I like these games. I do. But at the same time I don’t. They’re repetitive in the gameplay and it gets stale to the point where I never finish them.
Along with the Assassins Creed series, they have sucked me in and don’t deliver enough to maintain my business, yet a couple of months after a release when I see them go on sale the end up in my collection.
I’m hoping this news will end in an awesome game that I’m obviously going to buy and that I will actually finish, for once
Agree. I’m playing Far Cry 6 and somehow got the feeling it’s even slightly worse (more stupid) than the 5th entry.
The map is filled to the brim with NPCs and animals, yet I’ve rarely witnessed such a dead world. Not a single NPC has a purpose or life. Cars outside the render distance disappear from the game too: turn around and that vehicle is gone like in those 1980’s video games. Turn around again: new NPC.
Finished a checkpoint / road block: your car is gone Baddies reappear in enemy areas although I just cleared it out. Such a lack of persistence is almost an offense.
Not one car that doesn’t sound their horn at me because they think I’m trying to ram them off the road. Arcade games from decades ago were less dumb.
Ubi really need to scale down the size of these games and adopt a quality over quantity mindset. I’ve played multiple Ubi IPs and they’re the fucking same at its core.
I will say I am glad to see that the current Atari CEO is actually trying to do stuff with the brand again. It seemed like it was really dead for a long time. But it’s refreshing to see Atari celebrate it’s long and bumpy history. As well as trying to do new things in the modern gaming environment. I hope they can find some real success. It would be neat to see Atari actually become a big player again.
As a cautionary tale, I said the same things about Embracer acquiring unused properties and underutilized studios in an attempt to revive more niche series for underserved segments of the market.
Fair enough, but it’s really just a hope. I certainly don’t have confidence that it won’t turn to shit. But the gaming landscape could use some shakeup with some new/old players.
I was going to say the same thing. I noticed it with the new Busby game, I hope they find a lot of success are are able to bring that retro game design back to the forefront.
It blew my mind how quick video games media moves on from abuse scandals. Like the major video media orgs are staffed to the brim with leftist, hyper Twitter finger social justice types but they didn’t lay down continuous pressure on Ubisoft, Quantic Dream, Activision Blizzard. It was report then back to cordial relationship with these companies where pretty much no one faced punishment. At the very least constantly work to destroy their public images until they resign and divest
It’s not just the media companies even the studios are full of leftists/progressives. Like Blizzard should have a fucking hard time to find workers. But nope. The blue hairs still line up to apply or never left. Remember the loudest progressives are just virtue signaling. And they just appropriated punk esthetics but never embraced the punk ethos.
Seems to be a consistent pattern across all types of media, I mean look at all the allegations against people in Hollywood, that came out during the me to movement, and still Roman Polanski gets a standing ovation, more and more it feels to me that most people don’t give a shit about anything other than their self interest in this world.
Theoretically you’re not supposed to take about a case because you could mispeak and it could be used against you. In a simple string case it’s not really a threat
But they production cost has gone way down with digital releases, no more shipping and inventory in many cases. Can reach way wider audiences with just internet. Plus all the kids that grew up gaming in the 90s now have money.
They made $2 billion in profits in 2023 in their gaming division. Sony can suck my tiny little dick dick, and I’ll even dip my nuts in soy sauce just so they can get a taste of home while they’re at it.
What do you mean? Our generous corporate overlords have kept the price steady for us at 60. We’re lucky they haven’t done scumbag things like a Deluxe edition for 80, a complete edition for 100, a ln ultimate edition for 120, an ultimate collector’s edition for 200, season passes for an extra 40, 10 different “micro” dlcs for 10 each, or cosmetic packs for 7 each. They’ve also definitely not cut content from the base game either!
