RuneScape is increasing their membership price by 50%, and Reddit is trying to censor it angielski

Runescape is jacking up their subscription prices next month, going from like 12 bucks to 14 bucks a month. The increases range from 20% to 56% in price depending on currency. Players are PISSED about it especially since the company got bought out by some investment firm earlier this year, and they see it as a shameless cash...

Weslee,

No, not sure if other industries do this, but buying a game in a weak currency usually turns out cheaper (by alot) because Devs will usually offer the game for a lower price in the weaker economy

Weslee,

There are other currencies in the world.

Euro is going from 8 to 12.5, which is higher than 50%

Weslee,

Well OP does say the price increase ranges from 20% to 50%

In other currencies the price change is over 50%, for example Euro price going from 8 to 12.50

Weslee,

I think their games are great. And I think the Creation Engine is great, the amount of immersion I get and amount of hours I spend playing fallout, oblivion, Skyrim, morrowind is second to none. The mod support is endless, they were in a league of their own when it came to RPGs

Granted they have slipped a little (okay alot) lately but that doesn’t take away from their past works.

Weslee,

I was under the impression that 99.99% of fixes in the unofficial patches were gameplay related things, not underlying issues with the engine.

I also feel like if every game had the player count and mod support of Bethesda games, they would all have unofficial patches. No game is perfect and bug free, I know Bethesda games are buggier than most, but they are also way more ambitious and have way more content than most (I’m talking pre-starfield here, I haven’t gone back to starfield like I still go back to fallout and elder scrolls)

Weslee,

A misplaced mesh, missing quest dialogue, or invalid NPC navmesh is not an engine issue and is specific to each individual game, these things can’t be fixed in the engine

Weslee,

Out of curiosity, which engine would you say is your favourite? If Bethesda were going to start using a new engine tomorrow, which engine would you hope they would use?

Weslee,

Cyberpunk was in development for atleast 12 years, I agree that corporate needs to be hands off when it comes to things like that, but at what point is there a line drawn and you just have to publish what you have got.

Weslee,

I figured it was probably around 12 years, since the first teaser trailer came out 11 years ago, add afew years for the work they needed to do to even be ready to do a trailer (world lore, characters, etc)

Weslee,

Is deleting 2 characters from the URL really causing you pain?

You even have a keyboard and mouse! It’s like less than 2 seconds to correct

Do you find open source games interesting/good thing as a gamer?

@games I am a game developer working on game called Mushy Score. I decided that my niche would be to create open source games. I think these could be helpful for developers or teachers to teach about games and how they are made. Most open source games are small game jam games, but there are few “real games” that are open source like 0 A.D. and Doom. As a non-developer do you think open source games could be good thing?

Weslee,

It’s nice my unreadable code is getting the attention it deserves

Weslee,

It’s not satire?

Weslee,

I usually look though comments before following links

Weslee,

Literally the very first thing Riot did was steal and intentionally attempt to sabotage a beloved free game cause they were greedy and wanted all the money.

It’s just a shame it worked.

Weslee,

Pendragon used to maintain Dota, when he passed it over to IceFrog he (for some reason) kept control over the Dota website (you used to have to go to the website and download the Dota map everytime it updated), so it was pretty important, as well as the forum community.

When Pendragon decided to start Riot and LoL, instead of just giving the website to IceFrog he took the site offline and replaced it with a redirect advert for LoL.

The forums were also taken offline where he went into the data and stole a whole bunch of hero designs that were suggested and under discussion.

Overall a dick move, and what a way to introduce your new company and game to millions of people.

Even though I don’t play Dota anymore, I’m very pleased that both Riot and Blizzard failed to seize the copyrights to Dota from Valve.

Weslee,

If paying full price and obtaining a digital copy isn’t ownership, then taking that digital copy without paying can’t be stealing can it?

Weslee,

Has anyone tried it? Is it worth downloading?

Weslee,

Turns out to be £616 on UK Newegg but that isn’t so bad, will need to check it’s compatible with my system and power draw isn’t too much, but thanks will look into this one!

Weslee,

Thanks I’ll check if it’ll work in my current setup and power!

Weslee,

Hmm I do tend to play older games more often then new ones, so maybe intel isn’t as good as an option as I thought.

Will look into the 6800xt

Doesn’t take a review to know the performance specs haven’t changed, did this reviewer think oled screen somehow meant better GPU?

Weslee,

It’s free, can you not try it yourself?

Weslee,

It’s an open source game engine that has received alot exposure since the whole Unity fiasco

Weslee,

Pay to play no longer guarantees no microtransactions. There are plenty of modern games that charge 60+ and still contain ingame stores, battle passes, lootboxes, etc

Weslee,

Remember when the reviewers said Cyberpunk 2077 was the greatest game of all time too?

Unity ...It Just Keeps Get Worse (youtu.be) angielski

To say it’s been a bad week for Unity is the understatement of 2023. First they announced a terrible new Pricing scheme, then their customers revolted, as the week goes on though, it gets worse and worse for Unity, from threats from an employee shutting down their offices, to more studios threatening to leave, to scummy secret...

Weslee,

Am I the only one that wishes these video posts had some text explaination for those of us at work and unable to watch videos in the middle of the office?

Weslee,

Thank you!

Weslee,

Is Godot a full engine? I thought it was a UGC platform (like Roblox)

Weslee,

Yeah it was added by op. (thank you op!) Very kind

Weslee,

It looks like it’s a full engine, that’s pretty neat. I might have to check it out, though I’m on unreal ATM so unity drama doesn’t affect me

Weslee,

Ah nice, I might check it out after my current projects

Weslee,

It’s free until you make a million dollars (so basically it’s free for me, probably forever 😭), after which they take 5%

Weslee,

Ah yeah but that summery inside the box doesn’t really give any info

Weslee,

I wonder if the game supports whole new campaigns, use the core mechanics but introduce a totally different narrative, locations, characters, etc

Could be really good, even better if they open this up to modders and allow us to create our own campaigns

Weslee,

I’ve seen some mods pop up on nexus but other than the gear ones I wouldn’t say they were that great, though it is early days still

Weslee, (edited )

It’s runs on ultra on my 1060 gtx, I’m not surprised it runs well on consoles, the game is pretty nicely optimized

Weslee,

Ah my CPU is pretty modern compared to the 1060, and no I’m not even into act 2 yet
