Got to agree. The voice work that really stood out in my opinion was done by Amelia Tyler (narrator) and Devora Wilde (Lae’zel). Everyone else was good and I REALLY enjoyed Karlach. I even did a play through with her as the origin character but it was because of the character design and writing more than the voice acting.
If we would all listen to Lemmy, we would need to boycott: Nintendo, Sony, Windows, Ubisoft, Activision Blizzard, Pokemon, Disney+, Netflix
I do boycott all of these as well as EA (made an exception for Split Fiction), most fast food restaurants, and I am trying to use Amazon significantly less.
After the Wii, I sword that I was never going to buy another console just to play Zelda. I eventually got a Switch to play Breath of the Wild and basically nothing else (I owned a total of 4 Switch games). When they sued the shit out of the Yuzu people, I decided it was time to finally live up to the promise I had made. I gave the Switch, which I hadn’t touched in years, to a friend to use as a gift for his kids and committed to never giving Nintendo another penny.
I’ll reevaluate that stance if they ever make significant changes to their practices.
I recently broke a decade plus boycott of EA products to purchase Split Fiction for full price. My friend asked me to play It Takes Two with him for free through friend pass and I was so impressed by it that I wanted to support the devs. Besides, the whole point of the boycott was to “vote with my wallet” and I want them to know that I want more games with that kind of quality made by teams that are (seemingly) happy to be doing what they do.
Based on the size of the company and the budget for the game I’d at least call it a AA game. My real point is I paid full price for it and have absolutely no regrets.
Baldur’s Gate 3 and Elden Ring are the last 2 AAA games I bought close to launch for full price. Other than that, I picked up Hades 2 in early access. The rest of my library is all stuff that I bought on sale.
I do have Monster Hunter and Avowed on my wishlist but I think I’m going to be patient. If I do pull the trigger, it would probably be for Avowed because I want more Obsidian games. On a related note Grounded is $20 on Steam right now so I stopped that up even though I beat it back when I had Game Pass.
