoid ever fighting anyone…

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

I do get that. I’m not big on the PvP personally, but it is part of the game so I’ll never shame anyone for liking it. Still, it sounds like there would be better ways to handle it then just switching servers

UnrefinedChihuahua, do games w Day 347 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing

We have a crewmate who only ever gets drunk, cooks, and vomits on people. Not always in that order. But she’s a blast on comms!

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

Those are the best kinds of crewmates. Always brings a special kind of life to the crew

@killeronthecorner@lemmy.world avatar

Do you have a special game planned for the year anniversary of your posts?

MyNameIsAtticus,
@MyNameIsAtticus@lemmy.world avatar

Not especially. Some people have suggested a ‘best of’ post which I’m thinking about. I always have a certain handful of games that I’ve 100% over the course of the year which I think it might be fun to showcase my favorite screenshots from. I’ll probably draft this one ahead of time unlike the others. I might also do a normal screenshot as the “main” screenshot and then the body is the anniversary

cyclingsnake, do games w What are your favourite single-player games without much fluff, grinding or difficulty spikes?

Fahrenheit (2005)

ObtuseDoorFrame, do gaming w [Official Art] Sibling Portrait - a Plague Tale: Innocence

The ending of the sequel fucked me up for weeks. Absolutely brutal.

ijedi1234, do games w (PC) Chill farming games (non-Anime)?

Sounds like you want a factory/automation game.

I propose Satisfactory, Foundry, Desynced, or Shapez 2.

None of them involve anime, through I think the robots in Foundry and Desynced look cute. All of them involve building things, and automating the building of things.

Passerby6497,

As much as I second the rec for satisfactory, I’m not sure I’d classify it as ‘chill’ unless you’re playing on peaceful.

I’ve been looking at shapez 2 for a bit, but I’m worried the infinite resource aspect of it would cause me to get bored too quickly

ijedi1234,

On the other hand, you don’t need to worry about power in Shapez 2. The constant power crunch in Satisfactory is what made me drop it.

hactar42, do gaming w I have a shelf of boxes that I just can't throw out...

Got to keep the TV boxes in case you ever move. TV moving boxes are ridiculously expensive.
