A game I like, and I’m not sure this fits 100%, but Voices of the Void.

Keeping things as spoiler-lite as possible, you’re a lone radioastronomer at a deep-space listening outpost in Switzerland. It’s a horror game, so there are “things” out there, but whether or not you get involved is kind of up to you.

Thing do happen, but not to you. You are just a witness to events far beyond your comprehension.

I listed some decent Android games I know of in a past thread.

The real secret is to look for board game adaptations and stuff you’d normally find on Steam.

I also have expanded my list for when I have the Play credit and desire for more mobile games:

  • Golf Peaks, Pup Champs, and Railbound — more puzzle games by Afterburn, the same developers as inbento
  • Digital board game adaptations by Dire Wolf Digital, like Root, Everdell, Clank!, and the Fox in the Forest
  • Coromon and Cassette Beasts for your creature-collecting needs

Recoil guns are great. Aim at the chest and get free headshots

Roller Coaster Tycoon 1/2 are on the google play store.

I have a playthrough going on of Bravely Default on my 3DS, but I got stuck on a difficult fight and never finished it. I wonder if I should go back, but it’s been a while and I’m unsure if I remember the story.

2017 Prey, sadly.

Contramuffin,

I get why the ending to 2017 Prey might have been annoying, but I honestly thought it was very in line with the themes present in the rest of the game. The more time has passed, the more I’m satisfied with the ending. That being said, IMO the only right ending is

A bit late to the thread, but I wanted to add the Gothic games to the mix. They don’t hold your hand and are relatively grounded in reality (within their fantasy world). Controls are a bit janky and the English voices as well. If you can, you should play in the original German or Polish. The Witcher series was heavily influenced by Gothic, especially Gothic 2.

If they are too old for you, the Remake is slated for early 2026. A demo is available on Steam and GOG and should give you a pretty good overview of the atmosphere and the way the games work.

Just stay away from Gothic 4: Arcania. Totally different studio with none of the charme.

I love Duet by Kumobius. A real nice timekiller, in a similar vein to subway surfers in a way.

omgbear,

Great call-out, I love this game. Fun to just get in the flow and twist.

Xcom 2 has an Android port. It’s not technically a roguelike. 🤷‍♂️
