tunetardis,

It would be nice is someone built a spin gravity space station with lunar and martian levels. We could see how people fare after several months in that environment before setting off to build permanent bases.

tunetardis,

This is where it starts to get exciting. Up to this point in human history, we have had no firm evidence of life on another world even though speculation runs rife. It is always just beyond our reach to detect it, but we may soon collect enough bio-signatures to infer its existence with reasonable confidence.

tunetardis,

It’s impressive how much detail Juno was able to capture even on the night side. What I love about Io is how it’s instantly recognizable. Nothing even remotely resembles it in the solar system.

tunetardis,

I hate capped internet accounts. As the dad, I’d have to police the kids especially not to blow the monthly cap, and eventually I switched to a lower bandwidth but unlimited option and there was finally peace in the family.

tunetardis,

I don’t remember it costing much more and the kids seemed relieved to not incur my wrath on a monthly basis. And not long after, my ISP increased the speeds on all accounts, so it more or less got us back to where we had been anyway.

Incidentally, if you’ve been with a particular ISP for years, it’s worth talking to a person when you change your account. They may have some discretionary power to give you say an introductory rate on a better plan to reward your loyalty?

tunetardis,

I don’t have pics of it since I’m at work but I built a sort of Noah’s Ark floating around in the sky where there’s a functioning village at one end of the deck, crew quarters at the other, and the central deck is all glass on top so that I can farm animals and trees in the hold below. There’s kind of a spire in the middle of the deck too which has a water source at the top and a cascading waterfall that goes all the way down into the hold where it provides irrigation. And you can reach the ark by boat using an aquaduct network I built around it.

tunetardis,

Yeah they are cheap to build compared to rail. I find it’s best to make them 2 water blocks wide or you winding up bumping into the edges a lot.
