share vision of a metaverse spanning “Roblox, Minecraft, and Fortnite”
They’ll erode the popularity of all three with this shit. You have a hen that lays golden eggs? We have one too! Let’s smash them at the speed of sound and hope it results in a megachicken that lays eggs double in size.
I was bummed when I saw it launched in a crappy state. I thought it looked really neat as well. From recent reviews it seems they have fixed a ton of stuff and are rapidly working on other things so I copped it. Hopefully I can finally play it this weekend.
It’s an early access game, just finish the game instead of trying to ‘revive’ it while it remains incomplete.
A handcrafted campaign (ever seen a non-handcrafted campaign?) seems like something you’d save for a full launch anyway. It would make more sense to me to make sure the rest of the core game is fun and works as intended, then top it off with a campaign at launch.
Currently, that is the case. Update 7 was supposed to have mod support for consoles as well, but that got delayed to a future patch. It’s coming though.
I cancelled my preorder years ago and don’t regret it one bit. The last 4 games I ever preordered: Shenmue 3, No Man’s Sky, Cyberpunk 2077 and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. Never again.
I was super excited for this game until I heard about the free cam… Really hoping it’s something that can be turned off. A core piece of the original horror was hearing something coming but not being able to see it.
I don’t know if I can agree - there’s enough friction just in being able to explore the world from workings like that, I don’t blame them for changing it. At best it can feel cheap. There’s still plenty of ways to apply vulnerability of the unseen.
But several people also noted that the games industry goes through cycles of mass layoffs, because simply having a stable business isn’t enough for investors. Revenues must grow by a chunky margin: if they don’t, costs must be cut. Embracer’s mishandling of their business might be grotesque, but it’s business as usual nonetheless. “We make a shitload of money, but it doesn’t go back into the games,” one person commented. “It goes into a lot of now very wealthy peoples’ pockets, and the people who actually make the games kind of scrape by, most of the time.”
The option to download free is excellent, I wouldn’t know what price is “fair” without checking it out first. Will give it a try for a couple days and then come back with a decision (or not if I end up not liking it, who knows).
Even tho the game doesn’t need a sequel I want one so bad. That space station was amazing. I guess we wont be getting one, at least not from og devs. I still need to play that roguelike dlc for the game, I heard it’s very good too.
Even if I have the EOD I really hope EFT gets dumped and new games of the same genre come alive. I fucking hate the devs, they are even worse than EA or UBISOFT in terms of caring about the game more than money. The old prices were already a fucking scam.
Their netcode is trash, the game is full of hackers on wipe starts and mid wipe (basically were the fun is). Plus if you aren’t a fucking streamer that plays 15h a day the game you are pretty much fucked up.
