The IP and character designs are probably the only thing that’s worth saving. Everything else from writing, world building to even power systems have been a complete mess.
Alex Garland is a pretty good director. Ex Machina is one of my favourite films and Annihilation was a demonstration that he isn’t so tied down by the source media, but does capture the spiritual essence of a book adaptation, at least.
He’s a pretty proven writer and director and has written for video games before (DMC 2013). Elden Ring as a universe has a lot of interesting angles you could approach a story from. I think as an action souls game adaptation , it will be hard to avoid trying to please the two groups of people: one that wants a compelling narrative and another that just wants to see a big boss fight on screen.
Can you make a movie out of pure lore? Maybe a prequel, like The Fall of Hoarah Loux or Ranni’s Rebellion? Will the audience be required to parry things?
@inkican The MCU has nothing to do with whatever crap Sony is throwing at the wall with their Spider-Man license, apart from Tom Holland's Spider-Man movies.
Daisy Ridley is far from making the list of things the sequels did poorly. She herself would be on the list of positives. JJ on the other hand…
It’s very sad that she people can’t separate the actors from a story. The actors very rarely have anything to do with the story on screen. The only thing they control is their performance.
I hope she pulls down some big roles that leave a more positive experience for her.
I don't hate the idea of midichlorians, honestly. Or rather, I do hate them but I think that's the point - to show that the jedi have kind of lost their way, are judging everything by "midichlorian counts" and tried to standardise and automate the process as much as possible rather than properly considering the human element and doing things on a case-by-case basis. If it's not the point then, well... it should be.
I think there are some decent ideas in the prequel trilogy, I just think the execution was pretty bad.
Agreed. The same way I disliked how whiny Anakin was but it made sense in context that Vader was this emotionally stunted kid with a traumatic childhood he couldn’t get over.
