Kolanaki, do piracy w So how fast do y'all think Starfield will get cracked when the early access goes live tonight?
!deleted6508 avatar

Lmao

It was already cracked 2 days ago when the early access for the big pre-order set went live. I’ve been playing it the whole time.

Entropy,

Yeah me too, I made this post the morning before EA went live.

Oh damn. I didn’t notice the age of the post. The app I use (liftoff) makes it pretty small.

Pheonixdown, do gaming w Should I get Monster Train or Inscryption?

Inscryption is not close to StS in gameplay style. It’s more narrative and the card gaming strategy takes a back seat, it’s also very breakable with certain strategies. Not to say it is a bad game, just it doesn’t sound like it’s what you’re looking for.

Monster Train is a solid game, you’ll get more replayability if you get the DLC later since it impacts core gameplay.

I would actually recommend you check out Griftlands, it feels closer to StS playstyle to me than Monster Train. In Monster Train it’s a lot about supporting the units with your deck, whereas StS and Griftlands are more about using your deck for the combat.

PriorProject,

My take echoes this. If one puts any stock in streamer recommendations, Baalorlord who has at various times held spire world record winstreaks, has recently cited Monster Train as his current favorite spirelike (other than spire itself), and also cited Griftlands as a playthrough a highlight.

Baalor probably doesn’t have an opinion on Inscryption as he tends to avoid things with even a slight horror theme. I enjoyed what I played of Inscryption a lot, but very little about playing it evoked the vibe of playing spire. Monster Train is quite adjacent though, the mechanics are different enough to feel fresh but it slots into the same gameplay mood for me whereas Inscryption is just a different (and still very good) thing.

Neither has the tight balance of Spire or feels quite as deep strategically to me (though in all honesty I’m probably not a strong enough player to be trusted in this regard), but both are fun.

I picked up Slay the Spire after kinda recently learning about deck building games and how much I apparently love them. Been having a bunch of fun and beat the game for the first time just recently. Now I have to do it with the other characters :3

boo_, do piracy w Is there a desktop app with similar UX to Cloudstream?
@boo_@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I have not gotten cloudstream to work, so I don’t know it’s similar, but I’ve used popcorn time and my friends use it regularly and are happy with it.

LazyCrow,

Oh that’s one I haven’t heard in a while, maybe I’ll give it a shot too, thanks!

I have not gotten cloudstream to work

For the extensions you mean?
I successfully got them from cloudstream[dot]on[dot]fleek[dot]co/repos/ it seems like that website hasn’t been taken down yet and hopefully it won’t “ever”, since, as I understand, it relies to some extent on the IPFS, though I don’t know how that works exactly

Backslash, do gaming w Weekly “What are you playing” Thread || Week of September 3rd

I recently discovered Manic Miners, a remake of 1999’s Lego Rock Raiders, and ever since I’ve been busy reliving my childhood in 1080p. Now if only someone could remake Lego Racers 1&2…

Beyond that, I found out that the Steam release of Dwarf Fortress totally passed me by last year, and so I’ve been getting back into that and I keep marveling at the lovely graphics and the mouse control. I’m happy that I can support the creators this way after years of playing the game every once in a while. Still waiting for stuff like Dwarf Therapist, but for the first time I’m playing DF without tons of add-ons and it’s actually pretty neat. I’m looking forward to all the FUN I’ll be having! :P

r1veRRR, do gaming w What games have you played due to FOMO?

Nier Automata. I really hated the replaying it part. The combat gets incredibly boring after the first two playthroughs. I also found the supposedly “deep” story to be extremely lacking, very on the nose and, like way too much japanese entertainment, bipolar when it comes to emotions.

QualifiedKitten, do piracy w Some noob questions about seedboxes

I'm definitely not an expert, but I've been using Whatbox for many years without any issues. I'm based in the US and have it set up to autocharge the same card that I use for everything else. I do not use a VPN or anything else to access Whatbox.

I have received plenty of DMCA notices from Whatbox over the years, and they just require you to delete the offending content within 24 hours or your account will be locked until you do.

In fact, I vaguely recall them increasing my storage allowance a few years ago without raising my rate, so that was pretty cool.

Tadpole7085,

Cool to hear! Do you actually need to delete the content in order to comply, or simply stop seeding?

QualifiedKitten,

I've never actually tested that out. If it's content I want long term, I simply download it to my local storage before deleting from Whatbox.

What I've found works best for me when using public trackers for new content is to set up a max seeding ratio and whatever relevant *arrs. Doing it that way means that I've usually been able to download the content and stop seeding before the swarm is discovered/monitored by those sending the notices.

hard coded Korean subs ?

Edit: looks like they are hard coded (according to a different post)

Not acting per se… but the private tracker I am on has every video from MasterClass.

There are several acting focused videos in that set.

lemming007, do piracy w So how fast do y'all think Starfield will get cracked when the early access goes live tonight?

Long time ago, already downloading it

Entropy,

Yeah I’ve been playing it all weekend, I made this post the morning before EA went live

ober, do piracy w How to install Starfield
@ober@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I use a program called unrar to unpack .rars

unrar /path/to/.rar/

Then I run the installer .exe with Wine. Once that finishes I add it as a non-steam game and select the newest version of Proton. Sometimes I’ll check protondb if the game doesn’t work right away.

teawrecks, do gaming w Should I get Monster Train or Inscryption?

I hope you’re not disappointed by Inscryption, because it’s not going to be what you expect. But it is great. Don’t look anything up before you play it.

agent_flounder, do gaming w What games have you played due to FOMO?
@agent_flounder@lemmy.one avatar

Just getting back into gaming after eons. First up was Witcher 3… still working on it but damn glad I didn’t miss out on it. It’s been everything I had hoped for.

RDR2 is next. I started it. Not sure.

Stellaris was lauded on Reddit. Excellent game.

I have been wanting to play half life 2 since I first saw it but also never played the first. Am working thru that too. It’s been awesome.

X com UFO Defense is one I played but never finished. Tried to. Fuck that game lol

wizardbeard,

Half Life 2 doesn’t truly need the first one. It adds some context and there’s some callbacks, but you can totally start with 2.

Avoiding spoilers as much as possible, in HL1 something goes wrong at a research facility. Main character fights his way through then gets “knocked out” at the end. HL2 picks up ~20 years later after an entirely new big bad took advantage of the events in HL1 and conquered the world. MC “wakes up” and is dropped right in on a train into an occupied city.

There’s decent plot connections, but you aren’t missing out on anything gameplay wise or largely plot impacting, as the game world has changed so drastically.

All that said, if you want to play HL1 and aren’t interested in it in terms of it as a tech marvel of the time it was created, you can just play Black Mesa. It’s a fan remake that got the greenlight from the original creators to be sold, and by most accounts is a better experience for modern gamers.

Trying to beat Spider-Man before Spider-Man 2 comes out next month. Also finally got around to Stardew Valley. I need to finish off Horizon Zero Dawn. Too many games, not enough time, the exact opposite of my childhood lol!
