Frontier for Elite
Psygnosis for Lemmings and a bunch of other fun games on the Amiga.

Telorand,

Elite was a game changer for a lot of people. Lemmings was super fun, as well!

DmMacniel,

Fun fact: Rockstar (back then DMA) developed Lemmings.

Team17

Telorand,

Not from my childhood, but I’ve certainly played a lot of their games!

Humongous entertainment

TheGreenGolem, do gaming w What game company from your childhood do you remember with fondness?

Lucas Arts

Telorand,

Are they still around? /j

Yep, some classic point and click games, like Full Throttle. It’s from games like that that I learned Mark Hamill is an amazing voice actor.

Ori and the Blind Forest has a great track throughout, but the menu is definitely a highlight.

WildTangent and FATE specifically lol i never got past like level ten

Telorand,

Oh, WildTangent! I’ve only played Plants vs. Zombies from them.

TonyHawksPoTater,
@TonyHawksPoTater@kbin.social avatar

Small misconception, PvZ was created by PopCap. WildTangent was just a service on which to play games. I remember so fondly using my limited free tokens to play Polar Bowling; it really was just the best.

Don't know if you're aware, but FATE is available on Steam. Relive those memories, boss.

PeterPoopshit, (edited ) do games w 'Great' games I didn't play this year due to requirements

Modern system requirements are such a scam. Like come the fuck on. 2005 graphics were good enough. Textures. Meshes. Uv mapping. Directional lighting. Do they really have to make it so hard?

Please stop fucking making everything need a fucking supercomputer. Oh boy I can’t wait for the next time developers decide my shit is last gen so I have to replace my perfectly good gpu just for the new one to melt my cables and overheat itself to death 4 years later.

Aren’t we supposed to be fighting climate change or something? Make games work on way less computing power. For. Fuck. Sake.

One of the best fighting games

One Must Fall 2097

A little bit of nostalgia always helps too

d3Xt3r,

Woah, wasn’t expecting to see this answer here! OMF is my favorite one hands down.

A close second would be the music for Jazz Jackrabbit.

That one was so good.

Haven’t played this game in decades but instantly started hearing the song in my head when I saw your post.

DmMacniel, do gaming w What game company from your childhood do you remember with fondness?

Rainbow Arts (Turrican on Amiga), Maxis (SimCity) and Digital Illusions (because of their pinball games)

All of them gone except Digital Illusions which became DICE.

gnzl,
@gnzl@nc.gnzl.cl avatar

I was going to say Digital Illusions but for Motorhead, the racing game. The OST for that game has been in my music rotation for decades and it’s still in my top 3 of all time.

anti,

A fellow old person! I’ll add Ocean Software and US Gold from the Commodore era.

Probably Metroid Prime. Both the Title Theme and the Menu Theme are fantastic.

Xenoblade games also have brilliant title themes. Here’s the one for the first game.

Now, for some spice, let’s branch into a type of game I think most people here won’t have played - Visual Novels often have great title themes.

ManaBuilt,

I cannot get over how good the Metroid Prime menu theme is. It’s both chill vibes and an absolute banger at the same time.
