Dude, MS has been dumping and killing the value of games so much, the entire industry is shifting to free to play live service. MS single-handedly ruined the past 10y of the games industry with their push to remove physical ownership and move everything to the cloud so they can double dip with Azure and Xbox. Furthermore they are responsible for the introduction of pay to play online and on Xbox you had to pay to play F2P games online until recently. Sony are greedy cunts but MS is not even on the same level of evil, they are pure distilled cancer and thanks to them the 2nd hand industry for game copies is struggling, everyone went live service because full price game sales went to shit thanks to gamepass (which is still not profitable) and now they have orchestrated a coup to kill Ubi so they can buy it the same way they did with Nokia. FWIW, the whole PSN debacle started with the sanctions on Russia.

I’ll buy the game in a year when most game breaking bugs have been corrected. I’m a fan of GSC and own the three prior games. My favorite is Call of Pripyat, it was so revolutionary that I was able to identify pripyat in film. I love these games. That said, that whole “Russian campaign” to discredit S2 is complete and utter BS. As soon as you start digging there’s literally no credible source for that info. It was a clever marketing ploy, good on them. It still doesn’t make the bugs not exist and the fact they sold their souls to MS and had to release a broken game because Ms likely refused to concede any further extensions is the real news there, but, of course, the marketing machine had to redirect from the fact MS is to blame for the state the game released in. The head of GSC tweeted the could not further delay the game. Anyone can read between the lines. Fuck MS.

It does say a lot… Sony waited long enough for someone to come and eat their cake. That said, the world building and layers of lore are a universe ahead in bloodborne compared to P. P is a facsimile of a good soulsborne that only succeeded because Sony waited long enough for us to be so desperate as to accept anything. In a world a sequel to BB existed, P would likely fly completely under the radar.

You mean, aesthetically, Shadow of the Colossus, Ico and the Last Guardian? The games BotW aped? And that’s just aesthetically. BotW is every single Ubisoft open world dumbed down for children with a couple of garry’s mod dodaads added to the mix. The execution and polish are top notch but there isn’t a single innovative bone to BotW, there’s ample refinement but nothing new. I invite you to expand your played games repertoire to include some of the ones I mentioned. Ueda is nothing short of genius.

The climbing mechanic was anything but unique, even the circular stamina bar was aping shadow of the colossus, which the climbing mechanic was a copy of. Seriously, I’ll never understand the revisionism from Nintendo or Apple fans. Yes, it’s a polished product but it’s neither innovative nor a 10/10. It’s success is completely predicated on marketing and a healthy doses of copium and nostalgium.

Quite literally in the article, the first reddit link points to a female user disliking what the mod author did with Daegon. Again, bringing sex into this does nothing but generate clicks. There is an online community that always goes too far in the harassment of PEOPLE, as experienced by modders, devs, et al from all the ticks in the spectrum of sexuality since the dawn of social media. That’s it.

It’s an unpopular opinion but as I see it, TOTK is wildly overrated, as is BotW. Yes, they are very polished and certainly good games but the 10/10 across the board made me doubt my sanity. The latest Zeldas are basically Ubisoft open worlds with a couple mechanics borrowed from Garry’s mod. It’s fun the first few hours but the lack of variety and absence of any writing really make it dull IMHO. I managed to finish BotW for the novelty and the occasional detail (the lightning hitting you when holding metal is a nice touch) but I’d die if my life depended on me remembering any character interactions. BG3 Otoh, not only is it also very polished, it has sublime combat and absolutely unforgettable characters. Truly a masterpiece.

I played FarCry 3 forever ago and to this day I remember the plot and Vaas Montenegro. I remeber Siegmeyer of Catarina, from DS which for all intents and purposes has a not so intelligible story. This just to name a few. I spent the same amount of hours on BotW as FC3 much more recently and can’t for the life of me remember any characters. I found them bland and uninteresting. That’s just me and I completely understand people who love it.

Different strokes to different folks. Perhaps my longer experience with games makes me more blasé with the mechanics or other features of BotW. I found FC3 and BotW equally tedious in terms of core gameplay loop, except FC3, actually had a plot and occasional sublime moments that made finishing it less of a chore. BotW is an empty sandbox with a handful of enemies (even less if you consider more HP and different colour as not counting as new enemies) and forgettable characters and story. The technical side of it is quite impressive as is the visual design, however everything else is painfully mid.

That said, I disliked the combat in TW3 or the Batman and Spider Man series for being too floaty and unresponsive so, I’m overly picky I guess.
